00:00 The Amley Gyratory, a while ago, I think they've just about finished it.
00:03 I know you're talking about the traffic the other day, but you said it was going to be finished in summer 2023.
00:09 It did. It lingered on. It just lingered on and lingered on.
00:12 Yeah.
00:13 To be honest with you, you see guys who are supposed to be working and they're not working.
00:20 They're all in a crowd of five or six people.
00:23 And there's one guy working, better than having a faggot on, and on the mobile phones.
00:29 Yeah, yeah.
00:30 That's the truth.
00:31 But yeah, it was absolute chaos.
00:34 To get from Crossgate to here took two hours.
00:38 Gosh.
00:39 It normally took 15 minutes.
00:41 Yeah, yeah.
00:42 It's a big issue in Leeds as well, isn't it? Traffic and roadworks and stuff like that.
00:46 Honestly, I've never seen...
00:47 They just seem to be doing roadworks that they've already done and they just redo it again.
00:52 The amount of potholes there is on a road, you can lose your grip on your steering wheel if you're hitting it that hard.
01:00 So you've got lack of concentration there because you try to look out for all the potholes.
01:06 And if you hit one, you're in trouble.
01:09 Yeah. Well, they do what they do, I think.
01:13 I don't know why they'd mess with the on-directory.
01:16 As far as it is, they didn't need to mess with that.
01:18 Yeah, yeah.
01:19 They're making it worse, to be fair.
01:20 Really?
01:21 I mean, it was nice over the weekend because I live on Tongue Road, so it was quiet.
01:25 Right.
01:26 Once the road had a lot of traffic coming up and down it.
01:29 Yeah, and also at the city centre, that's just horrendous.
01:32 I don't even go in the city centre in the car anymore.
01:34 Really?
01:35 Because it's just that bad.
01:36 Yeah.
01:37 It's all changed.
01:38 I mean, growing up, growing up in Bredleys, you go to the city centre and it's just different on the road.
01:42 You try and turn down one road and you can't anymore.
01:44 I've known all my life that you could go down that road and now you can't.
01:47 Yeah, yeah.
01:48 It's just somewhere I avoid.
01:49 Like the plague now, because it's horrendous.
01:50 Yeah.
01:51 I guess the road works are a part of that.
01:54 It's about them trying to fix it and make it more sort of usable, but do you not think it's going to help?
02:00 It worked before.
02:02 Why mess with something that worked?
02:05 Yeah.
02:06 You know, if it didn't work before, then fair enough.
02:08 I can see reasons why, like the Armour Drive, like the town, there were never any problems before.
02:13 It all flowed and everyone got to go where they needed to go without hassle.
02:17 Now it's just a big hassle. People just restrict with it.
02:20 It impacts everything really, doesn't it?
02:22 I mean, for everything to work properly, people need to get places.
02:28 And I guess if it's improving, then that's alright, but I feel like there needs to be...
02:36 I think if you speak to anybody that drives all the time or every day, there needs to be something else added.
02:43 Either more roads being built or a new way to get around.
02:48 Yeah.
02:49 Yeah, alternate...
02:51 The tram network seems to be the big call.
02:53 Yeah, the tram network. And then, you know, it's another way of people...
02:57 Because I used to get the train from Burley Park in the morning into the city, and even if the trains were on time, it was so full, you couldn't get on the train.
03:06 Because I think only a certain size train can go over that bridge.
03:09 Yeah, yeah.
03:10 So, you know, you're either... Even when they're on time, there's still not enough services.
03:16 Yeah, yeah.
03:17 So, I guess people could get snow tires on their bikes or some tennis shoes and strap them to your feet.
03:26 Did you see any of the traffic over the weekend or hear about what happened?
03:31 I heard about it. Luckily enough, I wasn't here for the weekend, so I was out and about.
03:37 But I heard about... I think there was football matches and roadworks and everything else going on.
03:44 I've heard people say traffic for a long time.
03:49 But it is what it is. We've just got to find new solutions, I guess.
