00:00 G'day, I'm Paul. Look, I'm excited. I've got to admit, I've been waiting a long time to drive this thing and
00:05 it's like in the perfect color and spec for me as well. It's the Kia EV6.
00:10 It's the sibling to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and just by looking at them,
00:14 it's hard to believe they share a platform. They look so completely different, which is what I really like about them.
00:20 So this right here is currently the top specification in Australia. It is called the EV6 GT line
00:26 and this is the all-wheel drive trim. This is priced at a little over $82,000 or just under $83,000.
00:33 If that's too expensive, the entire range kicks off with a long-range rear-wheel drive version for under $70,000.
00:40 This competes with things like the Tesla Model Y when it finally arrives in Australia, the Hyundai Ioniq 5,
00:46 its sibling and also the Volvo XC40 Recharge. Today, we're going to do a detailed review of this car.
00:51 So if you do want to skip ahead to other parts of the review,
00:54 you can use the time codes on the screen or if you're on YouTube, scroll down and use the chapters below.
00:59 And if you haven't done so already, subscribe to our channel, press the bell icon.
01:02 That'll tell you every single time we drive cars that have a matte finish like my old Supra.
01:07 Now let's talk exterior design. So you've got seven external colors to pick from.
01:12 They all vary in price depending on what you choose and this matte color is going to cost you a little extra.
01:17 Apologies for the wind. It is extremely windy today. So let's have a look at this design down the front here.
01:22 So this looks completely different to the Ioniq 5 that it shares a platform with. Kia's gone for a more,
01:28 I don't know, I guess a more futuristic look whereas Hyundai kind of went with a,
01:32 I don't know, theirs is a bit futuristic as well, but they just look completely different. That's the main thing.
01:36 So up the top here, you've got your new Kia logo. This section here is entirely blocked off,
01:41 but you do have a little camera nestled into there.
01:43 Down the bottom here, you have a radar with parking sensors inbuilt into the bumper there.
01:48 You also have these louvers that open and close to assist with cooling.
01:52 Now have a look at these headlights.
01:53 So you have LED daytime running lights along that sort of sphere there and then you have full LED
01:59 headlights in this section here and they have that
02:02 kind of old-school beam to them in the background. You can see those mirrored sections there.
02:08 So it looks a little bit different to what you find on some cars today.
02:10 Let's have a look around the side here at the wheels. So 20-inch alloy wheels. The design looks pretty cool.
02:17 So they've got this section here, which is in a piano black and it's sort of cut up.
02:21 This is all for aerodynamics.
02:23 And then you have the machined face on the outer edge with Kia down the side there and then a
02:28 hub cover there as well. A little bit of sort of garnish here around the wheel arches.
02:33 This is an all-wheel drive, but it's not, I guess, a four-wheel drive.
02:37 So you're not going to be doing any off-roading in this.
02:39 It doesn't have enough ground clearance for anything like that.
02:41 But they kind of give you the impression that it's rugged and capable of things as well. Up here,
02:46 you've got an indicator built into that wing mirror with a camera nestled under there.
02:50 It's got more of that piano black garnish down the bottom. Now the door handles are interesting.
02:54 So when the car unlocks, they sit like this and then to open the door handle you just pull on that.
02:58 Then when the car locks or drives off, they sit flush with the body. So really nice design there.
03:04 It means that you're reducing drag on the side of the car as you set off. You get privacy glass on this spec.
03:09 Now around the back here, I really love how complex this section is. Up the top here,
03:14 you've got a little puddle lamp that projects down onto the ground. This is where your charger is located.
03:19 So I'll show you what that looks like a little later on. This section here is 3D and contains the indicator.
03:24 So when that comes on, it lights up beautifully, especially at night time.
03:27 And then you have this section here that also lights up as well in those individual segments.
03:32 Reflected down the bottom and then more of that piano black garnish.
03:36 GT line badge here signifying that this is the top specification model.
