00:00 How's it going everybody? Randall Sweet, All Sooners.com, here to talk more about OU's 2024
00:05 recruiting class. Now I'm going to talk about Danny Akoya, a talented edge rusher that OU added in
00:11 this 2024 class. Now Danny is a four-star recruit, rated one of the top 10 edge rushers in all the
00:18 country, so this is a huge, huge get for the Sooners in this 2024 class. He's listed at 6'4",
00:26 241 pounds. He is a tremendous athlete, one of the best athletes you'll find in all the country
00:33 probably at that size and weight. He's a guy who played tight end, he played offensive line,
00:39 mainly played defensive end, but also some linebacker. I mean really just, he was the
00:44 team's punter, really played all over the field at Tulsa NOAA High School, which is a home school
00:50 actually, so not an in-person high school, but he's got great potential. I mentioned the athleticism
00:56 and the size, he's got really good speed and strength for, again, somebody who's 240 pounds,
01:01 has a high school kid. If he is able to learn the technique, get kind of coached up by Miguel
01:08 Chavis and learn how to be more consistent with his technique. There's some flashes in there where
01:13 your jaw just drops, but if he can learn how to be more consistent with using his hands,
01:18 using some of those pass rush techniques that Miguel Chavis will surely teach him,
01:23 then he's got the potential to be a really, really high level player. He had offers from
01:27 Alabama, from Tennessee, Texas, all over the country, but being a local kid from Tulsa,
01:32 Oklahoma was able to get him to stay at home in that 2024 class. Again, these types of players,
01:39 the size, the athleticism, those are the type of guys that you need heading into the SEC.
01:43 And from what we've seen on social media, he seems pretty happy to be a sooner and pretty
01:48 locked in with the class.
