Transcript
00:00 Outside the stadium of Lightweight, Sunderland have been beaten 2-1 by Huddersfield Town.
00:06 Now back-to-back defeats for Tony Mowbray's side following that game against Plymouth at the weekend.
00:12 And it was Sunderland far from at their best tonight.
00:15 Really disappointing performance and results for the Blackcats, even though they dominated possession,
00:20 as we probably expected, than playing at home against a side near the bottom of the table.
00:25 So a lot of the ball, but even in that first half, the passing was quite sloppy, too many balls going astray.
00:30 And Huddersfield were creating the best chances on the counter-attack,
00:33 actually a couple of good saves from Anthony Patterson, particularly in that first half.
00:37 And the visitors always looked like they were going to pose a threat from set pieces.
00:40 So, Thomas was delivering some good balls into the Sunderland box.
00:44 And that's how Huddersfield took the lead just before the half-hour mark.
00:47 It was from a corner. Huddersfield won the first header and then defender Michael Healick made it 1-0.
00:53 Sunderland managed to get back on level terms.
00:55 Luke Hine scoring five minutes before half-time.
00:58 And Sy quite brightly in the second half, creating some chances.
01:01 There was one for Joe Bellingham when he went through on goal, but the shot was saved from the goalkeeper.
01:06 But then Sunderland fell behind in the 67th minute.
01:10 De Lago burgs on the Huddersfield striker.
01:12 The ball dropped to him after a shot was blocked and he made it 2-1.
01:16 And even when substitutes came on for Sunderland in that second half, Alex Pritchard, Bradley Dac, Abdullah Bab,
01:21 didn't really make an impact.
01:23 Elias Meyendah was playing up front for Sunderland today, with Adela Sheesh in the side as well.
01:28 Both of them making their first starts for Sunderland and had flashes,
01:31 but Sunderland just really struggled to break Huddersfield down for large spells.
01:35 It was a well-organised Huddersfield side.
01:37 Very compact with five at the back, three central defenders.
01:41 And they managed to keep Sunderland at arm's length.
01:43 And it was a frustrating night for Tony Mowbray's side.
01:46 They'll go again on Saturday when they'll travel to Millwall in the Championship.
