00:00 (upbeat music)
00:02 Hi, Jessie here, and I'm at the Botanica Resort in Costa Rica.
00:10 Today, I'm gonna take you on a quick tour of the property,
00:12 as well as show you some of the reasons why
00:13 this is such a wonderful place to visit.
00:15 Let's go.
00:16 Botanica Osa Peninsula is located on,
00:25 you guessed it, the Osa Peninsula,
00:27 which is on the southern part
00:28 of the country's Pacific coast.
00:30 Even by Costa Rican standards,
00:32 the Osa is incredibly biodiverse,
00:34 both on land and in the ocean.
00:37 It's home to an estimated 250,000 different species
00:41 of plant and wildlife,
00:42 including hundreds found nowhere else on Earth.
00:45 Although the area is wild and rugged,
00:48 Botanica is a modern, calm,
00:50 and convenient base for exploring it all.
00:53 As part of Hilton's Curio Collection,
00:55 which is the brand's line of more boutique hotels
00:57 and resorts, Botanica has the amenities you'd expect
01:00 from any Hilton worldwide,
01:02 like reliable Wi-Fi and comfortable beds.
01:05 But it also has its own unique design and aesthetic
01:07 that gives it a much more Costa Rican feel.
01:09 Among the 114 rooms, guests can choose from a studio
01:14 or a one, two, or three-bedroom suite,
01:16 the largest of which can sleep up to 10 people.
01:19 Suites come with a balcony or patio,
01:21 living room, and full kitchen,
01:23 and all of the rooms are fully air-conditioned
01:25 and electricity is powered by solar panels.
01:28 Unlike a lot of the other hotels in the area,
01:31 these rooms do not feature an open-air design,
01:34 which may be a pro or a con, depending on your travel style.
01:37 One of the first things I noticed about this property
01:39 is just how close to nature it is,
01:41 which I personally love because that's one
01:43 of the main reasons why we came to the Osa Peninsula.
01:46 We've also discovered that you don't really have
01:47 to go far to see nature.
01:49 There's been mornings where the macaws have come up
01:52 right up to our balcony,
01:53 and we've been able to see some pretty incredible wildlife
01:55 without even leaving.
01:56 That said, a few guests did express disappointment
02:00 at not being right on the beach.
02:02 However, this was a conscious decision meant
02:04 to conserve the nearby mangroves and coastal ecosystems
02:07 while building the hotel.
02:08 Knowing this, I was more than okay walking 10 minutes
02:11 down the road for those ocean views.
02:13 Plus, the plant-filled pool area right next
02:16 to the resort's casual restaurant and bar, Giza,
02:18 is a highlight of the hotel and more than makes up for it
02:21 with its spacious swimming area.
02:24 Other amenities include a gym, spa, excursions desk,
02:28 and a second restaurant, Tierra a la Mesa,
02:30 which is open for breakfast and dinner.
02:33 Thanks to its popularity among locals,
02:34 it's a lively place to be once the sun goes down.
02:37 Speaking of excursions, outdoor activities like hiking
02:41 in nearby Corcovado National Park and deep-sea fishing
02:44 are the main draw for visitors here,
02:46 so we're gonna go check those out as well.
02:48 Anglers come here from all over to fish rooster fish,
02:52 tuna, mahi-mahi, and dozens of other species.
02:56 But preserving this marine ecosystem
02:58 is also incredibly important,
02:59 so fishing here is mostly catch and release,
03:02 and anglers are only allowed to keep five fish
03:05 per boat per day to help preserve the natural ecosystem.
03:08 Deep-sea fishing is actually really big here at Botanica,
03:12 since it replaced an old fishing resort named Crocodile Bay.
03:16 The owners are still involved in Botanica,
03:18 but they're not able to focus full-time
03:19 on their fishing charters.
03:21 So they're not able to do much
03:23 with their fishing equipment.
03:24 So they're not able to do much
03:26 with their fishing equipment.
03:28 So they're not able to do much
03:30 with their fishing equipment.
03:32 So they're not able to do much
03:34 with their fishing equipment.
03:36 So they're not able to do much
03:38 with their fishing equipment.
03:40 So they're not able to do much
03:42 with their fishing equipment.
03:44 So they're not able to do much
03:46 with their fishing equipment.
03:48 So they're not able to do much
03:50 with their fishing equipment.
03:52 So they're not able to do much
03:54 with their fishing equipment.
03:56 So they're not able to do much
03:58 with their fishing equipment.
04:00 So they're not able to do much
04:02 with their fishing equipment.
04:04 So they're not able to do much
04:06 with their fishing equipment.
04:08 So they're not able to do much
04:10 with their fishing equipment.
04:12 So they're not able to do much
04:14 with their fishing equipment.
04:16 So they're not able to do much
04:18 with their fishing equipment.
04:20 So they're not able to do much
04:22 with their fishing equipment.
04:24 So they're not able to do much
04:26 with their fishing equipment.
04:28 So they're not able to do much
04:30 with their fishing equipment.
04:32 So they're not able to do much
04:34 with their fishing equipment.
04:36 So they're not able to do much
04:38 with their fishing equipment.
04:40 So they're not able to do much
04:42 with their fishing equipment.
04:44 So they're not able to do much
04:46 with their fishing equipment.
04:48 So they're not able to do much
04:50 with their fishing equipment.
04:52 So they're not able to do much
04:54 with their fishing equipment.
04:56 So they're not able to do much
04:58 with their fishing equipment.
05:00 So they're not able to do much
05:02 with their fishing equipment.
05:04 So they're not able to do much
05:06 with their fishing equipment.
05:08 So they're not able to do much
05:10 with their fishing equipment.
05:12 So they're not able to do much
05:14 with their fishing equipment.
