00:00 From 44th Street in Camelback, this is the Arizona Daily Mix.
00:05 And it all starts right now.
00:08 And welcome to a special Arizona Daily Mix where we're bringing you holiday cheer from Enchant at the Salt River Fields.
00:22 I'm telling you people are going to want to stick to the TV because this is a magical wonderland here at the ballpark.
00:31 And I'm telling you, it's going to be fun for all of you.
00:34 So, sit back, relax, and come with me as we enjoy Enchant.
00:38 Jerry, how are you doing tonight?
00:48 I'm doing great. How are you?
00:49 Well, I am just amazed at this beautiful light show behind us.
00:54 And you are kind of like the man behind all this.
00:57 So, tell me a little about the lights out here.
01:01 So, with Enchant here in Scottsdale, we have 4 million lights throughout the entire complex.
01:06 It took 50 truckloads of equipment and gear and 60 people, 30 days working, full 10-12 hour days to put this all together for us.
01:16 The maze is amazing. We have a lot of great vendors here.
01:20 So, we have to build all of the huts that you see here we built.
01:23 So, we truly turned this into Enchant Christmas.
01:26 And again, it took you how many days to do this?
01:29 30 days.
01:30 30 days. And then to break it down takes you how long?
01:32 I'd like 15, but I have 8.
01:34 Wow.
01:35 We have to get out of the way for spring training.
01:37 That's a lot. Wouldn't you just like leave it up for spring training? They could play out there.
01:40 Play around it. It's not a problem. Absolutely. It would be fun. But, yeah, we have to get it out.
01:45 Right. So, when you guys look to do this, I mean, it's a baseball field. Was that a little difficult to do?
01:51 So, we have a very good plan. What you can't see underneath, we put a floor throughout the entire stadium.
01:57 And all of our electronics are hidden under that floor.
02:00 So, we get everything off, we pull the floor up, and they're going to put a whole brand new field in.
02:04 Wow.
02:05 It's a good deal.
02:06 It is. All right. The ice rink there, too. That's part of you guys, too, because that's part of electronics and everything going on here.
02:11 Yeah. So, 17,000 square feet of ice, and it takes a lot to keep it cold here in Scottsdale.
02:18 It turns to water all the time, and then it freezes again. It's incredible.
02:22 Oh, my gosh. Well, we are looking at all the beautiful lights around here, and again, how many crew members do you have?
02:27 So, during the show, we have about 60, and to build it, I had a different 60.
02:32 And when we take it down, there might be 90 because we have to get out so quick.
02:36 And this is not your first time doing it. You just all of a sudden just wake up one morning and go,
02:39 "You know what? I'm going to put over a million lights at Salt River Field."
02:43 No. So, I did this last year in Nashville, Tennessee, which is where I was living, and then they came to me and said,
02:48 "Listen, we're doing it in Scottsdale. Can you come do Scottsdale?"
02:51 I was like, "Scottsdale in the winter? Absolutely. Absolutely."
02:54 So, I might make this my retirement gig. For the next five years, I'll come here every winter and build a thing.
02:59 That would be awesome. Let me ask you, how great is it of you walking around,
03:03 people not knowing that you're the man behind all these lights, and having all those families go, "Oh, my."
03:09 It's fun, and what really gets to me is it's not just the kids who get excited.
03:13 I've had adults compete over who can find the fastest items in the maze, and then they head to the bar, which is awesome.
03:20 But, yeah, it's fun. I really enjoy seeing people get into it here.
03:25 I think it's beautiful, and as you can see, the big Christmas tree out there, too, what we were talking about.
03:29 That's all on separate lighting there, right?
03:32 That's an RGB tree. It's 100 foot tall, has 100,000 or more lights in it, all computer programmed.
03:38 We control that with a computer, and it's not one light and everything goes out like at home. It's quite intense.
03:45 What happens if that tree light goes out or around here? Is someone checking all these?
03:49 Always. There's always a crew here. We're always working on it, and hopefully nothing goes out on it,
03:54 because I don't want to send somebody up to climb the tree to fix it.
03:57 But we're prepared if we have to. We'll make it work. It's just like everything else.
04:02 It's constant maintenance, making sure it turns on and then turning it off at night.
04:06 We never turn the tree off. The tree stays on. We got it on. We're leaving it on.
04:10 Wow. Yeah, you have to with all that on there.
04:12 But I will say, do you ever have a little kid come up and go, "Hey, there's a light out"?
04:16 Yes, little kids, adults. I have a lot of people giving me feedback on what we could do better next year,
04:23 and we will absolutely work to do that.
04:25 I think, Jerry, that's awesome. Just look at this, because again, it is enchanted wonderland,
04:31 enchant wonderland around here that keeps people, of course, in the Christmas spirit in the desert,
04:36 which is really nice. Jerry, thanks a lot for talking to us.
04:38 My pleasure.
04:39 I'm going to go enjoy some more of this.
04:41 All right. Take care.
04:42 [Music]
04:49 Later on, we'll conspire as we dream by the fire
04:58 to face unafraid the plans that we've made
05:02 walking in a winter wonderland.
05:07 The better we can build a snowman,
05:11 pretend that it's a circus clown,
05:15 and dance the parts of Mr. Snowman
05:19 until the other kids knock him down.

08:00 [MUSIC]
08:08 >> Well, while walking around and chanting,
08:10 you're definitely gonna want to enjoy a drink, and why not a cocktail?
08:15 And Trisha, this is pretty cool cuz I'm seeing people walk around with these
08:18 light bulb drinks.
