00:00 G'day, I'm Paul.
00:01 I know we're all desperate at the moment to get outside,
00:03 see family, friends, all that kind of thing.
00:05 And like me, you're probably stuck at home
00:07 wondering what to do with yourself.
00:09 So today I thought I would join you in your lounge room
00:11 while you're working or in a meeting or at school
00:14 or whatever it is that you're pretending to be doing
00:16 to do some Lego.
00:17 And it's Lego on one of the coolest
00:20 and one of the most insane cars I've ever driven.
00:23 And I didn't really have much respect
00:24 for this car previously,
00:25 but after having a chance to drive it
00:27 and kind of, well, trying to max it out in Germany,
00:30 I thought it was time now to build some Lego on it.
00:32 It is the 2020 Nissan GTR Nismo.
00:35 And just to be on the safe side,
00:37 I thought I'd bring one in as well.
00:38 There it is there.
00:39 How good does it look in red?
00:40 That is the Nismo edition of the GTR.
00:43 And then on this side,
00:43 we have the R32 GTR for some vintage GTR metal.
00:48 And then finally a GTR 50th anniversary.
00:51 During this video,
00:51 I'm gonna be answering any questions
00:53 that you guys send in about the GTR, the Nismo,
00:56 or even this Lego stuff.
00:57 So keep an eye out for that.
00:58 Plus on top of that,
00:59 I'm gonna let you win some of this.
01:01 Igor, can you chuck me over what we've got there?
01:04 We have five boxes of the Speed Champions model
01:08 of the 2020 Nissan GTR Nismo.
01:12 This looks like a race car or something.
01:14 There's a picture of it here,
01:15 doing a sick drift with a roll cage in it.
01:18 But you have to wait till the end of the video
01:19 and don't cheat and skip ahead.
01:20 Enjoy our time together.
01:22 Kill some time with me and I'll explain how to win it.
01:24 I'll send this anywhere in the world as well.
01:26 So even if you live in the mountains,
01:28 herding goats in the middle of nowhere,
01:29 you can still enter to win this.
01:31 I'll explain how to do that at the very end.
01:33 So stay tuned and let's get started.
01:35 So this is what the box looks like.
01:37 I thought I'd show you that first.
01:38 It's got the GTR Nismo on the front
01:40 and it has Speed Champions.
01:41 I have a confession to make.
01:42 When we were growing up, we didn't really have Lego.
01:45 So I have no idea what all this stuff means,
01:47 but I think Speed Champions is the quick build of Lego.
01:50 (buzzer buzzing)
01:51 Let's open this up.
01:53 Excited.
01:54 Oh wow, there's actually a whole bunch of stuff in here.
01:56 So pull all that out.
01:57 Leave the box over here to the side.
01:59 So we've got two bags there,
02:00 marked one and two.
02:04 A robe piece of something.
02:06 And then we have a whole bunch of stickers
02:07 and some instructions as well.
02:09 Okay, so let me take these two
02:10 and put them into two piles.
02:11 So they are separate.
02:14 Sorry about all the noise.
02:15 Get these out here.
02:22 Now, if you're wondering why I have never done Lego before,
02:24 that's because my parents or my dad in particular
02:28 was a tight ass and we had secondhand toys.
02:33 So Lego wasn't at the top of the list for us.
02:36 So let's crack this one open as well.
02:39 Open.
02:42 So step number one is to take this
02:46 and our box of white stuff
02:48 and then to start assembling that along with the men.
02:51 I have no idea what's happening here.
02:53 Here we go.
02:54 Okay, I found the bits that I need.
02:55 So we take our red components,
02:59 turn that around,
03:01 put those on the bottom.
03:02 So we stick those on the bottom,
03:04 just like the instructions say.
03:06 So there's four of those.
03:07 Okay, let's have a look at some of these questions
03:09 while I build this.
03:10 Oh, this is a good one.
03:11 So this is from Nate, SirHC_M.
03:15 I genuinely don't understand
03:16 where people get some of these usernames from.
03:18 The question is, the R30,
03:20 well, it's actually a statement.
03:21 The R32 GTR is the best looking GTR ever built.
03:25 Change my mind.
03:27 That's a tough call.
03:28 So let us know in the comments below,
03:29 do you reckon the R32 GTR is the best GTR built?
