00:00 How are you? You look beautiful on your day.
00:03 So do y'all. Goodness, y'all holding it down. I love it.
00:05 We're bundled up.
00:06 I know. I'm a little jealous. I'm not going to lie.
00:08 Right?
00:10 A part of my outfit is goosebumps.
00:11 This comes with the custom look today.
00:14 So what does a movie score have to do to truly move you?
00:19 A movie score, what a movie score has to do to truly move you
00:24 is understand the story.
00:27 You know, that's the one thing that I've learned just being a part of movies
00:30 in the brief time that I've been, is that everything has to serve the story.
00:34 So the movie score has to kind of get out of the way sometimes, you know.
00:38 The movie score has to fill the space when it's necessary.
00:41 I think it really needs to pay attention to the story,
00:43 understand the ebb and flow of the story and the performances,
00:47 and then just kind of wrap everything, like a warm blanket, wrap everything in that.
00:50 Yes, serve the story is what I would say.
00:52 I feel like you kind of do that with your music as well.
00:54 You're serving a story. You're creating a story of your life.
00:57 Of your emotions, of your experiences.
01:00 I'm guessing there's probably a lot of similarities with that.
01:03 Oh yes, definitely. I think, you know, like you said, the story is of your life.
01:06 You know, so even like, I'm plugging, but we are releasing an album actually this year.
01:11 And that's what it's doing.
01:12 It's like kind of just the framework of my life in the last six years.
01:15 The ups and downs, you know, where my head was at during Billie
01:19 and what it was like coming out of that, and relationships, life, love.
01:22 So, you know, you're serving the story. That's what music, I think, always does.
01:26 Well, that's what's crazy about, especially you with Billie Holiday.
01:28 You're representing someone else's story too.
01:31 How do you capture that in the most authentic way?
01:34 I think that you, first you respect and you honor the person.
01:39 And I think you also understand that while you're not just impersonating them,
01:44 you still, in order to bring them to life, you have to bring your own life experiences.
01:47 So I think more than anything, it's not just a becoming,
01:50 but it's a connecting with who that character and who that person is, I believe.
01:54 So not that much experience in it, but yeah, here we are.
01:57 I love it. I love it. And lastly, what song were you listening to while getting ready today?
02:01 Oh God, I was listening to Beyoncé Renaissance whole album.
02:05 Yes. I just feel like I just get to the point, you know what I mean?
02:08 If I'm getting ready and I want to be fierce, why am I not listening to Beyoncé?
02:11 Exactly. The queen knows. Exactly.
02:14 Well, thank you so much, Andrea. I'm such a big fan.