03:40 Keep in mind there is a GT coming which is going to be even faster again.
03:44 And then EV6 and this reflective garnish down here as well. Up the top,
03:50 you'll notice a shark fin aerial and also this spoiler. Now this spoiler gives you the slot where the air comes down.
03:55 There's no wiper on here similar to the Jaguar I-PACE.
03:58 So once the air comes down off the top of the car, it pushes all of that water over to the edge here.
04:02 Then it flicks up off the car. So look, I really love the design, especially the back.
04:08 I think it just looks sensational and quite futuristic.
04:11 So let me know your thoughts though in the comments section below.
04:14 Do you think the design looks good or do you reckon they need to give it another crack? Keen for your feedback.
04:19 Right, so we're inside the EV6. Let's start off with the keys.
04:23 So you have a push and hold to start the car.
04:27 You've got the remote parking feature there, the Kia logo. On the side you have lock,
04:32 unlock, boot and then on the back it is blank. It's a proximity sensing key.
04:38 So you just come to the door with that, grab the door handle. Once you're inside you have a push button start just here.
04:45 Just like the Ioniq 5, it says EV on it.
04:47 Obviously, we're in an EV. But anyway, that is where the push button start is. Now, let's talk about the design.
04:53 Look, I gotta be honest. I absolutely love this. I think the design is
04:57 fantastic. It feels space-age. It feels premium.
05:01 You know, respectfully, it doesn't really feel like a Kia and I think that is just saying something.
05:07 It is such a cool looking interior.
05:09 I love everything that they've done here. Like have a look at these materials and how they wrap around there.
05:13 They've used recycled materials throughout the cabin as well.
05:16 You've got this sort of perspex finish along the top section there.
05:19 So it is just a beautiful sort of interior that's been presented really well.
05:24 This section here is common to things like Sportage. So it allows you to switch between
05:27 different
05:29 sections. So you utilize the same screen, but it's all a digital display. And then you have this high centered section here as well.
05:35 So yeah, I think it is a really nice looking car. And for this kind of price, you really want it to be.
05:40 I understand that EVs are expensive at the moment because of the cost of batteries, but ultimately you're paying
05:45 $82,000, $83,000 plus on-road costs. You need it to look and feel special. I think this absolutely makes that brief.
05:52 Now, what about your touch points? So
05:55 it's kind of firm in the center there.
05:57 Softer on the doors. How firm is it? Well, we've got our durometer.
06:01 We've tested the main surfaces in this cabin. If you want to see how this car compares to others that we've tested before, have a look
06:08 at the link in the description. Now, build quality. Let's see what this is like.
06:12 There's a little bit loose there. It's a little disappointing.
06:16 I would have liked that to be a little more affixed, but look aside from that, it feels okay. And finally the door test.
06:29 Sounds nice and solid. Let's talk about infotainment. So ahead of the driver, there are two 12.3 inch displays.
06:36 I'll start with this one, then we'll have a look at infotainment and the head-up display as well.
06:40 So much like other Kia and Hyundai products, your home screen kind of looks like this.
06:45 Then you have profile selection up the top there. Now, it's interesting,
06:48 I don't know what sort of car that is, but that looks nothing like an EV6.
06:51 But I thought maybe they forgot to upload an image of the EV6,
06:54 but it just looks like a generic car with no branding on it. It shows your battery and the available range.
06:59 And then when you swipe across, that's where you access the rest of your menu items.
07:03 So let's have a look at radio first. So you have AM, FM and DAB+ digital radio.
07:09 And that's all plumbed through a Meridian branded sound system.
07:13 I think this is the first Kia to use a Meridian branded sound system, and it's actually a really good sound system.
07:18 So very impressive that comes standard on this top specification model.
07:21 In addition to that, you have your voice memo function for recording ideas while you're out on the road.
07:26 Quiet mode, so the kids don't hear what you're listening to up the front.