03:33 I think it looks bloody awesome, even today,
03:35 and that's decades after it was released.
03:37 So let us know in the comments below
03:38 whether you agree or disagree with Nate, SirHC_M,
03:42 whether you think the R32
03:43 is the best looking GTR ever built.
03:46 So while I build this,
03:47 I'm gonna talk to you about my experience
03:50 driving the GTR Nismo.
03:52 We had a chance with my last employer
03:55 for me to go to Germany, to Berlin,
03:57 where they had a product launch for the car,
04:00 and that included some driving at a,
04:03 'cause it was like a car proving ground.
04:05 It was called Dekra Lausitz from memory.
04:08 My German is about as bad as my Lego building.
04:10 And that included a run on the autobahn
04:13 to get to this facility.
04:14 And if you've been to Germany before or driven in Germany,
04:19 you'll know that there are sections of the autobahn
04:21 that are de-restricted,
04:22 and they're signified with like a circle
04:24 with a sort of line through them in black.
04:27 And that means that you can go
04:29 as fast as you want, effectively,
04:31 or as safe and as fast as you want.
04:33 And that means that with a car like the GTR,
04:36 you are hoofing along at absolutely insane speeds.
04:40 And we were able to hit in stretches.
04:43 Max I got up to was something like 290.
04:45 One of my colleagues hit 309, 'cause it was quite busy.
04:48 And that's all in standard cars.
04:50 We basically got to the hotel, the cars were there.
04:52 We jumped in the cars and hit the autobahn.
04:55 And that gives you an idea of how a stock car
04:58 is able to just jump onto the freeway
05:00 and do 300 kilometres an hour,
05:02 arrive to a racetrack, do laps around the racetrack,
05:05 and then go home.
05:07 I mean, that is pretty special.
05:09 We can't drive the car behind us today
05:10 because COVID has absolutely boned our ability
05:15 to do some bits of content.
05:16 And this is one of those.
05:18 We will try and drive it eventually.
05:20 It's just not gonna happen today, unfortunately.
05:23 But here is some footage of it being driven.
05:26 So that was heaps of fun.
05:27 And then when we got to the track,
05:28 we had the chance to test the model year 17 Nismo GTR,
05:32 which is the outgoing model,
05:34 against the 2020 to see exactly what the differences are.
05:38 And if I'm honest,
05:39 I heard that there was gonna be a big price increase.
05:41 In Australia, it's $80,000 price increase.
05:44 And that means it's $378,000 plus on-road costs now.
05:47 That's bloody expensive.
05:49 It's still not quite 911 Turbo S money in Australia,
05:52 but given how old the car is and how long it's been out,
05:54 I thought, hmm, it's a bit of a rich ask
05:57 for that type of car.
05:58 But testing them both back to back was an indicator to me
06:02 that they have done incredible stuff to this car.
06:04 And I'll run you through some of that
06:05 with some of these questions
06:06 that we're getting in in just a second.
06:08 Oh, while I'm here, let me know if you think
06:09 that we should do a review on that.
06:11 So in a format like what we've done previously,
06:13 where we basically do a full detailed review,
06:16 give you a proper insight into the car,
06:18 infotainment, all that kind of stuff.
06:19 And then what should we do in addition to that?
06:21 Should we take it to the drag strip?
06:22 What should we race it against?
06:24 Let me know in the comments below
06:25 exactly what you'd like to see us do with the GT-R Nismo.
06:28 Okay, so I've encountered my first Lego F up here,
06:33 and now I'm gonna snap my nails trying to get this off.
06:36 Is there a tool or something you use to get this stuff out?
06:40 Eagle cameraman has done more of this than I have.
06:43 Let's give this a shot.
06:46 This is probably Lego sacrilege,
06:49 wedging things under here and breaking them.
06:54 Well, I'm not gonna break them, but...
06:55 I'm a failure.
06:59 Awesome, okay, back to building the Lego.
07:03 Sorry, I put this in the wrong spot.
07:04 This actually needs to go a little further back,
07:06 one step back.
07:07 There it is, okay, that's in position now.
07:09 Okay, another question.
07:10 Let's have a look.
07:11 All the engine deets, size, power,
07:14 and how power delivery feels,
07:15 and that's from mikeholm.jpeg on Instagram.
