00:03 Now, when you visit the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk here
00:29 in Ayodhya, you're likely to be greeted by devotional songs
00:34 in her melodious voice.
00:35 But until that happens, what you're most likely to hear
00:39 is the sound of construction.
00:41 It's not just the consecration of a new temple
00:45 that's taking place.
00:46 It's the construction of a new city and in record time.
00:50 Vision for Ayodhya is to make it a global capital--
00:55 global spiritual capital of the world.
00:57 That is the line which has been given to us by Honorable Prime
01:00 Minister Sir and Honorable Chief Minister Sir.
01:03 What does that take?
01:04 So far, it's taken a juggernaut of over 176 development
01:11 and infrastructure projects, costing the state exchequer
01:15 over 35,000 crore rupees and with an eye on religious
01:20 tourism to help propel growth.
01:22 We have immense potential as far as tourism in Uttar Pradesh
01:26 is concerned, and that too particularly
01:29 faith-based religious and spiritual tourism.
01:33 Ayodhya being one of the most important destinations,
01:38 and as we know that globally there
01:42 is significant presence of Hindu followers or Sanatan
01:47 followers, so obviously everybody
01:50 is actually aspiring to visit Ayodhya in coming years.
01:54 And that way, after the prana pratishtha,
01:58 or consecration of this Sri Ram Lila idol
02:03 and inauguration of Sri Ram temple,
02:07 obviously people would certainly come
02:12 in a big number, for which government has already
02:16 developed lots of infrastructure.
02:19 Key projects include the international airport, railway
02:22 station, and construction of roads to and in Ayodhya,
02:27 to name just a few.
02:29 Already in Ayodhya, many projects of about 35,000 crore
02:38 rupees are going on or completed.
02:42 Road widening has already been done,
02:45 and many roads, like inside roads and roads
02:51 coming to Ayodhya, all these roads,
02:53 we account for them, all these roads have been developed.
02:58 Railway over bridges, flyovers, underpasses, parking,
03:05 infrastructure has been developed.
03:06 We have developed toilet facilities,
03:10 Panchkoshi Parikrama Mar, we have developed Chaurasi Koshi,
03:15 Chauda Koshi Parikrama Mar, because these
03:17 are some important routes, which are very important as far
03:22 as pilgrimage is concerned, because people, on certain days,
03:28 they take Parikrama of Ayodhya also.
03:31 So for home stays, accommodation facilities,
03:38 in collaboration with certain home stay agencies,
03:43 we have developed many-- in fact,
03:45 we motivated people who can spare minimum two rooms to six
03:51 rooms to start home stay facilities at their own houses.
03:56 And more than 1,000 home stays we have already set up.
04:03 Apart from these, we have also invited people
04:09 to invest in the hospitality sector,
04:11 set up their hotels or hospitality units,
04:14 and I am glad to tell you that more than 50 investors have
04:24 already shown their interest.
04:25 They've got their hospitality units registered
04:29 with the tourism department, for which they will get a subsidy
04:35 to set up hotels or guest houses there.
04:39 And that our UP tourism policy 2022 supports it that way.
04:48 The emphasis on connectivity is hard to miss.
04:51 Means of connectivity planned include flights, trains, buses,
04:56 choppers, catamarans, and even a river cruise.
05:00 Take your pick.
05:02 Well, recently, the most important project
05:03 was starting an airport here for better connectivity
05:06 from different metro cities, which was inaugurated
05:09 by Honorable Prime Minister Sir.
05:11 And along with that, multi-story complexes
05:14 have been inaugurated.
05:15 Five of them in the city were inaugurated
05:17 by Honorable Prime Minister Sir.
05:19 Within the city roads, that four major roads that
05:21 have been widened, you also had a kind of-- everybody
05:24 has seen it, so they are now available to public
05:27 to move around.
05:28 Railway station has been constructed,
05:30 and now that was also inaugurated
05:31 by Prime Minister Sir.
05:32 And doubling of railway track is going on,
05:36 covering of concourse is going on.
05:37 So these are all landmark projects.
05:39 And then in addition to all this, two more projects.