08:19 What is that?
08:20 >> We have two light bulb beverages this year.
08:21 We have our Holiday Spirit, and what that is, is our local Chakra Vodka,
08:26 Pomegranate Grenadine, and then Lime Juice.
08:29 >> Wow, and it comes in this light bulb that's all lit up, and
08:31 that's what I'm saying, that's pretty cool.
08:33 >> Absolutely, and then for the non-alcoholic drinking and the kids,
08:37 we have a Blue Lemonade as well.
08:39 >> Wow, and that's just nice for everybody to enjoy.
08:42 >> Absolutely.
08:43 >> I like this. Now, we're back in a little special area back here.
08:45 Where's this area here?
08:46 >> This is the Centerfield Bar.
08:49 So we are a spring training facility, but
08:50 right now we are a decorated holiday experience, pardon me.
08:55 >> Okay, now back here you have a lot of different drinks here, and
08:58 we see on the drink board some signature drinks back here.
09:01 But you're telling me people have been ordering something to keep them nice and
09:05 warm, and of course, pretty much holly and jolly.
09:08 >> Absolutely, we're doing an espresso martini,
09:10 that's probably our most popular beverage out of here right now.
09:12 >> Okay, what goes into this?
09:13 >> It's an equal part of our vanilla vodka, Irish cream, and coffee.
09:18 >> So a little bit of that.
09:19 I like that, all right, and then what's this one?
09:23 >> This is the Irish cream, and
09:25 then we're actually gonna finish it off with an equal part of double brewed
09:29 espresso.
09:30 >> That's perfect right there.
09:31 Now, if someone wanted to have a little more espresso, should they?
09:34 >> I definitely don't recommend that, there's enough in here.
09:36 It's double brewed, so you're gonna definitely get a kick from it.
09:39 >> All right, and of course, a little shake while, there you go,
09:42 smile while you shake.
09:43 >> [LAUGH] >> I get all serious.
09:46 >> So, all right, these are pretty cool drinks back here, but there's a lot of,
09:50 of course, different areas for people to grab cocktails, or
09:53 even just regular water, sodas and stuff for the kids, right?
09:56 And beer, right?
09:57 >> Absolutely, we have eight different holiday drinks out here.
09:59 Throughout the venue, we also have eight different beers that you can purchase at
10:02 any of our stands.
10:03 >> Yeah, and these lights are really cool, and
10:05 they can take them home, which is nice, they have the little logo on there.
10:08 >> Absolutely, that's the Enchant logo, and then you can go ahead,
10:11 there's a button on the bottom to deactivate them, so
10:13 you can keep them for year round.
10:14 >> That's what I was wondering, how they do that.
10:16 So, I wanna turn this around this way, this one, so there you go.
10:18 So, all right, so how do you do that, how do you turn them off?
10:21 >> Just a click off the bottom, and then now you've saved in that battery.
10:26 >> Well, there you go, and so you can take these home and
10:27 light up at home too, right?
10:29 >> Absolutely, enjoy them for Christmas Day as well.
10:31 >> Turn it back on again, I like seeing that.
10:32 >> Absolutely.
10:33 >> This is great, this is so nice, and of course,
10:36 all the different locations to grab one of these, it's really good for everybody.
10:39 So, any other cocktails you recommend out here?
10:41 >> I definitely recommend our Peppermint Patty as well.
10:44 >> What's in that?
10:44 >> It's creamed of cocoa, peppermint schnapps, and
10:46 hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and peppermint crumbles.
10:49 >> You know what, I might have to try that.
10:51 Hey, it is of course great drinks out here at Enchanted, you gotta check them out.

14:27 >> Welcome back to a special Arizona Daily Makes from Enchanted here in
14:31 Scottsdale at the Salt River Fields.
14:34 And I'll say, if you're looking for some Christmas shopping while you're out here,
14:38 the perfect one is right here called the Cork Genius.
14:41 Because you're gonna have those holiday wines, but Desiree,
14:44 they're gonna pretty much wanna put them back or make sure they stay fresh.
14:49 This is the way to do it, right?
14:50 >> Correct.
14:50 >> All right, let's talk about this.
14:51 How does this work?
14:53 >> So what we're doing today, instead of working with an old corkscrew where we're
14:55 bending, we're twisting, we're yanking, we're cranking.
14:58 Instead, what I have here is a hyperdermic food grade stainless steel needle.
15:02 The finishing that's on there is ceramic, so that your cork can be weak,
15:06 it can be brittle, it can be synthetic, it can be plastic, it doesn't matter.
15:10 Your only objective is to take this needle, plunge it down underneath the cork.
15:15 Once it's under there, there's no electricity, there's no batteries,
15:18 there's no cartridges to replace ever again, guys.
15:21 Up and down, just a few pumps of air is all it takes.
15:24 Typically three to five, pulling any cork from any bottle just like that.
15:29 >> That is awesome.
15:30 That's very easy, good to do.
15:32 Now, okay, we've had a couple and we're kind of like done.
15:36 >> In the event of a power outage or a zombie apocalypse,
15:39 safe is always better than sober.
15:41 Stop struggling with your cork, guys.
15:43 >> There it is, that's so easy and great for everything.
15:45 Now, I noticed you have some other items over here.
15:47 >> We do, we wrap up everything that you need to have the perfect glass of wine.
15:51 We all know that aeration takes 30 minutes in a bottle,
15:54 10 minutes in a glass and nobody has time to wait.
15:57 So what we've done instead is design the double barrel in bottle Venturi aerator.