07:19 Okay, so let me run you through
07:20 just the basics of the engine,
07:22 and I'm gonna read this off here
07:22 'cause I wanna make sure I get all of these figures right.
07:24 VR38DETT is the engine code.
07:27 It's a 3.8 liter twin turbocharged V6 petrol,
07:31 441 kilowatts of power, 652 newton meters of torque.
07:35 When you do zero to 100 in this car,
07:37 which is what I had the chance to do, it is violent.
07:40 Like I've got a Tesla, I've driven lots of Teslas.
07:42 Electric cars are kind of the benchmark
07:43 for ripping your face off when you go full throttle.
07:46 This is just next level.
07:47 The tires are semi-slicks, and they hook up immediately.
07:51 So foot on the brake, foot on the throttle,
07:52 you dial up like a launch control,
07:54 dump the brake, and it slingshots.
07:56 So it's about two and a half to three seconds,
07:57 zero to 100 kilometers an hour.
07:59 How does the power delivery feel?
08:02 It's actually mental, and it's unrelenting.
08:06 So when you roll onto the throttle,
08:08 you just keep pushing it in.
08:10 Every single time it gets a new gear,
08:12 'cause it's got the dual clutch gearbox,
08:13 it just hits you with more of that torque,
08:15 and it just never stops.
08:16 And if you punch the throttle at 100,
08:18 it'll be doing 250 in literally no time.
08:21 I can't describe how immensely impressive it is.
08:24 Okay, we'll get back onto this.
08:26 I should point out at this stage
08:28 that I am actually a qualified engineer,
08:31 and I'm utterly hopeless at this.
08:33 I've had to backtrack a little bit here
08:34 to fix these bits that I've just muffed up.
08:37 It is worth calling out as well,
08:39 one of the real reasons that I fell in love with that car
08:42 is that it's just no bullshit.
08:45 You know what I mean?
08:46 A lot of people say, "Oh, it's not loud enough,"
08:48 or something, compared to a Lambo.
08:51 Well, all that stuff in a Lambo is completely engineered.
08:54 They want it to sound ridiculous
08:56 so that you can drive down your main street in first gear
08:59 with the exhaust open,
09:00 and everyone can see how cool you are.
09:01 This car's all about just being a missile,
09:04 getting from point A to point B
09:05 in the least amount of time possible.
09:08 And that's pretty much exactly what it does.
09:10 It doesn't faff about.
09:12 It just does exactly what it says on the box,
09:14 and that is attacks racetracks constantly.
09:17 And you're never gonna find a situation
09:18 where it's not doing exactly that,
09:21 or that it's overheating or doing anything stupid.
09:24 It literally just does exactly what it says on the box.
09:26 And keep in mind, the GTR platform in its current form
09:28 has been out for ages, ages and ages.
09:32 So they're still doing incredibly well with a car
09:35 that technically should have been replaced
09:36 maybe once or twice over by now.
09:38 Okay, this is where I get to put some stickers on.
09:41 So using the sticker pad here,
09:44 we'll go to number eight.
09:46 Does anyone know how they design Lego?
09:48 Like what actually goes into the process
09:51 of building this Lego so that it looks like this?
09:54 I mean, it must be a heroic effort by someone
09:57 'cause it makes no sense to me
09:59 how you actually come up with all this stuff
10:00 and these instructions.
10:02 I can imagine what it's like
10:03 on a bigger technical build as well.
10:05 Okay, it is time for the next question.
10:06 And I'm sorry for my hairy fingers.
10:08 I wasn't born in Australia, so I'm a wog.
10:11 So that's why they're so hairy.
10:13 Let's have a look at this next question.
10:14 How big is the boot?
10:16 That's from North Borders on Instagram,
10:20 an excellent photographer, by the way.
10:21 So what I'm gonna do here is grab my phone out.
10:24 Let's put this on video mode.
10:25 And I will take you over to the car to show you.
10:30 So there is the beastie GTR Nismo.
10:34 And I'll crack the boot open
10:35 and we'll have a look exactly how big it is.
10:38 Quickly show you the interior as well.
10:40 Man, how good does that look?
10:43 You've got this suede Alcantara stuff throughout.
10:47 Comes with annoying Nissan beeps, which is good.
10:49 It just looks absolutely awesome.
10:53 So I'm gonna press the boot button.
10:54 Check that out.
