00:00 How's it going?
00:01 Randall Sweet, All Sooners.com, here to talk about Zion Kearney, another member of OU's
00:06 2024 signing day class.
00:08 Now Zion Kearney is the build of an SEC four-star receiver that you'd expect.
00:12 Six foot two, 210 pounds, he's fast, he can jump, he's really strong, well built.
00:18 Really what you'd expect a high-rated SEC receiver to look like.
00:22 These are the guys that OU's going to need to put on the outside if they want to win.
00:26 They want to be able to beat some of those bigger defensive backs that they're going
00:28 to face in the SEC.
00:30 Again Kearney is a four-star recruit, he's rated one of the top 110, 120 players in the
00:34 entire country, depending on what service you follow.
00:38 From the Houston area, Missouri City to be specific, again great in contested catch situations,
00:42 especially against smaller defensive backs.
00:45 When he's targeted downfield, size, physicality, those things are evident.
00:48 He's able to go up and really kind of box out defensive backs sometimes, other times
00:53 jumping straight over guys and grabbing the ball out of the air.
00:58 He's got a lot of speed for as big as he is, he can run by defensive backs.
01:02 And in run after catch situations he's really good at breaking tackles.
01:05 Once he gets the ball in his hands he's not easy to bring down, being as big as he is.
01:09 And he's also got a great connection already with Michael Hawkins.
01:12 I saw those two first hand at the Brent Venables Elite Camp over the summer.
01:17 They were able to connect on multiple deep shots in one-on-one drills, so it looks like
01:21 those two already kind of have it rolling coming onto campus.
01:25 And of course Kearney was one of the first players in OU's 2024 class to come out and
01:30 say that he was still locked in with the Sooners, he was still committed to OU when Jeff Levy
01:35 announced that he was leaving for Mississippi State.
