UNLV Rebels linebacker Jackson Woodard discusses his impressions and preparations for the Kansas Jayhawks.
Transcript
00:00 >> Hey Jackson, so when the opponent for the game first came up, Kansas,
00:04 what were your initial impressions of Kansas with what they've done the last
00:07 couple of years?
00:08 >> Yeah, so the only game I got to watch them during the season was Oklahoma.
00:12 And I saw how good they were, explosive.
00:15 And they're just well coached, they play really hard.
00:19 And so I knew that they were gonna be a really good team and
00:22 then being able to watch film on them, it proved me right, they're a really good team.
00:26 And so we got a tall task at hand, we're gonna have to put a great game plan
00:30 together and then go execute.
00:32 >> With the options that they do have, what stands out to you though as kind of
00:37 the most, or I should say, what was the first impression in terms of the most
00:40 dangerous thing or the thing that you saw that was like, man,
00:43 that's gonna be interesting to try to stop?
00:45 >> Yeah, they got a really unique offense that's different than most.
00:49 So getting lined up is gonna be the main thing for us.
00:52 And then they got athletes everywhere.
00:54 I mean, you look from quarterback to running back to receivers,
00:58 they're all athletes.
00:59 So it's gonna be a tall task, like I said, to be able to stop them.
01:05 >> And the fact that they don't necessarily have a true number one receiver,
01:08 does that make it harder to game plan because they have so
01:10 many different options to go?
01:11 Or is it a little easier not to have to deal with a guy that can go up and
01:14 catch it whenever he wants, basically?
01:15 >> No, I mean, for sure, they get the ball to many different players,
01:22 which makes it harder, like you said.
01:25 I mean, they're a good team, well coached.
01:28 They can all make plays.
01:29 So we're gonna have to play our best to get the win.
01:33 >> This is your second year in a row playing the Jayhawks in the bowl game.
01:36 Anything different this year from getting ready for them last year?
01:40 >> Yeah, I think their offense has changed.
01:43 Quarterback's obviously different.
01:47 Running back's the same guy.
01:51 It's the same team, though really well coached.
01:53 They play tough, play hard.
01:57 Last one came down to the final play.
01:59 So I mean, it's gonna come down to that this year.
02:03 It's gonna be a hard game.
02:05 I'm obviously on a different team this year.
02:08 I'm excited.
02:11 It's a great opportunity for us.
02:13 So I'm ready.