16:02 Your job is to plug and pour.
16:04 Watch this here.
16:05 Can you see all the bubbles?
16:08 Can you hear the hissing from the back row?
16:10 Letting you know that you're taking out all those sulfites that cause the headache or
16:13 hangover, leaving you with more time for wine, guys.
16:16 >> [LAUGH] >> That's it, all right.
16:18 >> This piece is life saving for wine saving.
16:21 Not that you're familiar with leftover wine, but
16:23 instead of plugging your old cork in, trapping air,
16:26 which causes the wine to go sour in just 12 days.
16:29 This one here, we plug it in, give it some pumps,
16:32 completely resealed, and you're now fresh for 14 days.
16:36 >> There it is, it's the cork genius and some extra things there.
16:38 You gotta get it out here while you're shopping.
16:40 So, all right, with that said, you know what we also have?
16:44 We also have some kids shopping too.
16:45 Let's go check that out.
16:46 [MUSIC]
16:56 If you're looking to do some Christmas shopping out here, you can.
16:59 And one place that is the hottest stuffed animal going around, it's Build-A-Bear.
17:05 And Jamie, this is great.
17:06 You actually have a little pop-up shop here for people.
17:08 >> Yeah, we do.
17:09 >> Yeah, and so what's really great is that you have a few little designs here.
17:13 Tell me a little bit about which ones you have here.
17:15 >> All right, so over here, most of them on this bottom row and
17:20 this middle row are from our new movie, Glisten in the Merry Mission.
17:25 And then up here in the top middle is our new Bear Leaf Bear.
17:28 It's our new animatronic teddy bear.
17:32 He's really cool.
17:33 >> I like this.
17:34 And just like being in the store where you get to come and pick it out,
17:37 you get to, of course, pick out that heart or that sound,
17:39 make a little kiss on it and put it in there.
17:42 >> Yeah, you do.
17:42 So the hearts are always free.
17:44 Then we have a sound or a heartbeat you can add to it.
17:48 We also have smells.
17:49 >> What?
17:50 >> Yeah, we have a lot of really cool smells over here.
17:54 >> I like that.
17:55 And of course, you gotta have the Christmas outfit for him, right?
17:59 >> Absolutely.
18:00 We have so many Christmas outfits over here this year.
18:03 Your bear can be an elf, Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, anything you really want.
18:09 >> And this is so neat for the whole family to come and enjoy and
18:12 do, which is really nice.
18:13 And so how long does it usually take to make a bear?
18:16 >> I'd say average.
18:17 If you're already knowing what you're looking for,
18:21 it can take like 10, 15 minutes to build your bear.
18:25 If you're really not sure whether you want an outfit or a sound or
18:30 a smell, you can have all sorts of fun picking, maybe 20, 30 minutes.
18:37 >> So it's a nice little experience for everyone to have.
18:39 All right, so what's been the most popular one right now out here?
18:42 >> Our most popular one, I'd say Glisten from our new movie.
18:48 >> Glisten is?
18:49 >> Yeah.
18:50 >> Okay, and it goes perfectly along, so
18:51 you can actually get Glisten, sit and watch the movie and enjoy.
18:55 So, and since you're out here, we were talking about a special bear that you can
18:59 only get in the stores now, right?
19:00 >> Yeah, so it's our birthday bear.
19:02 It changes every year.
19:04 The whole month of your birthday, you can come in and
19:09 you can get the child their bear for however old they're turning,
19:13 up until they turn 14.
19:15 >> I like that. Okay, can I ask you, how many bears do you have?
19:17 >> I can't answer that question.
19:21 >> [LAUGH] >> A lot.
19:23 >> A lot, that's it.
19:24 And so out here, have you been having a favorite one?
19:26 >> I think my favorite one to stuff right now is the Timeless Teddy.
19:32 >> What's one of the Timeless Teddy?
19:33 >> Our Timeless Teddy is right here.
19:35 We don't have a display for him out, but
19:37 he is the softest bear you have ever felt.
19:42 >> That's really nice.
19:43 And of course, the prices are great out here for the whole family to enjoy.
19:46 And again, the movie's out.
19:48 You can have some fun with that.
19:49 And of course, get your Christmas shopping done.
19:52 And why not get one of the most, I mean, sought after toys around, a Build-A-Bear.
19:57 So, all right, I'm gonna take that one.
19:59 [MUSIC]

22:07 [MUSIC]
22:08 >> This is the Arizona Daily Mix.
22:10 [MUSIC]
22:20 >> Hello, my friends, and welcome to Enchants.
22:28 [MUSIC]
22:35 >> Tony, wow, this is amazing.
22:38 We're looking at all these lights in this incredible maze here.
22:41 >> Isn't it?
22:42 This is 4 million lights making up the world's largest Christmas light maze,
22:47 right here in the center of beautiful Scottsdale.
22:49 >> Yeah, all right, so Enchant, this is not just here.
22:52 It's all over, actually, the country a little bit, right?
22:54 >> Absolutely, there are seven cities that have Enchant.
22:57 And like I said, we in Arizona are fortunate to have one here.
23:00 >> Yeah, well, just looking at this, it's amazing,
23:02 because this is a maze that we're going through.
23:04 But it's also a little story, too, right?
23:07 >> Absolutely, it's the story of the mischievous elf, Eddie,
23:10 has taken eight toys from Santa's workshop and went out and
23:13 played with them outside, and now he's left them and kind of lost them.
23:17 So it's up to our guests to find the eight toys, return them to the workshop,
23:21 so Santa can deliver them and save Christmas, no pressure.
