Switzerland and China discussing enhancement of their relationship

Chinese Premier Li Qiang is in Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum but he also met his Swiss counterpart to discuss how to enhance the relationship, including #economic and #financial matters as well as visa-free #travel.

00:00 This was the first highest level meeting between Switzerland and China since the Covid-19 pandemic
00:06 and both sides welcomed these talks because they had so many topics to discuss and they
00:11 agreed to continue this dialogue. Well, one of the Premier of China, Li Jiang, he received first of
00:17 all a military honours before the meeting began just here in Bern and then the two sides, the
00:24 President of Switzerland and the Premier of China, they sat down for a bilateral talk and then that
00:30 was followed by an expanded conversation between the delegations of the two sides. So one of the
00:37 first topics was the discussion about the dialogue between the foreign ministries of the two
00:41 countries which is to be resumed this year and the dialogue on economic and financial matters
00:47 are also going to be resumed and they also talked about the possibility of including
00:53 Switzerland on the list of countries whose residents can enjoy a visa-free entry to China
01:01 for up to 15 days and also they signed a joint declaration on further development of the free
01:07 trade agreement between China and Switzerland. Well, Switzerland and China, they maintain
01:12 close contacts, they have maintained them for many years and China is actually Switzerland's third
01:17 largest trade partner globally after the EU and the US and Switzerland is also one in about 60
01:24 countries that maintains a strategic partnership with China and so following these talks here in
01:30 Bern, China's Premier will continue his state visit to Switzerland by travelling to Davos to
01:36 take part in the World Economic Forum there.