10:59 So that's the carbon fibre lid.
11:01 And then have a look at this.
11:03 That's all carbon fibre as well.
11:06 So the whole thing is just light.
11:08 And the boot is 315 litres.
11:11 It's actually massive.
11:12 You could probably put a body in there if you wanted to.
11:15 So that's pretty impressive.
11:18 Close that.
11:19 Check out the fins on the side, by the way.
11:22 Just in case you need to open a bottle or something,
11:25 you just crack it open on that.
11:27 And these carbon ceramic brakes.
11:31 Yeah, they look cool.
11:32 Okay, back to our Lego build.
11:36 Can anyone tell me what that means, by the way?
11:39 It's like a turn or something like that?
11:42 I should read the instructions, but I'm a man.
11:44 I read them when it all stops working.
11:47 All right, we're getting into some hardcore building here.
11:50 Oh, by the way, if you're wondering
11:51 why the light keeps going up and down,
11:53 we're in a top secret place where these cars live.
11:56 And it's got like open sky vent type things.
11:59 And there's cloud coming over because Melbourne.
12:02 Look at this.
12:05 This is coming together.
12:06 It's starting to look like a car.
12:08 Okay, next question.
12:10 Oh, this is a good one.
12:11 ZL1 or GTR?
12:13 ZL1 is of course the Camaro.
12:15 And that is from Justin Bonner94.
12:18 That's a really good question.
12:19 So I love the Camaro.
12:20 I think it is a weapon of a thing.
12:21 I love rear wheel drive cars in general
12:23 because burnouts and drift.
12:25 And the ZL1 kind of embodies all of that.
12:28 I love the fact that they took some of the learnings
12:30 from Camaro and put them into Commodore
12:32 and made some of the higher end GTSR, the W1 product.
12:35 Even the limited editions that we had in Australia,
12:38 the Commodore Motorsport, the Redline and the Director.
12:41 They all had to withstand,
12:42 I think it was 24 hours of testing
12:44 at one of GM's proving grounds.
12:45 And that all comes from the development in Camaro.
12:48 So which one would I pick?
12:49 That's a really tough one.
12:50 So there's a massive, massive price difference.
12:53 I'd probably lean towards Camaro
12:54 just 'cause it's cheaper and rear wheel drive.
12:56 But if you wanted a serious performance car
12:58 and you were very serious about your track work,
13:00 I think this is probably gonna withstand
13:02 a bit of punishment at the track a little bit better.
13:05 And it'll be a little more rewarding as well
13:07 'cause you've got the traction available
13:08 from the all wheel drive system.
13:09 Okay, time for another question.
13:10 Have a look at that by the way.
13:11 That is all coming together really nicely.
13:14 Starting to look like a car.
13:16 Bit of a spaceship at the back actually.
13:18 Or like a 911 cab with a big bum on it.
13:21 Okay, so the question is, is it too fast for the road?
13:24 And that's from Macca21h.
13:26 Yeah, look, I mean, like any car,
13:28 a lot of cars these days are fast for the road.
13:30 But this in particular is a missile on the road.
13:34 You kind of need Autobahns in Germany to stretch its legs.
13:37 And even then, it is so much faster
13:39 than every other car you're on the road with.
13:41 Is it too fast though?
13:42 Well, I guess it depends how you do it.
13:43 Where we're from here in Victoria, in Australia,
13:46 there are speed cameras absolutely everywhere.
13:49 So unless you go to a racetrack,
13:50 it's gonna be pointless owning a car like that.
13:52 So that's why I'm curious to see so many people
13:54 with Lambos, Ferraris and stuff like that driving around.
13:57 I wonder if they ever get speeding fines
13:59 or whether they just never drive fast
14:01 and just everywhere in first gear.
14:03 The thing that probably surprised me the most
14:04 to driving the GT-R Nismo back to back with the MY17
14:08 was that when I went out in the MY17 first,
14:11 it was unbelievably fast.
14:13 It was really hauling ass.
14:16 Then I jumped into that thinking,
14:17 "Sorry, I just don't understand
14:19 how you could possibly charge even more money now
14:22 for what is effectively the same car, just lighter."
14:24 And would you believe that I was able to go faster
14:27 in the new car and the old car felt like it was understeering
14:30 when we got back into it.
14:32 Understeering out of a GT-R Nismo.