07:30 You've got a dedicated EV menu as well.
07:33 So this gives you information about your nearest charging infrastructure or the nearest advertised charging infrastructure.
07:38 This is also where you can set up your vehicle to load and also schedule charging for your next departure.
07:43 In addition to that, you have inbuilt satellite navigation.
07:46 So that's native to the operating system.
07:48 And then if you do want to use your phone, you have both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
07:53 I'll show you what Apple CarPlay looks like first.
07:56 Look at that big full screen integration.
07:58 Nice and quick. This is wired as is Android Auto.
08:02 It's a little disappointing they don't offer a wireless setup, but it is what it is.
08:06 I'll show you what Android Auto looks like.
08:08 It's not quite a full screen integration. You don't actually get access to that side.
08:12 I've noticed this in other Kia and Hyundai products,
08:14 and they claim that it's something to do with Android Auto that's preventing it.
08:18 But I have seen full screen Android Auto on a number of other cars,
08:21 so not sure quite what the story is there.
08:24 So this is the screen ahead of the driver.
08:25 Another 12.3 inch display, not a touchscreen.
08:28 And it's interesting because it serves a number of purposes.
08:31 So it shows you all of your key information.
08:33 So you've got your economy, you've got your driving range and a number of other features.
08:37 But it also acts as a blind spot monitor.
08:39 So while you're out on the road, each side of the car will illuminate when you put the indicator on.
08:44 So you can see there, we'll have a proper play with this while we're driving.
08:47 But I love that feature.
08:49 Really gives you excellent visibility down the sides of the car.
08:52 Then what you can do is flick between these different menus
08:54 that adjust things like what's displayed on the screen.
08:57 You can see there with each move,
08:59 it actually has a complete change to the side of that styling while it progresses.
09:05 So I love that that is sort of powerful enough to do all of this at the same time.
09:09 There is one feature, though, that is even more impressive than all this,
09:12 and that is the head up display.
09:13 So it may just look like a normal head up display,
09:15 and it's not the sharpest one in the world.
09:17 I think it could be just a tiny bit sharper.
09:19 But with that head up display, it acts as an augmented reality screen as well.
09:23 So while you are driving and using GPS,
09:26 it will actually show you directions on the screen with regards to where you're going.
09:30 And it makes the whole journey of navigation much easier
09:33 because it means you don't really need to take your eyes off the road while you're driving.
09:35 So really impressive setup.
09:37 And I love that this is included in the EV6.
09:39 Moving on to safety technology.
09:41 So you have autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
09:45 You've got an auto dimming rear vision mirror.
09:47 Radar cruise control.
09:48 You have a lane keeping assistant and also a semi-autonomous steering function.
09:53 That works OK.
09:54 I have mentioned this in our other reviews recently,
09:56 that with roadworks, they tend to get a little bit confused.
09:59 You've got blind spot monitoring built into the wing mirror,
10:01 but you also have the camera that I mentioned before,
10:03 and we'll have a closer look at that when we go for a drive.
10:05 Front and rear cross traffic alert.
10:08 You also have rear AEB as well.
10:10 Now, parking.
10:11 So you have front and rear parking sensors and a 360 camera.
10:15 So let's have a look at what that looks like.
10:16 There it is there.
10:17 So 360 camera looks OK, but it's not really all that detailed.
10:22 Likewise, the reverse view, it looks OK,
10:24 but I think it could be a little bit sharper.
10:26 The one in the Sorento is fantastic.
10:27 I don't know why they didn't roll out that to EV6.
10:30 But you can also then control like a 3D view of the car as it moves around.
10:35 And then you can also select different views depending on what you want to achieve.
10:40 There is also a semi-autonomous parking assistant.
10:43 So you push and hold the parking button,
10:45 and then it activates the parking feature
10:48 and allows the car to pretty much park itself,
10:51 which I think is interesting.
10:52 And that is all done using the key.