23:24 >> Well, I'll tell you, that's no pressure at all for people to come through here and
23:27 listen to some great holiday music, cuz I love that you have live music and
23:30 piped in music for people to enjoy.
23:32 >> Absolutely, it's all the Christmas favorites and classics recorded.
23:35 And then we also have a lot of entertainers that come through.
23:38 The acts change nightly, of all types of different entertainment.
23:41 >> And then you, of course, given someone in Arizona who's never seen ice before,
23:47 a dream come true of skating on it.
23:49 >> That's right, yeah, it's a very unique opportunity,
23:52 certainly under the desert sky here in December, to be able to ice skate.
23:56 Definitely probably the most popular attraction we have.
23:58 People love to ice skate.
24:00 >> Okay, how long does it take you from, again, I mean, starting it to finishing it?
24:04 >> Well, the design started 16 months ago for this particular story.
24:08 And between design and then the construction off-site, and then the shipping,
24:12 and then it's taken about five weeks now to build it on-site here.
24:15 So 16 months from conception to delivering the event.
24:19 >> Wow, and what's really great is that if you were here last year, it's different.
24:23 >> It is a different story.
24:24 So every story in all the different cities changes every year.
24:28 So it gives folks a reason to wanna come back each year and see what's new.
24:31 >> Yeah, well, tonight was a special night, and that was honoring our military veterans and their families.
24:37 >> It was.
24:38 We were happy to be able to host some members of the military and honor them.
24:42 And we have military discount every night.
24:44 Military veterans get a discount on tickets every night.
24:47 But this was a special night to honor them as well.
24:49 >> Yeah, what's really nice, you're saying every night,
24:51 because now it's where you want everybody getting that Christmas feeling as we get closer to the holidays.
24:56 So what's happening now?
24:58 >> Well, now we're daily, every single day, open approximately 4:30 or 5:30,
25:03 stay open until about 10:30, 11:30, all the way through New Year's Eve.
25:07 So plenty of time for people to come out as they get to Christmas week,
25:11 and they've got family and friends from out of town, a great place to come and spend some time together.
25:15 >> Yeah, and do some Christmas shopping too for those like me who forget.
25:19 >> Absolutely.
25:20 We have the Christmas Village throughout the concourse with vendors of all types, food, beverage, gifts.
25:25 So it is a great place to do some last-minute Christmas shopping as well.
25:28 >> Yeah, and then you actually made a call to North Pole.
25:31 You said, hey, can you stop by a couple of times here and there?
25:34 And that is the famous guy himself, right?
25:37 >> Absolutely, Santa Claus is here, as well as Mrs. Claus.
25:40 So Santa's here for photos and meeting, and Mrs. Claus does a story time for the kids.
25:44 There's a kids' activity area.
25:45 So yeah, we're very happy to have them here as well.
25:48 >> Okay, I know you kind of mentioned before, but how long does it take to get through everything maybe?
25:52 >> People spend an hour and a half to two hours.
25:54 By the time they go through the maze, they do some ice skating.
25:57 There's a dance floor also here on the field.
25:59 Walking around, doing all the kids' activities, eating, drinking.
26:02 Yeah, I'd say a couple hours is probably a good number.
26:05 >> This is nice.
26:06 Okay, can you give me a little secret about next year yet or no?
26:08 Is that under wraps?
26:09 >> You know, Santa has not told me about next year yet.
26:12 So no, I'm afraid I'm not in the know yet, but I'm looking forward to it already.
26:17 >> Yeah, and again, we said tonight was a special night.
26:19 We saw the color guard out there presenting, of course, flags and again, welcoming our military families there.
26:25 And that's what this is about.
26:26 This is about community, isn't it?
26:28 >> It really is.
26:29 It's about family, friends.
26:31 It's date night.
26:32 It's small kids, some of their earliest Christmas memories, military, seniors.
26:36 I mean, you name it.
26:37 This is an event for everyone.
26:39 >> Okay, let's remind people of the dates again of when they can come out and see it.
26:44 >> It's every night, approximately 4:30, 5:30.
26:47 You go to our website for tickets.
26:49 It will give you the times.
26:50 But around 4, 3, 5, 30 to start and then goes until 10, 30, 11, 30 at night.
26:53 >> Until what day?
26:55 >> Until December 31st.
26:56 >> Okay, you got to get those tickets fast and come out and check and see it.
26:59 So let's go take a look around.
27:01 >> Okay, thank you.

28:18 >> Sometimes if you said, I'm not going anywhere until I find out that it's okay from ADOT.
28:24 And that's why we brought ADOT down, Doug Nitzel, the spokesman for ADOT, friend for 175 years.
28:32 But I have never asked you about how safe it is to travel up north when it begins to snow, which is about now.
28:42 >> Yeah, and we're always saying ADOT's prepared for the winter.
28:45 The snow plows are ready to go.
28:47 We want to make sure the drivers are ready just in case.
28:50 And of course, our number one recommendation, when we have these heavy snow storms that we do have here in Arizona,
28:57 when we do have those storms, what we are telling folks, don't travel into those storms.
29:04 Let the storm move through.
29:06 However, we also know that some people might get in situations where they're traveling on ice and snow.
29:12 And so we want them to be prepared.
29:14 >> Well, I'll tell you what, let's talk about prepared by talking about some of the things that you brought that are ideal for travel in the north country when you do it safely.
29:24 >> Yeah, and so it starts out with an emergency prep kit.
29:28 It doesn't have to be a crate like this one.
