01:13 Watch how Xixi times him with his jab.
01:16 He's gonna time that rhythm back and forth, back and forth.

01:27 and a right hand over the top.
01:29 - Sauceda tries to switch it up with a leaping left hook,
01:31 and there's that one-two from Charlie Xixi.

01:36 - See, it's good to move your head,
01:38 but when you have a constant rhythm like that,
01:40 you become too predictable,
01:41 sitting outside mid-range to outside, moving your head.
01:44 And every time Xixi steps in and steps on that front foot,
01:48 he's gonna be able to land on that jab from mid-range.
01:55 - Nice. - Nice right.
01:56 - Nice straight right. - Yep.
01:57 - That was a lead right from Sauceda.
01:59 Xixi was a little indecisive as to where he was gonna go,
02:02 and he was able-- and Sauceda was able to disguise it
02:05 with that movement.
02:06 So with that movement, yeah, it's pretty good.
02:08 You see Canelo moving his head like that every now and then.
02:11 However, you're able to disguise and hide your punches as well.
02:16 You can throw off that movement.
02:17 - That Xixi's got a 3 1/2-inch reach advantage,
02:20 and he's really good behind that jab.

02:51 - See, Sauceda's attacking when Xixi thinks
02:54 he's at a safe distance,
02:55 and he gets a little chillaxed on his defense.
03:00 Xixi has to stay focused and stay turned on all the time,
03:05 every moment, every second inside the ring,
03:07 or he's gonna get surprised with shots like that from Sauceda.
03:09 - Sauceda's won 75% of his victories by knockout,
03:13 so he's got power, and you see there the movement from Xixi.
03:19 - Great eyes, great defense right there from Xixi.
03:21 - Transitioning from offense to defense in that case.
03:25 - But I like the fact he didn't pull straight back
03:26 to get away from those shots he rolled underneath.
03:31 It's a new facet, a new add to his game.

04:37 and Centeno needs to-- what he needs to do is,
04:40 he needs to get inside.
04:41 He's staying too far outside, moving his head.
04:44 So you make that slip or make that definitive move,
04:46 one definitive move,
04:47 and then try to close the distance on.
04:50 - On Shihi.
04:52 And Charlie Shihi told us,
04:54 "Look, I feel like I'm getting a lot more comfortable
04:56 in close range.
04:57 I'm not jumping out, trying to avoid all contact.
04:59 I can catch and pop and not worry about
05:01 not getting touched at all."
05:02 And Salcedo says, "Let me touch you
05:03 with that overhand right."
05:04 - Look, I respect the uppercut.
05:07 It's a punch that's underused in boxing.
05:09 However, when you do it at the wrong time
05:11 and the wrong distance, that's what happens.
05:14 Shihi right there got away a little bit unscathed.
05:17 He got touched, but it wasn't a hard shot.
05:20 That landed on him, but, man, he was in a bad position
05:22 to eat a right hand from Salcedo.