10:55 Now, if you do want more information on the Kia EV6,
10:58 we actually have a section on our website dedicated just to this car.
11:02 You can click up here to have a little look at that.
11:05 You'll get more information on pricing, availability, deals,
11:07 all that sort of stuff.
11:08 So check that out.
11:11 Now, moving on to practicality,
11:13 and we'll start with your connectivity.
11:15 So you've got a number of options here.
11:16 So down the bottom there, you've got one USB-C port,
11:19 a USB-A port, which is used for your smartphone mirroring.
11:23 Beneath that, you've also got another USB-C port and a 12-volt outlet.
11:28 In terms of storing your phone, well, guess what?
11:31 You have a wireless phone charger that is up the top there.
11:35 And if you don't like that, you can store your phone virtually anywhere else.
11:38 There are stacks of storage options around here.
11:41 What about our coffee?
11:42 Let's have a look.
11:43 It fits in beautifully.
11:44 So when it goes to getting your little coffee out,
11:46 you're not going to spill it anywhere.
11:48 You've got teeth in there to hold it in place.
11:50 Same story with the bottle.
11:52 That slots in nicely, and there's enough room inside the door for a small bottle.
11:56 Let's try our big bottle.
11:59 Doesn't quite fit there,
12:02 but it does fit inside the door, which is good.
12:05 Other storage.
12:06 So you've got this centre console.
12:07 It is huge.
12:08 It's nice and deep.
12:09 This part here also comes out as well,
12:11 and it means that you've got a little bit of extra storage space there if you need it.
12:15 You've got this whole slot down here.
12:18 I really like that.
12:19 Get ready for this.
12:19 It's probably one of the biggest glove boxes you've ever seen.
12:22 Have a look at how deep that is.
12:23 It goes all the way in there.
12:24 So a very impressive storage setup.
12:28 And what about your comfort items?
12:29 So you've got dual zone automatic climate control.
12:32 You've got heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel.
12:36 On the seats themselves, have a look at this design.
12:38 I love this.
12:39 So you've got the light colour up the top, the Alcantara trim beneath it.
12:42 It's perforated with stitching down the bottom.
12:45 I also love this headrest, how it's just got this 3D definition to it.
12:49 It's a really cool setup.
12:50 The seats are electrically adjustable, so you can go forwards, backwards.
12:54 Backrest can go forwards, backwards.
12:55 You can lift the base up and down.
12:58 You can also adjust your bolsters.
13:01 And just like the Ioniq 5, watch this.
13:04 Let me get set up here.
13:05 Using a couple of pushes of this button, they fully recline.
13:09 So while you are waiting for your car to charge,
13:12 you can kick back and relax.
13:17 It's actually so nice.
13:19 And then you put them back up by pressing that same button sequence again.
13:24 And then they go all the way forward once more.
13:28 So pretty cool setup.
13:29 And I think we'll see more of this in EVs in time to come.
13:33 Like Tesla has added Netflix and all that sort of stuff to the screen.
13:36 These guys are adding the reclining space seats.
13:39 And then the steering wheel offers both tilt and reach adjustment.
13:43 It's manually adjustable.
13:45 And then on our reach test, all of this stuff is easy to reach.
13:47 But the outer edges of the screen are just a bit of a tilt forward
13:51 from the driver's seat.
13:52 I almost forgot to mention, have a look at the pedals down the bottom here.
13:55 So you've got a negative on the brake and a plus on the throttle.
13:58 So I guess just in case you forget which one's which,
14:01 but it's cool to see a little bit of innovation there.
14:03 Plus a very interesting looking steering wheel as well.
14:08 So second row of the EV6, what's it like back here?
14:11 Well, I have acres of knee room.
14:13 Have a look at that.
14:14 There is heaps.
14:15 Toe room is really poor though.
14:17 And I'm pretty disappointed by that.
14:18 So I'll have to lift the driver's seat up to actually accommodate my toes under here.
14:23 But headroom is OK as well.
