Philadelphia BREAKING: Shaq Leonard Chooses to Sign With Eagles Over Dallas Cowboys

00:07 The Cowboys lose out on the three-time Pro Bowl free agent linebacker,

00:13 recently cut by the Indianapolis Colts, and free to,

00:17 once he passed through waivers, choose his future.

00:20 He's 28 years old, a couple of back surgeries have made him not the player he

00:23 once was, but both the Cowboys and the Eagles have viewed him as a locker room

00:28 presence, no question, and a maybe first and second down run stopping guy.

00:32 Maybe he will prove to be more than that as he signs a one year deal to join on

00:37 with the Eagles.

00:38 He visited Dallas first and the visit went well.

00:41 He visited the Eagles second.

00:44 The visit obviously went very well.

00:45 One of the jokes in Philadelphia is that they need him more and

00:49 that after the Eagles played the 49ers and got demolished,

00:53 maybe they even up the offer because they need him so much.

00:56 This though was never a financial situation.

01:00 Frankly, ESPN reported that this was gonna be a financial bidding war.

01:04 That was never the case.

01:05 Neither one of these teams are pointing up a great deal of money in their offer.

01:10 What logic tells us is that while Dallas could have used Leighton Vandresh,

01:16 Philadelphia needs him more.

01:18 And the player Shaq Leonard, who's been really good for a long time in

01:22 Indianapolis but has never really gotten a sniff of championship level football.

01:27 He wants snaps and Philadelphia is probably maybe slightly more

01:32 capable of providing that to him, promising that to him.

01:35 And naturally he wants a Super Bowl ring.

01:37 And as bad as the 49ers made the Eagles look on Sunday,

01:43 frankly, the standings and the record tells us,

01:47 pending what might happen in the coming month, that while the Cowboys have a Super

01:51 Bowl shot at nine and three,

01:52 the numbers say that the Eagles have a better Super Bowl shot at ten and two.

01:56 So Shaq Leonard leans this way, leans that way, and then falls to Philadelphia.

02:01 And then of course, the fun irony, his first chance to be in uniform,

02:06 whether it's in a polo shirt, standing next to Big Dom, or in an actual uniform.

02:11 His first chance will be coming back to Dallas because the Eagles play

02:15 at the Cowboys this upcoming weekend.
