00:00 How's it going everybody?
00:01 Randall Sweet, All Sooners.com, here to talk more about OU's 2024 recruiting class.
00:06 I'm going to talk about James Nesta, talented linebacker from Cornelius, North Carolina,
00:11 William Amos U High School.
00:14 He's rated a four star linebacker, listed at 6'4", 205 pounds, so good height.
00:20 Obviously will need to put on some weight once he gets to college.
00:22 Jerry Schmidt will be his best friend, I'm sure, once he's a freshman.
00:26 But a guy that Brent Venables, who obviously was a linebacker himself, identified, got
00:32 him to commit over the summer.
00:33 He chose OU over North Carolina, over Miami.
00:37 So some other good schools, some good competition that Oklahoma was able to go into ACC country,
00:42 grab him away from those schools.
00:43 He's a very hard hitting linebacker.
00:45 I mean, if you watch the film, he will flat out lay some people out on the high school
00:51 field.
00:52 So I think that that's what Brent Venables and company love to see from their linebackers.
00:55 I'm sure Ted Rufa had a say in that as well.
00:58 In the film that I watched, I saw him play both on-ball and off-ball linebacker.
01:03 I would imagine in college he fits as more of an off-ball linebacker, again, given the
01:07 way that he flies around the field.
01:09 He's not afraid to go down and hit people.
01:11 And just kind of the size, I think, and the build, his physique, I think, lends itself
01:15 more to an off-ball, more middle linebacker role.
01:18 And I think that that's probably what Brent Venables and company have in mind for him.
01:23 But he's another very, very talented athlete, again, 6'4", long arms, another guy like Taylor
01:29 Tatum who's coming to OU to play both football and baseball.
01:32 So a guy that Skip Johnson and Brent Venables will both get to enjoy the talents of.
01:36 And I think that, again, the attitude, how hard he likes to hit, the way he plays the
01:42 game, I think, is something that Brent Venables and company really value in this recruit.