05:30 Salcedo now throwing his own face of his own.
05:32 So is Shihi.
05:33 You know, nice change up in pace and tempo
05:35 with the combinations as well by Shihi.
05:38 Not just shooting the jab out there.
05:41 Throwing combinations, which is good.
05:43 - Yeah, against a guy like Salcedo,
05:44 who is a dangerous puncher, you can't be predictable
05:47 because if-- you were talking about Shihi,
05:49 timing Salcedo. - Yeah.
05:51 - Salcedo times Shihi, that could be disastrous, too.
05:53 - Absolutely.
05:54 Any mistake is dangerous,
05:56 especially in the ring against a puncher.
05:57 You have to limit your mistakes.
05:59 You got to be technically and tactically sound.
06:01 Right now, that's what you're seeing.
06:03 Good boxing right here from Shihi.
06:05 Using his legs to disengage, change directions.
06:09 Stepped in.
06:10 The smart thing to do, step in, body up, tie up,
06:13 and then get back outside.
06:16 - Tim, a lot of times, young prospects on the upswing,
06:19 like Charlie Shihi, will tell you,
06:20 "I need a guy to pose some danger in front of me
06:23 for me to focus," and you see the focus in Shihi
06:26 during these first, you know, five minutes of this fight.
06:29 He knows he can't make mistakes.
06:31 - Yeah, and he felt the power, and he is focused,
06:34 but at the same time, Shihi is naturally a counterpuncher.
06:38 So you saw those little throwaway jabs.
06:40 He's trying to get something.
06:42 He's trying to-- he's baiting.
06:44 He's using it to be able to get Salcedo to throw something
06:48 so he can count.
06:50 - There's that one-two.
06:51 Salcedo throws simultaneously with Shihi.
06:55 - Oh! - Right.
06:56 - Beautifully timed from Charlie Shihi.
06:59 - It grazed him.
07:00 It wasn't-- it wasn't right on that chin.
07:02 It kind of grazed him a little bit,
07:03 but, man, I'm telling you, it was short, tight, compact,
07:06 and the most beautiful thing about what you saw
07:08 with that right hand is that Shihi got his head
07:11 off the line when he threw that right hand,
07:13 which is another veteran thing to do.
07:15 - And that uppercut was thrown from just the right range,
07:18 as he was able to contact on Salcedo,
07:20 who nonetheless continues to press forward,
07:23 trying to close his gap on Shihi.
07:26 - Ten seconds.
07:27 - One of the reasons T.O. Fimolopouos decided
07:28 to return to boxing was his hope to pave forward
07:31 to the younger generation and show them everything
07:32 he's learned to get him to where he is today.
07:36 - I came back to educate these fighters
07:38 because a lot of them want what I have,
07:41 but only if they knew I'm trying to help them have it,
07:44 and I just want to help these next kids.
07:47 T.O., he gives me a lot of game on just what it takes
07:50 to get to where he's at.
07:51 When you get stuck in the ropes,
07:53 two things you want to do if you feel trapped.
07:55 See that? You close that gap.
07:57 You got to use your shoulder like a football player.
08:00 And if you don't feel like you got that, use your forearm.

08:40 the Terrence Crawford, the Shakur Stephensons,

08:48 You know, they got to start selfish.
08:49 And, you know, boxing is egotistic,
08:51 so, you know, to have these young men
08:54 looking to help the next generation,
08:56 you know, it shows you a lot about his character.
08:59 - Round three of a scheduled eight-round fight.
09:01 Charlie Sheehy in the white trunks
09:03 and that stiff jab against Abdel Sauceda
09:06 from Monterrey, Mexico.
09:08 - That makes the fight easy
09:10 when you have a really good lead hand.
09:13 Longest weapon to the target
09:15 when you use it at the right distance,
09:16 the right time.
09:17 It's a great tool to just control,
09:20 break the rhythm of the opponent,
09:23 and set up your offense.
09:25 - Sauceda's trying to get--
09:26 starting to get a little bit desperate here, Tim.
09:28 You see him opening up a lot wider
09:30 than he was earlier on in the fight,
09:32 trying to find Sheehy.
09:34 - Yeah, I mean, he's trying to change the tide.
09:36 I mean, the tide has not been in his favor,
09:38 and, you know, he's trying to press forward.
09:40 You know, all he knows is one way,
09:42 which is to come forward.
09:44 Um...
09:46 But he's gonna have to throw more punches.
09:48 Nice little roll right there from Sauceda.
09:51 - Nice one-two from Charlie Sheehy.
09:53 Now the two-one leading with the right,
09:55 and then continuing the combination
09:57 with a straight jab,
09:58 which has been his best punch tonight.

10:06 - If I'm in Sauceda's corner and I'm telling him,
10:08 "I want you to punch where you think he's gonna go,"
10:11 you know, "I want you to force,"

10:16 and then go the opposite way.
10:17 Make him move that direction and meet him with a punch.
10:21 And the punch of choice is the right hand.

11:13 - And another thing, if I was in Sauceda's corner,
11:15 I would let him know is to let your combinations go, son.
11:18 And start at the body and then go to the head.
11:20 But you're throwing a single shot.
11:22 Every single shot, you're getting countered with.
11:24 So if you throw him in combinations,
11:26 now he has to choose which shot he's gonna counter.
11:28 And you might be able to land on him.
11:30 - Sheehy is longer, and he is quicker,
11:33 and he's got great timing showing it so far
11:36 throughout his first three rounds.
11:37 And, Tim, there's one punch
11:38 that has been his money punch all fight long.
11:41 - An educated jab.
11:42 I'm telling you, you can win a fight with a jab.
11:45 You know, they say Willie Pepp did that
11:47 with footwork and a jab.
11:48 However, look at the jab of Sheehy.
11:51 I mean, he's throwing it from different angles.
11:52 That was an inside slip jab right there.
11:54 Beautiful extension with that jab on the outside.
11:58 I mean, you want to hit a guy so much with jabs
12:00 that he be begging for your right hand or left hook.
12:03 Great, great start right here to this fight for Sheehy.