14:34 So it shows you the progression they've made
14:36 with this new model is all about
14:38 getting it planted to the road.
14:39 Yes, it is weight saving and a bit more freer flowing,
14:42 breathing with the engine.
14:43 The titanium exhaust looks really cool.
14:45 In fact, I've got a cool story on the exhaust.
14:47 The old one had a titanium exhaust as well.
14:49 And when titanium heats up,
14:50 it gets that sort of glowing colour.
14:52 And because you couldn't really see it
14:53 when the car was idle,
14:55 a lot of people didn't believe
14:56 that it was a titanium exhaust.
14:57 And Timur Hasan, who is Mr. GT-R in the Nissan world,
15:00 he was there at this launch.
15:01 We had a really good chat with him, amazing guy.
15:03 He said that with this new car,
15:05 they actually painted the tips
15:06 in the heated titanium colour.
15:08 Okay, maybe not painted, heat treated.
15:10 They've done something to it
15:11 to make it look like it's hot the entire time.
15:13 So while it's freezing cold right now,
15:15 you can see that it still has the blue around it.
15:17 It simply showed people that, yes,
15:19 this is a titanium exhaust.
15:20 And then when it gets hot,
15:21 it still glows that colour for the rest of it.
15:23 So yeah, some useful GT-R Nismo information there.
15:26 Doors are going on.
15:28 It is looking like a car.
15:31 Some stickers on the doors.
15:33 Okay, time for a question.
15:34 This one, is it quicker than a Lamborghini
15:36 from my nine-year-old son?
15:38 And that's from a Nico12 on Instagram.
15:42 Good question from your nine-year-old son.
15:44 Look, it depends.
15:46 In a straight line,
15:47 a Lambo generally will keep up with this
15:50 or perhaps be slightly quicker.
15:51 Again, depends on which model you go for.
15:53 But I think around a racetrack,
15:55 and apologies for any Lambo fans out there,
15:57 but I think this would murder a Lambo
15:58 around a proper racetrack.
15:59 Unless you dive into stuff like the Performante
16:02 or cars like the SVJ,
16:04 I think they're kind of more oriented towards track driving.
16:08 But you'll find with this car
16:09 that it has so much lateral grip.
16:11 It has so much traction
16:12 that it'd be pretty hard for a Lambo to keep up with it,
16:14 especially given that this is turbocharged as well,
16:16 instead of naturally aspirated like the Lambos,
16:19 aside from obviously the Urus.
16:21 Oh, by the way, your nine-year-old son
16:23 isn't the one that was driving on their own
16:25 to pick up a Lambo
16:26 that was on the news the other day, right?
16:29 So with all the stuff that's going on
16:30 at the world at the moment,
16:31 what's going to happen with the car world, do you think?
16:34 Obviously, a lot of car manufacturers
16:35 are doing it really tough at the moment.
16:37 Do we think that we'll see car brands closing?
16:41 Here in Australia, we had Holden pull out of the market,
16:44 which was a manufacturer that's been here
16:46 for years and years and years,
16:48 and no one really saw that coming
16:50 in the grand scheme of things.
16:52 A lot of people lost their jobs.
16:53 What do you think's gonna happen with car sales globally?
16:56 Do you think we'll see any brands disappearing?
16:59 Okay, this is like a super mini complex build
17:02 that's going on here.
17:03 I'm having to really concentrate
17:04 'cause I don't wanna stuff it up.
17:05 I love this stuff, though, I'm really getting into it.
17:08 Okay, the Lego nuts out there,
17:09 how long have you been into Lego?
17:11 Is it like a childhood thing?
17:13 How long have you been trying to master this fine art form?
17:18 As I attach this bumper bar to the car,
17:22 boom, have a look at that.
17:24 We have a cool looking front end.
17:27 It is all coming together beautifully.
17:29 Is this the best Lego build you've ever seen?
17:32 Don't answer that.
17:35 Okay, time for another question.
17:37 Okay, this is a good one.
17:38 Does it top the list of road cars
17:39 in terms of being able to set repeatable lap times
17:42 on a track?
17:43 And that's from George Bacalus.
17:45 I'm gonna say yes, it has to be one of the top cars.
17:48 And just based on my experience,
17:50 when we were in Germany, it was really quite warm
17:53 and we were doing continuous track laps in the GTR Nismos.