29:31 It can be the cardboard box.
29:33 You just want to make sure you have some things that are going to keep you comfortable in case you get in that situation.
29:39 Traffic is stopped out there on an interstate highway.
29:43 There's snow and ice.
29:44 They're trying to clear things.
29:46 Traffic is backed up.
29:47 You want to have those things that are going to keep you comfortable.
29:50 And it really starts with, hey, you might get wet out there.
29:55 You might be trying to fix the car, something like that.
29:58 So it's always important to have those extra things, the extra change of clothing.
30:03 We've got the jacket here.
30:05 That's my extra jacket, not the one I'm wearing originally.
30:09 >> And make sure that you have these things and also things that will keep you dry.
30:16 >> Exactly.
30:17 And so shout out to NAU, of course, the alma mater.
30:22 But, yes, that extra shirt.
30:24 >> Wait, wait, wait.
30:25 Do you get a deal with the kids and the grandkids?
30:28 >> Season tickets to basketball games, I think.
30:30 >> What else is over here?
30:32 >> Extra gloves, your extra pair of socks.
30:34 This represents having an extra blanket.
30:37 This is rolled up there.
30:39 But those are the things that, you know, we start to mention.
30:42 >> Is this a rice dish that I buy when I want Chinese food?
30:45 >> Exactly.
30:46 You're heating water with the engine.
30:48 It actually is a bag of cat litter.
30:50 A lot of people are surprised to hear us say it's not a bad idea to have some cat litter out there
30:55 because you wind up being able to use that on the surface, on the ice.
31:00 It gives your tires some extra traction if your tires are spinning.
31:04 >> Would never have thought of that in my life.
31:06 >> Exactly.
31:07 It could be sand as well, some gritty sand.
31:09 You could bring that along.
31:10 Don't forget the first aid kit, the extra drinking water, very important.
31:16 We've got some snack foods there.
31:18 The ice scraper.
31:20 How many times might you be in Phoenix and you think, oh, I forgot the ice scraper.
31:25 >> Okay.
31:26 >> Yeah.
31:27 >> See, I don't even own one of these because I don't really go up north that much.
31:31 >> You're using the credit card to scrape the windshield.
31:36 So those things are there.
31:38 >> Can you imagine my windshield is declining, my credit card when I'm trying to use it?
31:43 >> Exactly.
31:44 >> This seems fairly reasonable.
31:47 >> Yes.
31:48 People all the time, they're stuck in traffic.
31:51 My cell phone is going dead.
31:54 We don't want that happening.
31:55 Make sure you're bringing the charger.
31:57 You've got a flashlight, extra batteries for that flashlight.
32:01 And last but not least to mention, the prescription medications because a lot of people think I'm only going for the day.
32:09 Well, they're not possibly -- they're going to get caught in something.
32:14 The car slides off the highway, something like that.
32:17 We want you to be ready to have those items that will keep you comfortable.
32:21 And we have plenty of information on the ADOT website.
32:24 It's under /knowsnow, as in K-N-O-W, know your snow.
32:31 We have that on the website, all the information about what to pack.
32:35 >> That's really important to know up front because we have so many people coming from other parts of the country, other parts of the world, who have absolutely no idea what to expect.
32:44 In advance, they can contact about the condition of the highways and so on?
32:50 >> Exactly.
32:51 AZ511.gov is the website there.
32:55 You can call 511, and that's our traveler information phone system.
33:02 You can check on the condition of highways.
33:04 >> Yeah, well, if somebody says, what are you doing driving up north?
33:08 You don't even know what's going on up here.
33:10 Say, yes, I do because I just saw Doug Mitchell from ADOT tell me.
33:15 So it must be true.
33:17 Back in a moment.

36:02 >> Oh, out here in Enchant,
36:04 you can't go wrong with a delicious berry kebab.
36:08 And it's the original berry kebab.
36:10 Nikki, how long you guys been doing this?
36:12 >> 23 years.
36:13 >> Oh, my gosh.
36:14 And this is so great because it's a nice, refreshing and yummy treat out here.
36:18 >> Yes, it is.
36:19 >> And we see you guys make them right here in the booth.
36:21 And as we got some over there, let me see how fast she is making these
36:24 because what are the flavors you have?
36:26 >> We have strawberry and bananas drizzled with white and milk chocolate.
36:30 We have strawberry and brownie bites drizzled with white and milk chocolate.
36:33 And then we have our frozen cheesecake on a stick with chocolate.
36:36 >> Oh, my gosh.
36:37 So yummy and delicious.
36:39 Very easy to get.
36:40 And, again, there's a couple of different flavors.
36:41 And you suggest getting the different flavors and sharing with the family.
36:44 >> Absolutely.
36:45 These are heaven on a stick.
36:47 >> This is great.
36:48 Also, again, if you can't make it out here for Enchant,
36:51 you also are out here during spring training?
36:53 >> Yes, we are.
36:54 >> I like that.
36:55 That's awesome to delicious to have.
36:58 So look at that.
36:59 Yummy as can be out here.
37:01 Nikki, I got to ask you, okay, how many of these do you go through a night, do you think?
37:06 >> Oh, my goodness.
37:07 I don't know, but a lot.
37:09 >> So far you've been like the number one treat out here.
37:12 >> We have been, yes.
37:13 >> This is so delicious.
37:14 All right, I got to see you do the chocolate one really quick.
37:16 Do one more.
37:17 Look how quick she was.
37:18 Look at this.
37:19 And this is how they do it, doubling up on this.
37:22 Yummy as can be.