14:25 Slightly limited by this side section because my hair is rubbing up against it.
14:29 What other Christian comforts have you got back here?
14:31 So you've got map pockets in the back of these seats.
14:33 You have two USB-C ports attached to the seats as well.
14:37 There's a center armrest here with two cup holders.
14:40 So they fit our bottle in nicely.
14:42 Bottle then fits inside the door as well.
14:45 These are cool though because they're kind of convertible.
14:46 So you can move them out of the way and then it reveals a slightly deeper storage
14:50 hole there.
14:51 So pretty cool setup.
14:52 I like the way they've been innovative with that as well.
14:56 You've got ISOFIX on the two outboard seats that are coupled with top tether
14:59 points and then your air vents are over on the side here.
15:02 Now there is something very interesting down here.
15:05 So while Hyundai uses a plug for your vehicle to load,
15:09 with Kia, what you do is just slide that out of the way and you actually have a
15:13 3.6 kilowatt outlet under the seat.
15:16 It means you can just plug in whatever you want and the car will power that and
15:20 you use the settings on the main screen there to configure exactly how you want
15:23 it to work.
15:24 So pretty cool setup and I think this is probably a more convenient location than
15:27 having it out of the back there but you can still use the back in theory if you
15:31 get that little converter.
15:33 And finally our window test.
15:36 Let's have a look.
15:38 Goes all the way down, how exciting.
15:41 Now cargo space, let's have a little sticky beak.
15:43 So power tailgate, wait for that to pop up.
15:47 So just here in its standard form you have a little over 500 litres of cargo space
15:51 available.
15:53 It is worth keeping in mind that this space is similar to the Ioniq 5 and I had
15:56 some issues with this cutting down which means when you do put something like a
16:00 pram in there you have limited space up the front here.
16:03 There is a little bit of storage under the cargo floor, you've got a tyre mobility
16:06 kit and then enough storage under there to hide valuables.
16:09 Your charger can fit in that bag or alternatively up the front there is
16:13 another boot but it's tiny here in the all wheel drive, it's only a little over
16:16 20 litres so barely any space up the front there.
16:19 Show you what it looks like with our bags inside.
16:21 So that's the laptop bag and this is our temporary replacement suitcase.
16:25 This is the size between a carry on bag for the plane and a mid size suitcase.
16:30 You can see how much room that's taking up there before you put the cargo blind
16:34 in, there really isn't much room above it.
16:37 And then what you can also do, let me show you this, you flick this switch here
16:41 and this one as well and that opens that space to a little under 1600 litres
16:48 and final mention you have a 12 volt socket just off to the side.
16:52 Now let's talk about charging.
16:54 The charge port is located just behind here so to access it, you push on that,
16:58 that all opens up.
17:00 Now I do have to apologise for this, the last outlet that had this car,
17:03 A didn't return it on time, B didn't clean it, C didn't charge it so obviously
17:08 they don't really care too much about the cars they're given so rant over.
17:11 You have AC charging up the top here, DC charging down the bottom.
17:16 Now AC charging can happen up to three phase, 11 kilowatts and DC charging,
17:20 quite interesting, it can do up to 800 volts and it peaks at around 230 kilowatts
17:26 so it's not a bad charge rate for a Kia EV, even the new BMW iX won't do 230
17:33 kilowatts so that's not a bad setup.
17:35 This indicator on the side here will tell you how full the battery is so while
17:38 it is charging you get a good idea of how it's going and then this button here
17:42 gives you the ability to close the door or you can just push on the door
17:46 if you want.
17:47 Showing you how that works.
17:48 So let's go for a drive.
17:52 So we've hit the road in the EV6, one of the big advantages of where we film
17:55 here is this is exactly where we filmed the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and I'm really keen
17:59 to see whether this car feels any different on this road than the Ioniq 5 given that
18:03 this has a local ride and handling tune so we'll get to that in a second but
18:07 powering this is a set of dual electric motors, that means you have one electric
18:11 motor up the front, one at the back.