05:43 One is of creating a ring road across Ayodhya,
05:46 and then Chaurasi-Kosi-Parikrama Marg, and Chaudhari-Kosi
05:48 and Panchkosi-Kosi-Parikrama Marg.
05:49 They're also big ticket projects which
05:51 are under implementation.
05:52 In addition to these, all the entry roads
05:54 from different cities that are coming, six of them,
05:57 to be precise, are all being broadened
05:59 into a four lane and six lane.
06:02 A couple of them have already been done,
06:04 and the rest of them are also in advanced stage.
06:06 And very soon, the city will be connected
06:08 with four lanes from all the nearing cities, nearby cities.
06:11 That is also an important landmark project.
06:14 And I think it all adds up.
06:17 We are starting very soon.
06:19 Catamarans have been launched here,
06:21 and we'll be launching e-boats-- e-cruise, rather,
06:26 in Sarju River by Inland Waterways Development Authority.
06:31 And that also will be operational soon.
06:32 So these are all some big ticket projects.
06:35 The city in its entirety is being
06:38 planned as a solar smart city, keeping
06:41 in mind Vedic architectural principles or Vastu Shastra.
06:46 In the whole city, when you go through the lanes or bylanes
06:51 or the main roads, you will find that we
06:55 have done facade treatment of all the shops, houses, also.
07:01 And everything is on the Vedic architecture principles.
07:09 So basically, we have adopted Vedic architecture
07:12 for each and every building, because we
07:17 know that Lord Rama was the clan of the sun god.
07:23 So [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] which we call it.
07:26 So that is why we are in Ayodhya.
07:31 We are planning as a solar city also, number one.
07:36 Number two, we are also planning to develop a temple museum,
07:43 which will actually showcase the philosophy behind the temple
07:49 making, the philosophy of worship,
07:53 philosophy of offering pancha mahabhuta,
07:59 and architecture of temples from different parts of the country,
08:04 and even from different countries globally.
08:08 So that way, temple architecture will showcase not only
08:12 the philosophy, but engineering, structure, architecture,
08:19 and every aspect of temple.
08:22 Same way, the government buildings,
08:26 or the hotels, and other structures
08:30 which are coming up in the city, we
08:33 have actually requested people to make all these buildings
08:39 on Vedic principles, Vedic architecture principles,
08:43 Vastu shastra.
08:45 While there might be over 50 hotels coming up in Ayodhya,
08:48 if you're a budget traveler, there's
08:50 plenty to choose from for you as well.
08:53 We're developing dormitories to cater to low budget people,
09:01 or those who can afford dormitories.
09:03 We have developed Rann Basera near bus station.
09:08 We have also developed Tent City.
09:10 And we are developing many other facilities also.
09:14 All the six major roads approaching to Ayodhya,
09:19 there we have acquired 20 to 30 acres of land.
09:26 And we will develop gate complexes.
09:28 Each gate complex will have budget accommodations,
09:33 luxury accommodations.
09:35 It will have yoga centers, wellness center.
09:40 It will have small health care facilities, police station,
09:46 petrol pumps, toilets, parking, and all the tourist amenities.
09:53 So that also, in all the roads on the roadside amenities,
10:02 every road will have this kind of facility.
10:05 While public capex takes the lead,
10:07 private investments too are slowly coming in.

10:28 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
10:56 One of the hotels that's come and created a buzz already
11:00 is the Tent City.
11:01 We spoke to the general manager there,
11:03 who believes that for at least the next six months,
11:06 they're going to be booked out.
11:08 So like Praveg has two Tent Cities in Ayodhya.
11:12 If we talk about the occupancy part,
11:13 then yes, we have started this resort in--
11:18 I would say from last 20 days.
11:20 So we are getting a very good and very positive response
11:23 from the market.
11:24 And yes, after 20 seconds, when the function will over,
11:26 and we have a very good booking and very positive and very
11:31 charming response from the market.
11:34 All right.
11:34 So occupancy rates for the next few months
11:37 are at close to about 100%, would it be fair to say?
11:40 Yes.
11:40 I think for next six months, we will be doing it till 100%.
11:45 Private real estate developers too are making inroads.