37:23 It's the berry kebab, the original berry kebab.
37:27 You got to check it out right here.
37:29 When you walk in actually to the entrance, grab one of these, walk around and enjoy yourself.
37:33 Oh, it's yummy.
37:35 Okay, we got this type of treat for you.
37:37 Now we're going to head over and have some yummy treats.
37:40 [ Music ]
37:49 Okay, out here in Enchant, there's some great little snack places to enjoy,
37:52 but also there's some healthy ones with a local vendor, Earth Sugar.
37:57 Jenny, how are you?
37:58 >> I am great.
37:59 How are you?
38:00 >> I'm liking this.
38:01 Tell me a little about this.
38:02 >> Yeah, Earth Sugar is a plant-based snack company in Tempe.
38:04 We make all these energy bars by hand, fresh each week.
38:07 They're organic, gluten-free, vegan, made with local dates and mesquite powder,
38:11 and they taste so yummy, unlike any bar that you find in a grocery store.
38:15 >> All right, where did the name come from, Earth Sugar?
38:17 >> It was something that came up in my brain.
38:19 I love fruits.
38:20 I love maple syrup.
38:21 That's the kind of stuff that's from the earth.
38:23 It's really healthy.
38:24 And I wanted to kind of challenge our opinion on what sugar is.
38:27 And when you think of desserts, when you think of sweets, you go straight to cake and candy.
38:31 But there's so many beautiful ingredients out there that the earth has to offer,
38:35 and we wanted to take them all, blend them up, smash them, make them into yummy on-the-go bars,
38:39 and that's what we did.
38:40 >> I like this.
38:41 This is great.
38:42 But I also like that you actually didn't really have this in the plan at all three years ago, did you?
38:47 >> No, I booked a one-way ticket out of Brooklyn, New York, during COVID,
38:50 wanted to be somewhere where the sun was shining and I could be free,
38:53 and landed in Phoenix, fell in love, saw the local farmers' markets, and, you know, the light bulb went off.
38:59 I was like, "This is where I want to start my business and make yummy snacks
39:02 and, you know, slowly integrate myself into the community," and it's been beautiful.
39:06 >> Yeah, and one way is, of course, through Enchant.
39:08 And how great is this that you have families coming through and discovering you even more and more?
39:12 >> I am having so much fun.
39:14 I went ice skating, drinking hot chocolate.
39:16 I've been seeing new customers, old customers, customers who I see every weekend.
39:20 And, I mean, it's so much fun.
39:21 We're in Arizona to experience a little bit of Christmas.
39:23 It's like a really good time.
39:24 >> Yeah, also what I like, too, again, there's all these nice, wonderful treats out here,
39:27 but a little healthy treat for those that want to stay on the healthy side.
39:31 >> And they're really yummy, too.
39:32 Banana bread's my best seller.
39:33 I have chocolate cherry holiday mint.
39:36 That's like a dark chocolate peppermint with fresh peppermint leaves.
39:39 And, you know, they sound healthy.
39:40 It sounds like it might be up your speed, but once you get a sample, you're going to love them.
39:44 They're so, so good.
39:45 >> I like that.
39:46 Okay, so after here, of course, you're going to go back to your little cobbler area.
39:52 And where's that?
39:53 >> We're right in the front, right where you walk into Enchant.
39:56 You'll see Earth Sugar right in the front.
39:57 There's some lights here, hot chocolate.
39:59 And make sure you check out all the vendors.
40:01 Everyone is so cool here.
40:02 We're all becoming best friends.
40:03 And we're making something really special.
40:05 So if you have nothing to do this month, definitely stop by Enchant.
40:08 There's a lot of fun to be had.
40:09 >> Okay, so where can they find you after, of course, Enchant?
40:13 >> We do all the local farmers markets, Old Town Scottsdale, Uptown, Gilbert, Downtown.
40:18 And then we ship online nationwide, loveearthsugar.com.
40:21 You can send them to your friends wherever they might be.
40:23 >> I like that.
40:24 There you go.
40:25 Okay, you got some sweets.
40:26 And then you have some healthy sweets to enjoy out here at Enchant.
40:30 [ Music ]
40:50 All right, you know, we're here in the desert, and there's ice.
40:53 We're skating in the ballpark.
40:55 And why is that?
40:57 Because Nate and his team has brought ice to Arizona.
41:00 And I got to ask you, Nate, how did you do that?
41:03 >> A lot of hours.
41:04 And it involves -- we put some insulation on the ground.
41:07 You know, then we put our plastic down so it's like a big tarp that holds all the water.
41:11 And then we lay a bunch of piping down.
41:14 And it travels all the way through there, all the way back to -- we have three chillers set up to keep it cool.
41:20 And like you said, we're in the desert, so it's not easy.
41:22 We had to always -- you know, we're staying on top of it.
41:24 We're doing floods every night to make sure we don't lose any ice.
41:27 So there's a lot of maintenance that goes along with it.
41:30 >> And we've been seeing some warm weather for a few days here in Arizona, unusual for the holiday.
41:35 But that has not stopped you from making sure people are enjoying the evening time of skating or falling for some.
41:41 >> Exactly.
41:42 I mean, it's taken a lot of hours.
41:44 I mean, we come in at night.
41:45 Usually once the sun goes down, we'll do the floods and make sure it's all level with the Zamboni.
41:49 I mean, there's a lot to it, but we make it happen.
41:52 >> And it's not like the typical ice rink where going around circles.
41:55 It's actually a nice little maze kind of, right?
