The Liberal Democrats have held Stannington ward in a by-election to choose the successor to long-serving councillor, Vickie Priestley, who sadly died following a battle with cancer in November 2023.

NHS Cardiologist, Will Sapwell, acknowledged he had very big shoes to fill, after being elected Sheffield newest city councillor by 1,000 votes. Local Democracy Reporter, Julia Armstrong, spoke with the man after his victory in this video - which includes footage from Liberal Democrat members as they celebrated the result.

00:04 on the hard work we've put in this campaign but for the decades of service that Vicky

00:13 going to take me time to fill them but I will try my absolute hardest to do so as quickly
00:17 as possible.

00:30 speak up to the South Yorkshire Mayority on this.
