Transcript
00:00 It was an eventful day for the House Speaker today when he first paid a visit to the DILG offices
00:05 to assist in the awarding ceremonies of the agency's Good Local Governance Recognition event.
00:10 Here he assured the LGUs of more funding next year under the GAA. Next, he went to the AFP
00:17 headquarters in Tampa, Ginaldo to assure the men and women of the AFP of the House's full support
00:22 on their concerns and appreciation for the work they do as our Mela Lasmoras reports.
00:28 As he attended the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance National awarding ceremony of the DILG,
00:34 House Speaker Martin Romualdez revealed that the proposed 2024 national budget contains more funds
00:40 for local government units to allow them to deliver more services to the people. According
00:44 to Romualdez, the administration recognizes the crucial role played by LGUs in society. That's
00:50 why it is only fitting to allocate additional resources for them. In the coming days,
00:55 it is expected that President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. will sign the budget proposal into law.
01:00 The House of Representatives crafted the 2024 budget to bring about balanced development,
01:07 propagating progress not just in urban areas but across the archipelago and not just in urban areas
01:15 but throughout the country so that every Filipino from the Philippines to the Philippines
01:23 and every Filipino from the northernmost provinces to the southernmost islands can thrive with peace
01:31 and abundance. In a separate activity of Speaker Romualdez in Camp Aguinaldo, he also assured the
01:37 Armed Forces of the Philippines of bigorious support from the House of Representatives
01:42 in protecting the nation in compliance with the directive from President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.
01:47 On behalf of the members of the House, we'd like you all to know the members of the Armed Forces
01:52 of the Philippines, particularly you, the generals and the leaders of the AFP, that we stand beside
01:59 you and we shall be in strong support of you every day of your lives because our president,
02:07 our commander-in-chief, has set the policy that you are the priority, the men and women of the
02:14 Armed Forces of the Philippines. For all the service and sacrifices you have given to the
02:21 country, this is the least that we can do. Before the House session break, some resolutions and
02:27 bills have also been filed at the August Chamber for the welfare of our soldiers and other sectors.
02:33 Speaker Romualdez said even amid the adjournment, they will continue to work and serve.
02:38 Melalee Moras for the Nation.