17:57 It was just lap after lap.
17:59 The car would pull in, next journey I would get in,
18:01 you'd go out for a fang.
18:02 Then once we were done, they did hot laps
18:04 where I tell you what, I thought I was driving quick.
18:06 The dude doing the hot laps absolutely went for it.
18:09 And that is when the car was pushed to its absolute limits.
18:12 Not once did we have brake fade,
18:14 not once did the engine overheat.
18:16 In fact, it was crazy.
18:17 We pulled in after doing these laps
18:19 and all the engine temps were fine.
18:21 There were no engine fans kicking on.
18:23 You take any other road car out,
18:24 like my Supra, for example,
18:26 you take that for a bit of a fang.
18:27 It sits there and the engine fan kicks on.
18:28 If you switch it off, it sort of does
18:30 all its internal cooling.
18:31 I don't know what's inside that engine,
18:33 but it's like, just never needs cooling.
18:35 So the GTR Nismo is one of the few cars on the road
18:38 that will just do repeatable laps on the track
18:39 with the same time.
18:40 And I think the more confident you are as a driver,
18:43 the faster you will go.
18:45 My only concern is that once it does lose grip or traction
18:48 and it comes off the road, no one's ever gonna save it.
18:51 It's one of those cars that has incredible amounts
18:53 of grip until it doesn't.
18:54 Ah, this is for the back.
18:59 I did a little whoopsie.
19:01 This is meant to be on the other side of the car,
19:03 not that side.
19:05 There we go.
19:06 Just testing you, making sure you're watching.
19:08 There we go.
19:09 Now it's starting to look like a car,
19:10 not a back to front GTR Nismo.
19:12 (laughs)
19:14 Alrighty, we are 70 steps in
19:21 and that is what we have created so far.
19:23 I thought I'd take a stop for a sec here
19:25 to show you our progress.
19:28 This is taking a whole lot longer than I thought it would.
19:30 So we have been going for two hours now
19:33 and Igor, the cameraman who is a Lego aficionado,
19:37 says that it should take him 15 minutes to do this.
19:40 So I do apologize it's taking so long.
19:43 He's gonna edit this video
19:44 so it all looks much quicker than it actually is.
19:46 So if you see gray hair coming out of me,
19:48 it is because this is taking a whole lot longer
19:50 than I thought it would.
19:51 Time for another question here.
19:52 Let's have a look.
19:52 Oh, this is a good one.
19:53 So does it have radar cruise control?
19:55 Also, considering the age of the platform,
19:57 is it missing any features you'd find in a 20K hatchback?
20:01 There's a good chance for me to get my phone out here.
20:03 We'll go do some video.
20:05 We'll go check if it has radar cruise control
20:07 'cause I'm not entirely sure.
20:08 Okay, I'll take my phone.
20:10 We'll hop over to the car.
20:11 Okay, the key's inside.
20:14 I'll just show you what the key looks like as well,
20:16 just in case you're interested.
20:17 Oh, and this is the door handle too.
20:18 So it's a bit like my Tesla.
20:21 Okay, so, annoying beeps.
20:26 So let's have a look.
20:27 Does it have radar cruise control?
20:29 It doesn't look like it.
20:30 It looks like it's just normal cruise control.
20:33 No radar there.
20:35 In terms of other features that it's missing,
20:37 it has an old school infotainment system.
20:39 I'll show you what the key looks like.
20:41 There's the key there, GTR.
20:44 So it looks just like a normal Nissan key in that sense.
20:47 The infotainment system's pretty old,
20:49 but you get all of these cool features on it.
20:51 So this shows you your performance menus.
20:53 You can configure this to display whatever you want.
20:56 And then when you're going for a fang,
20:58 these are the buttons you wanna be pressing.
21:00 So you have traction control modes,
21:02 you have suspension firmness,
21:04 and then what the differential is doing,
21:06 you put that into R mode,
21:07 and then standard sort of gear shifter here,
21:11 controls for the infotainment system,
21:13 and then the paddle shifters behind the wheel.
21:16 They're nice and cold to the touch as well.
21:19 Is it missing any features?
21:20 Well, there's no heads up display,
21:22 which is a little bit annoying.
21:23 Would have liked to see something like that,
21:25 but again, this car is a little bit old.
