Notre Dame Has To Play Better On The Road
Transcript
00:00 And so this is your chance to kind of come out and say, Hey, we're going to start fast
00:08 on the road.
00:09 We're going to come out and be aggressive and not just, you know, play bully ball and
00:13 just beat Stanford into submission because we can.
00:16 Right.
00:17 And that's fine.
00:18 You can do that to Stanford.
00:19 Like literally, if Notre Dame decided to do that, they could do that.
00:21 Stanford they flat out could just line up and run it down Stanford's throat.
00:25 But as you said, Ryan, does that make you better?
00:28 I don't think it does.
00:30 I don't think it does.
00:31 And obviously I think another layer that you talked about, we talked about throughout this
00:35 already, but there is a road game conversation that is continuing to be had by Notre Dame
00:42 fans and faithful and analysts because Notre Dame has really struggled on the road over
00:48 the majority of this season.
00:50 You know, like true road games too.
00:52 Like I'm not going to count going to Dublin and beating Navy.
00:55 Right.
00:56 But for the most part, you have your home uniforms, right?
01:00 Cause you're not playing on a, you know, exactly, exactly.
01:03 Whatever reason Notre Dame and true road games for the most part has played down to the level
01:09 of competition or played below the level of competition.
01:12 I don't know why it is, but look, Duke was a good football team at the time.
01:17 They were a very good football team at the time and they played hard and they played
01:20 well.
01:21 I think the first thing I said after the Duke game and that in our post game was, Hey, before
01:24 we start the conversation on Notre Dame, can I give some credit to Duke for a second?
01:28 Cause they played hard, man.
01:30 They played really hard.
01:31 They clearly wanted that game more than you did.
01:33 Just Notre Dame one in the end.
01:35 Right.
01:36 But ultimately you were a better, a more talented team than Duke you were, and you played down
01:42 to them and you had to win in the end.
01:44 You had to Clemson.
01:46 You were as talented, more talented than Clemson and you played down to them and let them dominate
01:51 you to begin the game.
01:53 We have seen this now for whatever reason, Notre Dame has played it down to teams on
01:58 the road.
01:59 I mean, Louisville, another one, right?
02:00 Like Louisville was dominating Notre Dame and it's like, is Louisville that much better
02:05 than Notre Dame?
02:06 Honestly, like, are they actually, but they looked like it on that day.
02:11 And when there's a, when there's a series of things that keep happening, right.
02:16 That that little bit of game after game of a sample size of like, Hey man, you're just
02:21 kind of struggling on the road.
02:23 There needs to be a self-realization for that for one.
02:26 And for two, you need to figure out a way to fix it now.
02:29 Right.
02:30 I don't.
