00:06 >> All right, everyone, we have Tamir, Trey, and Micah.
00:10 Questions?
00:11 >> 23 points from the nine, Trey, we'll just work with you.
00:16 >> No, just playing with an offense and just showing them wrong.
00:19 Just being ready.
00:23 >> Micah, it looked like TCU leaned on you defensively, especially in that second
00:27 half to make life difficult for Pope Isaacs and some of their other guards.
00:30 I know that you've talked a lot about how much you pride yourself on your defense,
00:34 but talk about how important that was to this game specifically tonight.
00:37 >> Yeah, I like to take the best, I mean, I like to take the challenge every game
00:41 to guard the best player, and that happened to be Pope Isaacs this game.
00:45 And it was tough, he's a good player, he can shoot the ball well, so
00:49 I just tried to shut him down as well as I could.
00:51 >> Trey, how much better do you think you've gotten since you came to TCU?
00:55 >> A ton, I was just talking about this yesterday with my teammates from
00:57 Corpus, just, I find just playing against them every single day,
01:01 cuz he's been in a big trouble.
01:02 Me and him actually been working out together every day since sophomore,
01:06 freshman year in college.
01:08 So, and I've seen the difference in the way I play them now,
01:12 just been able to kill him now before I wasn't able to.
01:15 Cuz I came, I was low major D, Q code, so.
01:18 >> Okay.
01:19 >> I was just, I can see the difference in the way I play him,
01:22 like being able to break stuff down, cuz it's kind of a different,
01:25 it's a different IQ and different athleticism from the level I came in.
01:28 So just working out, being, working hard every day, he can say the same thing,
01:33 just some jobs just ain't gonna be there, so I'm nice.
01:37 Got to adjust and fly.
01:40 >> Micah, four made threes is a new career high for you.
01:42 How have you improved your shooting throughout your career and
01:44 gotten to this point?
01:46 >> It's just continuous work.
01:47 I was actually talking to one of our GAs yesterday when I was working out,
01:51 I was like, it's gonna fall.
01:53 Cuz I'm working every day hard on my shot, and
01:57 I've gone cold the past couple games, but I knew it was gonna come.
02:01 I'm just staying in the gym and keep shooting.
02:04 >> When you hit the game, when you're on Saturday,
02:06 you kind of hit the dagger tonight.
02:07 Just how comfortable are you in those big time moments in the coach?
02:12 >> I love those type moments.
02:13 I feel like everybody on our team loves those type moments.
02:15 Just so I have to trick pass me the ball.
02:18 I didn't think I was gonna pass the ball to him the last day.
02:20 I'm glad I made it, I'm glad I made it through.
02:24 >> Micah, is having this kind of game against Tech,
02:27 do you get a little bit extra cues from that?
02:28 Or has it been so long that it doesn't even register anymore?
02:32 >> Yeah, I was telling her, cuz our teammates in Super Owls,
02:35 like, you're playing here old school.
02:36 I was like, damn, I don't even feel like,
02:38 I feel like I've been here my whole college career.
02:40 So it was just another big 12 game.
02:43 I wasn't thinking, now I gotta get Tech back.
02:45 No, it was just come in and play, and that's it.
02:50 >> You guys only had 13 turnovers against Baylor, nine tonight.
02:53 The ball control has been much better the last few games.
02:55 What's led to that?
02:56 >> I don't know.
02:59 >> Yeah, we had zero turnovers, that's all I'm gonna say.
03:01 >> [LAUGH] >> Has that been a point of emphasis
03:06 in practice?
03:07 >> Absolutely, absolutely.
03:09 I mean, the defense is tough in the big 12, and in practice, like we said,
03:13 it's hard, but when we got here, the coach had told us he wanted to turn us
03:18 in, better assist to turn over ratio guys, and that's what we've done, and
03:22 just trying to keep going.
03:24 >> Any other questions?
03:28 >> I guess, there's been multiple times in recent games where you guys have been
03:31 down by double digits, but there's been key plays that have made you guys
03:35 turn around to either tie the game or take the lead.
03:38 What do you guys think that says about the resilience of this team to come back
03:41 from such a big deficit?
03:45 >> This raw battle test, all the way to the names, those type of games.
03:50 So it's just, we've been through it before, so we kinda just get down,
03:54 you really can't soak on it or whatever, cuz there's no leads, it's just gonna grow.
03:58 So we just all come together, that's what we do.
04:01 >> Sure, you've heard a lot about your work ethic from your teammates,
04:04 from your coach, so I'm just curious, where does that come from?
04:06 Have you always been like that?
04:08 >> Juco, probably.
04:09 >> [LAUGH] >> I learned Juco's on the range,
04:12 the range, it ain't nothing.
04:15 So I was just in the gym all day and just being isolated,
04:19 not having, there's no students.
04:20 It's just y'all, women's basketball team, or radio team, that's really it.
04:25 So I was just there, so I would just go to the gym.
04:28 And since then, I've just been like that.
04:30 And Corpus, just had two GAs that were phenomenal, and
04:34 they would just, they seen it in me.
04:37 They seen I could play at this level, so every morning, I was just teaching them,
04:40 hey, yo, let's get up shots at this time, let's go work out, let's work on this.
04:43 So just those two places kinda motivated me to come here and be ready.
04:47 >> Do you guys talk a little bit about the home crowd tonight, and
04:51 how much that fueled you guys in a close game like tonight?
04:53 >> I felt like it was a great crowd.
04:56 I appreciate the Frog Army and just all of our fans coming out.
05:00 We need that for these type of games, because tech,
05:03 they're always gonna bring a lot of fans when they come to Fort Worth.
05:06 So I feel like we had more fans this time,
05:08 cuz before we played them and they had more red in the crowd.
05:11 So I appreciate all the fans.
05:13 >> You guys host another in-state Big 12 team next Saturday with Texas coming to
05:20 town, but you're also retiring Kenrich Williams' number during that game.
05:23 Can you, Mike, talk a little bit about what Kenrich means to this program and
05:27 maybe the legacy he's had?
05:29 >> Yeah, well, Coach Dixon likes to talk about Kenrich all the time.
05:33 I've heard all good things about him, how hard of a work he was, how he came in,
05:37 not really a shooter, and he became a great shooter.
05:39 And that's what he does in the NBA.
05:41 He was a great defender.
05:42 And so, yeah, I think it's a big deal that we get to retire him.
05:46 Yeah, so hopefully we get our fans out there for the Texas game as well.
05:49 >> Okay, thanks guys.
05:53 >> Thank you.