21:27 Good sound system too,
21:28 and I love the use of Alcantara on the roof,
21:31 all over the dashboard and everything.
21:32 I'll show you what the seats look like as well.
21:35 There are the seats.
21:36 The Recaro seats that I mentioned earlier
21:38 that are weight saving.
21:39 I think 1.6 kilos each they save.
21:42 So that's pretty impressive.
21:44 Okie dokie.
21:45 So three of these,
21:47 they go on the back there.
21:48 Oh, sick.
21:49 Okay, so the spoiler is going on.
21:52 Here it goes.
21:53 There it is.
21:54 That's the carbon fiber spoiler being clipped into position.
21:58 This is looking like a proper GT-R Nismo now.
22:01 It is coming together.
22:02 I'm kind of speeding through this now.
22:04 It's making a bit more sense to me.
22:06 That is until I completely screw it all up and it's wrong.
22:08 But if there's any of this left over at the end,
22:11 I'm going to be very sad,
22:13 especially given it's my first attempt.
22:15 So just on the GT-R Nismo,
22:17 if any of you actually own a GT-R or even a GT-R Nismo,
22:21 let me know what you're thinking of it.
22:22 How's it going?
22:23 What do you do with it?
22:24 Do you attack many track days?
22:25 Very keen to get your feedback
22:26 and whether you like it as much as I do,
22:28 whether it gets old
22:29 once you've been driving it a little while.
22:34 Okay, time for another question.
22:35 This is from YouTube.
22:37 Does the tech take some of the fun
22:38 out of the driving experience from Christopher Pellet?
22:41 That's a really good question
22:42 because technology these days
22:45 kind of helps you become a better driver.
22:47 I get the feeling that
22:48 if you were to put that much power in a car
22:49 and then just switch everything off,
22:51 you'd have people flying off the corners everywhere.
22:54 People still manage to kill themselves in cars today
22:56 despite all of the driver aids that are there.
22:58 They all think they're better than the car itself.
23:00 And if you compare a car like that to the R32,
23:03 it has half the power.
23:04 Yes, it is lighter,
23:05 but at the end of the day,
23:06 that accelerates just colossally quickly compared to that.
23:09 So do the aids take the fun out of it?
23:12 Not with this car.
23:13 They do in general in some cars.
23:15 So for example, with my Supra,
23:16 if I'm going hard in it,
23:18 you'll feel the traction control kicking in.
23:19 Generally, that is because
23:21 the driver is forcing it to kick in.
23:23 The fact that traction control is coming on
23:24 means you're overdriving the car.
23:26 Whereas with the GT-R,
23:27 you're never really getting the traction control coming on
23:29 because you're driving within the car's limits,
23:32 beyond the car's limits.
23:33 Even technology won't save it.
23:34 So in that sense,
23:35 this is quite sort of tech-free.
23:37 Yes, it does have stability control
23:38 and suspension management, traction management,
23:41 but in most parts,
23:43 that doesn't really interfere with the driving experience.
23:45 And I love the fact that when you're driving it,
23:47 you hear all the mechanical noises.
23:49 Everything happens around you.
23:51 You're hearing gears disengage.
23:52 You're hearing the engine thrumming along.
23:55 It is just such a visceral driving experience,
23:58 and it just makes you feel very warm inside.
24:01 (clicking)
24:03 Eagle's laughing at me at the moment
24:04 because I'm doing something wrong,
24:06 but I'm not sure what it is.
24:08 Oh, I see.
24:11 You gotta actually make it click in.
24:12 My bad.
24:14 Okay, so we're gonna attach these things.
24:16 Then that goes down.
24:19 Nice.
24:20 Okay, is it normal for your fingers to hurt
24:22 when you're doing this?
24:24 Because mine are getting chewed apart.
24:26 I have stood on one of these once at a friend's place,
24:29 and it hurt.
24:31 So I can imagine long-term Lego building
24:33 probably isn't going to do wonders for your fingers.
24:36 I've got keyboard hands.
24:37 Mine are nice and soft.
24:39 I don't moisturize them,
24:40 but they kind of look like I do.
24:42 Okay, that is looking good.
24:44 Okay, time for another question.
24:46 Will the next GT-R be hybrid, do you think?
24:49 Well, I've got the inside scoop on this.
