00:05A man has sadly died after his aircraft crashed in a West Sussex village, police have confirmed.
00:11A glider crashed in Bar Lovington, four miles south of Petworth on Wednesday evening.
00:17Sussex police issued a statement on Thursday morning which read,
00:20emergency services were called to report of a glider crashing into a field near Crouch Lane,
00:25Bar Lovington at around 6.05pm. Sadly, a 73-year-old man, who was both the pilot and
00:32sole occupant of the glider, died at the scene. His next of kin and the coroner have been notified.
00:38Officers remained at the scene and police said an increased presence can be expected in the area.
00:43Meanwhile, a popular pub in an East Sussex village has announced it will be put up for sale.
00:48Karen Clapton, the owner of the Wheatsheaf Inn in Willingdon, announced that she will be leaving
00:52the pub and the establishment will be listed on the market. The pub has proved popular with
00:57customers, garnering 4.6 stars out of 5 from 439 Google reviews. Karen said it was a very
01:04tough and emotional decision to make because it's such a fantastic pub with brilliant staff and
01:08even better customers. She said the Wheatsheaf has gone from strength to strength and deserves
01:12to continue with fresh energy and vision and she plans to pass the baton over with positivity
01:18and happy memories. Finally, a new seaside-themed three-level soft play has opened in Worthing,
01:24featuring a transparent climbing wall, infinity mirror, hanging snakes and an interactive gaming
01:29screen. The Lighthouse, Offington Park Methodist Church was officially opened on Sunday and is now
01:35available for bookings from tomorrow, both 90-minute sessions and birthday parties.
01:40Minister the Reverend Dawn Kahn said she chose three levels to keep enough interest
01:44for the older children and made sure it was big enough to take a whole school class.
01:49Dawn's daughter Mel made her special lighthouse top for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Sunday
01:53and after the official opening the children were able to try out the play area for the first time.
