00:00 We're in the all-new Hyundai Veloster and I wanted to walk you through the infotainment system.
00:04 This is the absolute base infotainment system you can get in a Hyundai passenger car. So let's take a look.
00:10 You know, you've got the low-rent poverty pack when your phone is actually bigger or almost bigger than the infotainment screen itself.
00:19 But nevertheless, this is the base of Hyundai's current infotainment systems in their cars.
00:25 So let's start with the thing that surprised me the most, which is radio.
00:28 There's no DAB digital radio. Most cars these days have FM, AM and DAB.
00:33 So it means that you're kind of limited to just those two bands of audio. Mind you, you can stream Bluetooth audio.
00:40 So that means you're connecting your phone or some other device and if you connect your phone, you can play Spotify and all the other apps.
00:44 Alternatively, there is an auxiliary port and a USB port as well for streaming audio.
00:50 Phone. This is all again pretty straightforward.
00:53 But again, Hyundai, seriously, I press the voice recognition button to call someone and it does nothing.
01:01 It only works if you connect using smartphone mirroring, which is Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, which it also has.
01:06 Not wireless, it is a hardwired system, but it is disappointing that button still doesn't do anything.
01:11 Most modern cars these days, you can hit voice recognition and it will use an inbuilt system in the car to make all of that work.
01:17 Here you can see recent calls, your favorites and your telephone book, plus manual dialing as well if there's anyone you want to dial straight up,
01:25 but you don't have their contact details. Let's have a look at the rest of this.
01:28 Now the feature I love here, and it's kind of a weird one,
01:32 but I find it often useful because if you're driving along and you get this great idea,
01:36 it kind of disappears by the time you get to your destination, but there is a voice memo function.
01:40 Hit that and you can store up to 128 megabytes of voice memos that you can recall later.
01:46 There's no satellite navigation built into here, so you're gonna have to use your smartphone mirroring to make that happen.
01:51 Aside from that, there really isn't much going on.
01:53 There is a quick guide built into this system, which allows you to access reference points such as, you know, how to use the screen.
02:00 It takes you through those steps, but it's not interactive or not all that smart in general,
02:05 but it is a basic infotainment system that does everything it needs.