24:51 When I went to the GT-R Nismo launch in Germany,
24:53 I had the chance to sit down with Tomura-san.
24:55 He's such a nice guy and very candid.
24:57 I think he often gets himself into trouble
24:59 'cause he says too much.
25:00 I asked him this exact question in a car
25:02 during an interview,
25:03 and this is exactly what he said, his words.
25:05 "If Nissan keeps me for the new GT-R assignment,
25:08 "I'm sure I will never use a hybrid system."
25:10 He's completely against hybrid,
25:12 and certainly for a car like this.
25:13 So I think it's confident to say
25:15 that with the next generation of GT-R,
25:17 if he's still around, and I think he will be
25:19 because he is the face of these Nismo products,
25:21 there will not be any hybrid,
25:23 which is excellent news, I reckon.
25:25 Okay, that is looking good.
25:27 Just out of interest, what's everyone doing during COVID?
25:30 I know you can't really be out and about
25:32 and all that kind of stuff,
25:33 but how are you keeping yourself busy?
25:35 Are you consuming more car content?
25:37 If so, which channels are you watching?
25:39 What are you enjoying?
25:40 Let us know in the comments below.
25:43 Okay, we're well on our way.
25:44 The car is looking very complete.
25:46 I've got a few pages left
25:48 and then a few questions left as well.
25:50 So next up is, is this a daily driver
25:53 or is it a bit too harsh for the road?
25:55 And that is from 7mob.
25:58 Yeah, look, it depends really.
26:02 I find with my Tesla Model 3, for example,
26:04 that I find that it's really quite firm
26:06 and it becomes uncomfortable.
26:07 When we test drove it, it wasn't that bad,
26:09 but once you're driving in and around the city
26:11 and you're not sort of going for a fang,
26:12 it's sort of throwing you around everywhere.
26:14 I think it's gonna be the same story with that car.
26:15 It is comfortable, but if you're doing the daily commute,
26:19 you're just gonna be all over the shop
26:20 and I don't know that you wanna live with it
26:22 as a daily driver.
26:25 That is looking good.
26:27 And then we've got one of these.
26:29 Okay, wheels.
26:33 We're gonna get some of these.
26:34 We're gonna get some of these.
26:36 We'll push this through here.
26:38 I'm sure there is a proper way to do this
26:39 or there's some tool you can buy
26:41 that does this very easily.
26:43 No, Eagle's shaking his head.
26:45 Maybe not.
26:46 It just hurts my fingers, my delicate keyboard hands.
26:50 All right, we're gonna stick our rims on.
26:55 I'm also highly concerned that there's bits left over.
26:58 Uh-oh.
26:59 We've reached the end and there's heaps of bits left over.
27:02 Okay, so we still have to assemble the driver,
27:04 according to Eagle.
27:05 So let's put him together.
27:07 Now this has no instructions for the driver.
27:09 I'm gonna be just doing this on my own here.
27:12 I guess I assume his head goes onto there.
27:14 All right, we've got our dude built.
27:17 We'll stick our wheels on the car.
27:19 Boom and boom.
27:22 And we have a fully functioning race car.
27:27 Absolutely love that.
27:29 We'll see if it actually moves.
27:30 Yeah, that's sick.
27:32 That's going places.
27:33 Luckily this comes off easily.
27:36 Stick old mate in there.
27:40 All right, here he is.
27:44 Got him inside the car now as well.
27:46 Stick the compartment on.
27:48 There he is in there.
27:49 Very cool.
27:50 First Lego build and it's a GTR Nismo.
27:53 Very impressed with that.
27:55 Now, how do you win one of these?
27:56 I've got five of them to give away.
27:58 Eagle, can you shove them back over here?
28:00 So I've got five of these Speed Champion
28:02 GTR Nismo build kits to give away.
28:04 Like I said before,
28:04 I will ship this anywhere in the world to you.
28:07 We're gonna be drawing the competition
28:08 on this date up here.
28:10 So if you're watching this video after that date,

28:59 in the comment section at the bottom.
29:01 How many pieces of Lego are in the GTR Nismo
29:05 Speed Champions Lego kit,
29:06 including all of the spare parts you see here
29:10 in front of me?
29:11 The closest five people to the answer
29:14 will win one of these boxes shipped to them.
29:16 I will then draw a winner on this date up here
29:18 and get in touch with you