18:13 They produce a combined 239 kilowatts of power and 605 newton metres of torque
18:20 so that is a really nice big healthy set of figures.
18:23 What does it all feel like behind the wheels?
18:25 So I say this all the time with EVs, does it do the standard EV stuff which is
18:30 punching the throttle?
18:33 Yeah it does, it feels nice and snappy and in this normal driving mode the way it
18:40 delivers that torque is really nice and linear so it just gets up and goes,
18:43 it doesn't do anything too funny.
18:46 Down on the left here, just next to the battery percentage, you have the different
18:49 regen modes so currently it's on maximum which is called I-Pedal and the way that
18:55 works is when you roll out of the throttle, the car will come to a complete stop just
19:00 like it does in the Nissan Leaf and the Tesla range.
19:04 There it is there, it comes to a complete stop, it's really nice and linear and then
19:07 when you take off, it sort of gradually takes off.
19:11 What you can then do is use the paddle shifters to go back through different
19:14 levels of regen so you've got level three, level two, level one and zero.
19:18 So in zero when I roll out of the throttle, it just coasts and it's just using the car's
19:22 drag to slow it down and then when I go through level one, two, three, it gradually
19:26 gets more and more but it doesn't come to a complete stop.
19:29 So they are the differences between those drive modes.
19:32 And in terms of drive modes themselves, you've got normal, sport and eco.
19:37 Keep in mind this car doesn't have adaptive damping so that means that when you do
19:41 switch between the drive modes, what you're getting is just a change in steering feel
19:44 and throttle response as opposed to a change in the way that the car drives.
19:48 Kia claims an electricity economy of just over 17 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometres.
19:58 Let's have a look at how we're doing.
20:00 We're on 16.8 so we are under that claim.
20:03 That's actually really impressive.
20:04 I know I keep mentioning my Tesla when we do these EV reviews but it's my frame of
20:09 reference.
20:10 I'm averaging about 17, 18 kilowatt hours per 100 k's in that so the fact that this
20:15 is using less is pretty impressive when you consider the size of this thing.
20:19 Now with that 80-ish kilowatt hour battery, it gives you a driving range of around 500
20:26 kilometres.
20:27 Now I say around 500 kilometres because the WLTP figure is over 500 kilometres so
20:32 depending on the measurement that you use, it's going to vary there in terms of exactly
20:36 how much it uses but typically around that 450 kilometre figure should be a reliable
20:41 number.
20:42 Now let's talk about our ride.
20:43 We'll dial the speed up here.
20:44 This is the section of road that really unsettled me with the Ioniq 5.
20:48 So I'm going to attack this at the same speed that we did in the Ioniq 5 just to see how
20:53 the local ride and handling tune compares.
20:55 This is our sine waves just here.
21:00 Wow, that is a massive, massive difference.
21:02 I mean I can't say this enough, I know I bang on about it a bit but when a manufacturer
21:07 brings a car to Australia, when they go to the effort of actually doing an Australian
21:11 ride and handling tune, you see the results of it here when you drive on this proving
21:16 ground road which is typical of an Australian road so it is really cool to see that the
21:20 handling effort they've put into this car for the Australian market has actually paid
21:25 off.
21:26 The Ioniq 5 is actually changing the suspension on the Ioniq 5 now and I suspect that's after
21:30 feedback like ours which suggested that it needs much better body control so that will
21:34 come into effect closer to the end of the year.
21:36 OK, so let's dial it into sport mode.
21:39 We've got our corner coming up here.
21:41 God, it's sick inducing doing that.
21:43 Let's see what it feels like through here.
21:46 Yeah, that feels good.
21:49 Strangely it actually feels a whole lot more nimble than the Ioniq 5.
21:53 We'll plough onto the throttle up the back here.
21:57 This is the section of road that really upset the Ioniq 5 when it had this change.