41:57 >> Yes, we have a trail that leads through and, you know, lights on the inside of the island.
42:01 You know, we try to go all out.
42:03 >> I like this.
42:04 Okay, how cool it is to actually see those kids the first time ever stepping on the ice.
42:09 I know they're a little scared, but they're excited, aren't they?
42:11 >> Oh, they love it.
42:12 They love it.
42:13 I mean, it's nothing they really get to do.
42:15 So, I mean, we're in the desert.
42:16 There's that ice.
42:17 I mean, we have a couple ice rinks, but, I mean, it's for mainly hockey and sports.
42:21 So, for them to come and do this, it's awesome.
42:23 They love it.
42:24 >> Okay, how cold is the ice?
42:27 >> The ice is roughly mid-20s, 20 degrees, give or take.
42:31 If it gets too cold, we'll get, you know, holes and ice will crack, and we don't want that.
42:35 So, we're constantly out here measuring, or not measuring, but recording the temperatures and doing our best to make it right.
42:42 >> Yeah, and it's fun just to be out here.
42:44 I'm a hockey player, you know that, and what's great is that if you don't have skates, they got rental.
42:49 >> Absolutely.
42:50 >> So, you sign a little waiver, all sizes?
42:52 >> Yep.
42:53 >> Yes.
42:54 >> I believe they go all the way to 15, and even for the little guys, we have just things that slide over their shoes in case they don't fit.
43:00 >> And they have two different kinds.
43:01 There's hockey and figure skating.
43:03 >> Yes, sir.
43:04 >> So, that's good.
43:05 What do you recommend for people?
43:06 >> I recommend the figure skates.
43:08 They are a little bit easier for the beginners, but the hockey, you know, they can be a little tough.
43:12 You have more support in the back with figure skates.
43:14 >> Now, if it is your first time out here, you might be a little scared, but don't worry because you have a wonderful team out here to help people out, don't you?
43:20 >> Absolutely.
43:21 We always have guys all around the rink, and they're just constantly checking on people, you know, giving some tips, small tips, just on how to keep it going smooth.
43:29 >> Yeah.
43:30 All right.
43:31 You guys have a full-fledged Samboni out here, and that's kind of like a star of the, of course, ice rink.
43:36 >> Oh, for sure.
43:37 People love it, too.
43:38 It's a lot of fun.
43:39 You know, no one really sees that either, so everyone loves it.
43:43 >> Driving out here and stuff.
43:44 This is so cool.
43:45 Okay.
43:46 So, the ice rink is actually an extra ticket to be in here, or does it go along with things?
43:50 >> It's the extra ticket, I believe.
43:52 >> Yeah, extra ticket.
43:53 Okay.
43:54 So, we're making sure of that when you want to, which is really good for everybody and fun to do.
43:57 And it's just right in the middle of the lights down here, great for everybody to have a good time.
44:01 And so, let me ask you, how long does it take to get this up when you're done?
44:06 >> To remove it?
44:08 It depends on the ice.
44:09 Usually we have to melt the ice out if for some reason the ice doesn't melt, which usually isn't a problem out here, you know.
44:14 But usually we have to sledgehammer them out if, you know, the ice -- that could be a lengthy process.
44:19 >> Yeah.
44:20 All right.
44:21 Let's just say maybe I won the Powerball and I want to have one of these for a holiday party.
44:24 Can I do that?
44:25 >> Absolutely.
44:26 You might need to win the Powerball, though.
44:29 >> You guys do this, huh?
44:30 >> Oh, yeah.
44:31 >> And all over.
44:32 That's really cool, too.
44:33 You guys go across the country.
44:34 >> Oh, yeah, absolutely.
44:35 I mean, I'm from New York, so I'm all the way out here.
44:37 I mean, we go all the way to California and build them.
44:39 We're all over the place.
44:40 >> Oh, man, this is great.
44:41 Again, a great way to enjoy the holidays is skating with your family, and you've got to do it right out here.
44:48 And, of course, we want to remind you, no ice fishing out here, right?
44:52 >> No, none of that.
44:53 >> No ice fishing.
44:54 So don't think those people from Minnesota, you come out here and do some fishing.
44:57 >> No, no way.
44:58 >> Nate, thanks a lot.
44:59 All right, you go.
45:00 I'm going to skate and have some more fun.

47:21 Look who I'm sitting with here at Enchant in Scottsdale at the Salt River Fields.
47:26 It's Santa!
47:29 Santa!
47:31 This is so great.
47:32 I'm so glad you made a stop down here for the North Pole to, of course, hear the kids give their Christmas list.
47:38 But also you're doing some fun things, too, with them, aren't you?
47:41 >> Yeah, we're taking numerous pictures of Home Alone.
47:46 They do, and also they do point at the naughtiest person in the room, and then if they don't smile, I tell them they're on the naughty list.
47:55 And that's basically the most important part.
47:59 >> Yeah, this is so nice, and this is kind of like a little secret back here because you are in and out here at Enchant, so it's nice that they, you know, set aside some time to come see you.
48:09 >> Yes, they do.
48:11 Every 15 minutes I get beautiful kids coming in and seeing me and smiles to the glore.
48:19 >> This is so nice, and of course you have your helpers behind you working with you, so it's awesome.
48:24 And Mrs. Claus is here, too.
48:27 She came down, and you have a special area, don't you?
48:30 >> I do, the Little Elves Play Place.
48:32 >> And what happens over there?
48:34 >> Well, every hour we do a story time.
48:36 We've got two stories that we read, and everyone gets to hang out with Mrs. Claus for a little bit.