11:49 Led by the spiritual tourism that the city is witnessing,
11:56 there has been a significant spurt in economic activity led
12:01 by the opening of the international airport,
12:06 the railway station, the way the hospitality industry is shaping
12:12 up, infrastructural development, roads, highways, et cetera,
12:18 is all leading to the fact that Ayodhya
12:24 will emerge as a leading spiritual capital
12:30 for not just for the country, but for the globe.
12:33 And that's where the interest germinated for us.
12:36 And we are glad that we have been proven right about what
12:42 we thought about the city a couple of years
12:47 back when we first decided to look at Ayodhya
12:52 and at Uttar Pradesh specifically as a part
12:55 of our business expansion.
12:57 All of this because the government expects over 2
13:00 lakh tourists a day.
13:03 Right now, we are getting like 25,000 to 30,000 people
13:07 per day.
13:08 But after 22nd or the day we start allowing public.
13:16 So 2 lakh to more than 2 lakhs per day arrival
13:22 we are expecting.
13:23 The government is in full swing for the floodgates
13:26 to burst post January 22nd.
13:30 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
13:32 The development of infrastructure
14:01 and the estimated tourist inflow
14:04 is expected to provide employment and drive up
14:07 per capita incomes.
14:09 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
14:30 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
14:56 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
15:15 The local administration believes
15:17 that already local residents are seeing benefits.
15:22 I really don't really remember the figure
15:25 what would have been per capita income three and a half
15:27 or four years back when the temple decision came
15:31 from the honorable court.
15:33 But I am 200% sure that by today,
15:36 per capita income must have at least grown by 50%.
15:41 And number of people who were looking
15:44 for any kind of employment earlier
15:46 and they need to move out of Ayodhya
15:49 for the different kind of opportunities
15:52 to work somewhere.
15:54 Now they're all coming back to Ayodhya.
15:56 If you can visit in some good hotels here,
15:59 you will see that many of the kids who
16:01 are working somewhere else now they have come back.
16:03 With the opening of the big retail shops,
16:05 now people who are working in some mall
16:07 or somewhere else in Lucknow or Delhi or wherever,
16:10 now they're also coming back and started
16:12 working in these kind of multi-brand convenience stores
16:16 in Ayodhya.
16:17 So I don't have economic data to back my statement,
16:23 but I'm sure it has changed by leaps and bounds.
16:26 And it is changing on a daily basis.
16:29 Plus disposable income has increased,
16:32 as I just kind of mentioned to your colleague,
16:36 because a lot of money has been distributed to people
16:39 in terms of compensations also.
16:41 We have acquired land around the Chaudh Kosi Parikrama Marg,
16:46 Panch Kosi Parikrama Marg.
16:48 Then the city road within the city also has been widened,
16:54 so properties have been acquired.
16:56 Then land is being acquired for the Ring Road project.
17:00 Then land is being acquired for Chaudh Kosi Parikrama Marg.
17:03 So a lot of infrastructure projects
17:05 are being now implemented.
17:07 And all of that basically leads to a lot of distribution
17:10 of money amongst the public and masses.
17:13 And it has now increased their financial capability
17:16 and spendability.
17:17 And that money is actually circulating back to market.
17:20 So things are changing and perspectives are good.
17:23 Number of visitors is increasing on a daily basis.
17:27 A lot has changed.
17:28 There is widening all around.
17:30 Everyone is unemployed.
17:34 The government is doing a great job.
17:37 So many people are coming.
17:38 What will the people of Ayodhya be happy about?
17:41 Earlier, 5000-10,000 people didn't come daily,
17:43 now it's 2000.
17:44 Today, lakhs of people are coming.
17:46 Everyone's employment has increased.
17:48 Everyone in Ayodhya is happy.
17:50 For a region which has perpetually struggled
17:53 with a mismatch in labour force and job creation,
17:57 the temple presents a bellwether of opportunity.
18:01 Well, it's not just a change in faith
18:04 that the people here appear to be witnessing.
18:07 It's more importantly, a change in fortune.
18:09 Ayodhya, the land of the free and the home of the brave.
