Lancashire's police and crime commissioner Andrew Snoden with an update from the road policing unit, and their Christmas drink-drive campaign
Transcript
00:00 Hi, I'm Andrew Snowden, Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner and in this week's
00:05 update video I want to talk about the recent campaign by the Lancashire Police, new dedicated
00:11 24/7 roads policing teams campaign to keep our roads safe over the Christmas and festive
00:18 period. We know that there is a spike in drink and drug driving over the Christmas and New
00:23 Year period and it is on the police to do as much as they can, working with other agencies
00:29 and partners to reduce the potential for fatalities or accidents at this time of year as a result
00:35 of this reckless behaviour. People's lives, people's Christmases can be ruined and the
00:41 consequences for those drink and drug drivers is beyond just losing their licence if they
00:46 are caught, they could lose their livelihood and their freedom if they cause injury to
00:51 others. So as part of over 1,500 breathalyser and drug tests on the roads of Lancashire
00:58 over the Christmas and festive period led to over 270 people being arrested for drink
01:05 or drug driving. Sending a really clear message from me, from Lancashire Police and from everyone
01:12 involved, we will not tolerate it and if you do drink or drug drive you risk getting caught.
01:19 So get help or get caught.