48:40 >> What are the stories?
48:42 >> The stories is the first story of Enchant, so it is the reason that we're all here, why we have to find the missing toys.
48:48 >> And then the other one?
48:50 >> The other story is Roxy's Merry Christmas from Shamrock Farms.
48:53 >> Oh, my gosh, this is so awesome.
48:55 So how great is it to see these smiling faces reading those stories?
48:58 >> It's amazing.
48:59 They're always so happy, and I just really love getting little hugs from all the kids.
49:04 I love seeing Mrs. Claus.
49:06 >> And of course, us big adults here, you know, I'm sitting here going, I can't believe.
49:09 I'm 54 years old.
49:10 I'm still excited to be sitting next to Santa and Mrs. Claus and the elves, and that's what this is all about, isn't it?
49:16 >> It is, absolutely, making people happy.
49:18 >> Yeah, and the families and seeing them come through and enjoy, and of course, sitting with Santa and giving them lists.
49:24 I'm just going to say right now, there's not too much I need, okay?
49:28 >> Well, whatever list you have, you better send it to the elves in the North Pole, or you may not get your present this year.
49:38 >> Okay, I'm going to get that done very quickly.
49:40 And I've been good, haven't I?
49:42 Yes, you're on the nice list.
49:44 Yes, yes, awesome.
49:47 I want to thank you both very much.
49:49 There you go.
49:50 Santa, Mrs. Claus, the helpers are all here for you to enjoy at Enchant.
49:55 So stick around.
49:56 We've got more for you after this.

52:09 All right, the entertainment out here is amazing.
52:12 It's all because of this young lady right here, Nikki.
52:14 This is great.
52:15 How many performers are out here tonight?
52:17 We have about 40 per night, yes, here at Enchant.
52:20 Christmas at Scottsdale.
52:21 Yeah, and they have them from the singers to the performers?
52:24 We do.
52:25 So our titles, all of our talent is anyone from our Mrs. Claus, our Santa Claus,
52:29 our dancing and singing elves.
52:31 We have seer wheel artists, circ artists, jugglers, stilt walkers, you name it, we have it here.
52:37 Wow, and this is your second year doing this, so you saw new talent come through, didn't you?
52:41 Yes, we've had tons of submissions between last year and this year,
52:45 and I have a really great team this year, so I'm really excited.
52:48 So you said submissions, so people actually audition to be out here?
52:51 They do.
52:52 We have in-person auditions, and then we take virtual submissions as well.
52:55 And is everybody local or anybody from out of town?
52:57 For the most part, local.
52:58 Last year we had some talent coming in from Vegas, but this year we like to keep it strictly local,
53:03 and we have tons of talent here, so it was pretty easy to find.
53:06 Never a dull moment walking around on the concourse or down below?
53:09 No, never a dull moment.
53:11 So lots of fun things to look at and beautiful, beautiful Christmas singers.
53:16 All right, well, okay, you said Christmas singers, so I'm thinking audition,
53:19 when are auditions held, just in case if you need someone, you know,
53:22 chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
53:25 I'm just saying, you know.
53:26 Tired.
53:27 Am I?
53:28 Yeah.
53:29 People do wonder when are auditions, because I know once people come out through here,
53:32 they're going to be like, "Oh, I want to be a part of this."
53:34 Absolutely.
53:35 We'll be back here next year, and we have auditions between August and September,
53:38 so you can follow us on Instagram @enchantchristmas and then @enchantchristmasscottsdale,
53:43 and just keep an eye out for when we post those.
53:45 All right, I've got to make sure I look for those.
53:47 Okay, let's go back to talking about the talent around here,
53:49 because what I love is that there's different sections, different singers going on.
53:52 And actually, each night you can see something different?
53:54 Yeah, we try to bring in a lot of variety.
53:57 I have quite a large roster, and I just rotate everybody.
54:01 So, you know, we do have some guests that come back for a second and third night,
54:05 and we want to make sure that they see something new each night.
54:07 All right.
54:08 I hate to do this, I don't have to put you on the spot.
54:10 What's your favorite right now?
54:11 Ooh, that's tough.
54:13 I want to see, say, like the main man himself, Santa Claus.
54:18 Can't go wrong with that.
54:19 Can't go wrong with Santa Claus, but we have a fantastic seer wheel artist named Sean Cook,
54:24 absolutely fantastic.
54:25 And then we have Paulina Milligan, who is a hand balancer and hula hoop artist.
54:31 They're just absolutely breathtaking.
54:34 I like it. There it is.
54:35 So the entertainment out here going, of course, all night long,
54:38 but you can enjoy it, which is really fun to see.
54:41 And again, is it free to see the entertainment?
54:43 It is, yes.
54:44 There is no extra charge for entertainment.
54:46 A lot of them are buskers, so they'll be coming up to you,
54:49 and then others will be on our small stages near the ice rink and then out on the concourse.
54:54 Yeah, throughout the concourse, not just when you walk in the door, you get some singers,
54:57 but all across, it's amazing.
54:59 So, hey, Nikki, thank you very much.
55:00 Thank you.
55:01 Now it's time for me to go enjoy some more of Enchant.
55:04 All right, will you show me around?
55:05 Let's go see some singers.
55:06 Okay.
55:07 [music]
55:12 We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas,
55:16 we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
55:20 The tidings we bring to you and your kin,
55:24 we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
55:27 We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas,
55:31 we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
55:41 Thank you, everybody.
55:42 Have a great night.
55:43 Merry Christmas.
