Transcript
00:00 >> What was the takeaway after watching film from Saturday for you guys?
00:05 >> We just gotta apply the mistakes that we're making into the next game.
00:08 We gotta make sure we're boxing out a little better, transition D.
00:12 Yeah, we just gotta apply those to the game and I think next game will be fun.
00:18 >> Well, since it's kind of in that last eight to ten minutes,
00:23 at least in both the last two games where the other teams went on big runs.
00:26 What can you guys do to try to keep the defensive intensity up down the stretch?
00:31 >> Yeah, I mean, we gotta know those last seven minutes is winning time.
00:34 So I think we just gotta buy in second half, we're away from our bench.
00:38 We gotta really lock in and know the scout.
00:42 We gotta know our numbers a little better.
00:43 We're giving three point shooters good looks out there.
00:46 So I think we just gotta know our numbers a little better.
00:50 >> What's that mood like in the locker room Saturday?
00:52 Is that one tougher to bounce back from?
00:55 >> I mean, shoot, I think you just gotta have a mindset of just getting ready for
01:01 the next one.
01:02 K-State's a good team.
01:05 So I think we just gotta get ready for the next one.
01:09 We're not in there depressed or anything.
01:11 I mean, we know it's a long season, so we'll be fine.
01:14 >> How do you guys kinda keep everything from snowballing after back to back home
01:18 losses like that?
01:19 >> Yeah, we gotta learn from our mistakes.
01:21 We can't keep watching film and keep making the same mistakes.
01:24 So I think if we just listen to the game plan a little better,
01:29 we'll be fine for the next game.
01:30 >> Say anything to Javion, which were a tough one for him the other day.
01:35 >> Yeah, I mean, shoot, these guys keep playing, keep playing, keep pooping.
01:38 He'll be fine.
01:39 We all had slumps in the season.
01:40 So I think right now he's just going through one.
01:42 And when he gets out of it, he'll be good.
01:45 >> Do you guys feel like an increased sense of urgency just because you're going on
01:49 the road for two games and
01:50 just knowing how tough it is to win on the road in this league?
01:53 >> Yeah, definitely.
01:54 I mean, I feel like we have our backs against the wall right now.
01:56 So these are must wins for us.
01:59 So that's what we wanna come out and do.
02:01 >> Your thoughts on Kansas State?
02:02 >> Yeah, they're a good team.
02:04 They got good players.
02:05 They got a lot of shooters on the perimeter and they got good bigs.
02:10 So, shoot, I think it's gonna be a tough one again on the road, but
02:15 I think we're ready for it.
02:16 >> Talk about second half defensively, staying locked in.
02:18 Is that a spot where you can come in and be more vocal in that spots to come in and
02:23 make sure one's on top of everything and stay tight with that?
02:26 >> Definitely.
02:26 Yeah, I think against Texas in the second half, they shot over 50%.
02:32 And then against Texas Tech, they shot over 70%.
02:34 So it's gonna be hard to win games with scratch or scoring like that.
02:38 And I think for sure, I gotta be a better leader out there in the second half.
02:43 And really emphasize getting stops.
02:47 >> Anything you can take from the Cincinnati trip to Manhattan,
02:51 in terms of preparation or anything like that?
02:54 >> Yeah, we got the same preparation every game.
02:57 I think going on the road, shoot, I mean, we beat Cincinnati on the road.
03:02 It was a tough environment to play in.
03:04 So I know our guys know what it's gonna be like at K State.
03:07 I think we'll be ready, man.
03:10 I think we'll be fine.
