00:00 Good morning, it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Wednesday December the 20th,
00:04 bringing you some of our headlines this morning in the city. First up we've got a rather disturbing
00:10 story, it's the Pilly's Appeal actually, some mindless vandals have caused an awful lot of
00:17 damage. 750 trees have been attacked and seriously damaged, were causing £15,000 worth of damage
00:27 actually in the Skello area of Doncaster. They're asking for information about the perpetrators of
00:35 that so please give that a read and if you know anything about those involved please get in touch
00:39 with the police. Then we've got a story for people who will be going out this Friday,
00:45 known locally as Mad Friday, mine won't be a mad one, not like it used to be several years ago
00:51 that's for sure, but what's on offer is what's called a safe haven for people who are out
00:59 partying, having a good time, maybe they get a little bit nervous about people around them,
01:04 they perhaps think you know someone's following them or they're a little bit worse for wear even,
01:11 they're just a bit nervous, maybe they'll get split up from their friends, something like that.
01:16 There's going to be somebody on hand on Mad Friday, there'll be a bus in the city centre
01:23 where people can go and seek some solace and get some help if they need it, which is great news,
01:29 hopefully it won't be needed but it's nice to know that the help is there, especially if you're a
01:36 parent and your young ones are going out on the town, you know there's some help at hand if they
01:42 need it but fingers crossed they do and they have a really really good night out. I know
01:46 it can be quite mad indeed, so yeah that's one of our stories up this morning. Then we've got
01:54 one that came from the British Transport Police yesterday afternoon, a man has appeared in court
01:59 and has been convicted for trespassing on railway lines whilst he was poaching for wildlife with
02:08 dogs. He's received a 500 pound fine, that's not a very good Christmas present for him but that
02:15 might hopefully teach him a lesson not to do again. So that story is also on the website now
02:20 for you, also on Facebook, all of those. So for any stories in Doncaster today just visit
02:26 www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk or of course we'll keep you updated on Facebook and X
02:33 throughout the day. Have a great Wednesday!
