00:00 So I'm here at the Bristol Christmas Market 2023 and as you can see Bristol has made it
00:13 snow and they do every single day. Let's chat to the Bristol Christmas Market team to find
00:19 out more.
00:20 We are here at Bristol Christmas Market in Broadmead in Bristol. Well the Christmas Market
00:24 is highlight of the year for a lot of people in Bristol. So we've got over 50 stalls selling
00:30 some handmade gifts, we've got some beautiful Christmas decorations, we've got some great
00:37 alcoholic treats as well as some fantastic gifts for people or even for yourself. We've
00:43 got traders from all over the local area plus wider and further afield selling their wares
00:47 and we're open every day until the 23rd of December. We've also got as well as the shopping
00:52 we've got some fantastic food on offer. We've got our world famous German bratwurst sausages.
00:57 On the barbecue there's one just behind me and there's another one further up at the
00:59 end of the bar as well. Igloos, we've also got some ski gonzas which have been used in
01:03 some of Europe's top ski resorts so you can hire those for the evening to have a meal
01:09 there.
01:10 We're really proud this year we've got new decorations above some of our stalls like a
01:14 gingerbread man, we've got a fox family, we've got the penguins above the cheese stall as
01:18 well so it's really, really great fun. I mean children here can come as well as just see
01:24 the magic of the Christmas, all the lights. We've also got a children's activity where
01:27 they can do a little treasure hunt around the stalls while their parents are shopping
01:31 and have a look and they get a little prize at the end as well. So it really just brings
01:34 Christmas shopping, it just makes it a bit more special than just going through normal
01:39 high street stalls but obviously it does drive a lot of people to the area which is great
01:43 for the local economy as well and great for the shops that are here.
01:47 We love it, yeah people love it, we've got some fantastic comments on social media, it
01:54 is a highlight of people's year, they look out for when it's coming. I remember when
01:58 I launched in September, it was the first of September, I put a little teaser poster
02:03 on our social media networks for the dates that we were going to be here and the amount
02:07 of comments and hits that that got was unbelievable. People were like 'I can't wait, oh my goodness
02:10 Christmas'.
02:11 Obviously it has been a hard few years for a lot of people but here at Bristol Christmas
02:15 Market we've got a range of traders here as well so we've got some really local sort
02:20 of soul traders who hand make their own wonderful gifts and things for people.
02:26 The entertainment, last week we had a chap, a singer called John Prescott who was an amazing
02:32 vocalist and he got everybody up in the bar, they were doing the conga around, singing
02:37 Sweet Caroline and all sorts and they showed me the way to Amarillo, but everyone was capping
02:43 and cheering and that was a Thursday evening so it just brings that little bit of Christmas
02:47 joy to the people of Bristol.
02:49 Only time will tell if the 2023 Bristol Christmas Market is as big a success as last year's
02:56 but for now I'm going to enjoy the market.