22:01 Wow, that feels so much better and so much more composed.
22:04 I'm going to kill that lane departure system.
22:08 That is so good.
22:09 This feels completely different to the Ioniq 5 to drive with this suspension tune.
22:13 It just feels far more confident.
22:15 I can roll into the throttle a little more at higher speeds and it feels a whole lot
22:19 more settled through corners.
22:20 Especially on this back section here with our sweeper.
22:23 Just tuck it into here.
22:26 This feels really good.
22:28 Sorry, Sean, if I make you sick in the back there.
22:31 Yeah, this is really impressive and we've got our long straight that we're about to
22:34 roll onto here.
22:37 Start picking up the throttle.
22:39 Yeah, that is really good.
22:41 Damn, this is quick and this is not even like the fast one.
22:45 They're going to do a fast version of this called the GT which will just be even crazier.
22:50 So the fact that they've been able to achieve this in what is effectively the mid-spec version
22:55 is pretty damn impressive and I cannot wait to have a drive of the proper balls out fast
23:00 version.
23:04 Kia claims an official 0-100 time of just over 5 seconds.
23:08 This is how it went up against our stopwatch.
23:14 OK, so let's pop this back into comfort mode.
23:22 I have noticed here that as the speed picks up on coarse chip roads, there is a bit of
23:27 road noise that's coming into the cabin.
23:28 I was hoping it would be a little more refined.
23:30 It is windy today so we do have a bit of wind noise as well but you are hearing some tyre
23:35 noise coming into the cabin.
23:36 So it could do with just a slight bit more insulation to quiet it down inside the cabin.
23:41 Let's talk visibility.
23:42 At the front there, it's excellent.
23:43 I can clearly see down the front of the car.
23:45 The wing mirrors are really big and they've got the blind spot monitor built into them
23:49 but you also have the blind spot camera.
23:51 So you flick that on, you can see it appear there depending on which side of the car you're
23:55 on and I think that feature is fantastic.
23:57 It's one of my favourite features of Hyundai and Kia products.
24:00 Visibility out the back is good as well.
24:02 It is a slightly narrow envelope but it's not too bad.
24:05 And on the parking front, at low speed, the steering is nice and light and it has a turning
24:08 circle of 11.6 metres.
24:18 So the Kia EV6, look I genuinely thought this was just going to be, you know, another
24:23 Hyundai Ioniq 5, not meh, but it would be the exact same.
24:26 This actually feels like a completely different car.
24:28 It's really strange.
24:29 They've given it its own character behind the wheel.
24:32 The Australian ride and handling tune is excellent and it means that here on Australian roads
24:38 and Australian conditions, it actually will handle nicely.
24:41 The Ioniq 5 I just felt wasn't suited to Australian roads and yes, while they are rolling out
24:44 a suspension update, I think it still needs some tweaking to suit our roads.
24:48 Kia's actually gone to that effort.
24:50 I think this looks personally better than the Ioniq 5 but styling is entirely subjective.
24:55 Things I didn't like, OK, probably the boot.
24:58 Just like the Ioniq 5, I was a little disappointed in terms of the packaging of the boot.
25:01 This is an EV, it means you should have heaps of space around the drivetrain to actually
25:06 fit more storage.
25:07 The storage at the front there is really average and the storage in the back isn't amazing
25:10 either.
25:11 But outside of that, it comes with all the bells and whistles.
25:13 It's reasonably priced when you have a look at the rest of the competitors in this segment
25:17 and I really cannot wait to drive the fast version.
25:19 This was more than quick enough.
25:21 The fact that there is an even faster version coming, I just think is really cool.
25:25 So have you placed an order for an EV6?
25:27 They're sold out for like two years or something like that now.
25:30 Let me know in the comments section below.
25:32 Let me know if you've taken delivery of yours.
25:34 I'm really keen to see what you guys think of it as an EV and how it's going for you.