13:11 Saucedo doesn't have an answer how to block a jab.
13:14 He has no clue.
13:16 - You said that he'd be begging for left hook and uppercuts.
13:19 I think he'd rather get hit by the jab.

13:23 - I mean, Sheehy has a stiff jab,
13:25 but those uppercuts are vicious.
13:27 - Yeah, they're vicious and they're sneaky punches.
13:29 And again, it's a very underused punch in boxing,
13:31 the uppercut.
13:33 You know, I would say Eddie Futch
13:36 is one of the ones that loves the right uppercut.
13:39 - Ooh, that shot hurt him.
13:41 - Right from Saucedo. - There it is.
13:43 That shot hurt him.
13:44 Let's see how he reacts,
13:45 what he's gonna do right now.
13:46 - He's got eight knockouts and 12 wins.
13:48 We talked about the danger that Saucedo poses
13:51 to the undefeated Sheehy,
13:52 and here you're seeing it in the fourth round.
13:55 So you make one mistake with a puncher
13:57 and all it takes is one to turn the tide of the fight.
14:04 - Excellent opportunity for Saucedo to turn the tide.
14:07 That's what he was trying to do since the last round.

14:16 Pressing forward, got a little bit more aggressive,
14:18 some adrenaline he was able to get off of that punch landed.
14:22 But then that jab from Sheehy,
14:24 Sheehy seems to have it together.
14:26 I like what I'm seeing.
14:28 - The puncher feeds off of those shots that land,
14:31 but there's one way to stop that adrenaline from pumping,
14:35 and that's that jab that has been so efficient for Sheehy.
14:38 Sets up that overhand right,
14:39 the angle to move away, Tim, set that up.
14:41 - That's exactly what I'm talking about.
14:43 You know, great setup right there.
14:45 Not only is he setting him up with the jab, Sheehy,
14:48 he's setting him up with his movement as well.
14:50 He went one way, turned back, adjusted, pivoted, and fired.
15:01 - Look at those angles.
15:02 I mean, he's just using his legs so well here
15:05 in the fourth round. - Good right hand.
15:06 - Once Sauceda takes a beat, boom,
15:09 Sheehy can add the overhand right.
15:11 - Yeah, punchers typically need their feet to be planted,
15:15 planted still, to be able to deliver their shots.
15:19 That's their technique.
15:20 That's the way they've been taught.
15:21 That's the reason why they hit so dang hard,
15:23 is because of their technique
15:25 and having their feet planted to the ground.
15:27 I'm telling you, when you move on a puncher like this,
15:30 it's not easy.
15:32 It makes it hard for them to be able to land a big shot on you.
15:35 - And now it's Sheehy landing the big punches here
15:38 as we come to the halfway point of this fight.
15:41 Speaking of technique and power,
15:44 there is Keyshawn Davis,
15:46 accompanied by his mother, Wanda, his manager.
15:49 He's facing a world champion for the first time,

17:11 and we'll see tonight if Keyshawn Davis is on that level.
17:14 - But he needs to look good, too.

17:20 but at the same time, it's entertainment.

18:05 then swinging back right again.

18:12 However, the speed difference as well.
18:14 You gotta think about that, too.
18:16 And when you have a speed difference
18:18 and as the fight continues and goes on,
18:21 your opponent tends to slow down even more
18:23 and you got the quicker hands,
18:25 so now the mistakes that they're making,
18:28 you having the faster hands,
18:29 you have an advantage over your opponent
18:31 when you have faster hands.
18:32 - Sauceda able to land to the body of Charlie Sheehy
18:35 and when you've got a mover,
18:36 that's the place where you have to focus your power on
18:40 and it's just too few and far between
18:43 for Sauceda, who's just being overmatched
18:45 by the speed and boxing skill of Sheehy here through five.
18:50 - Sauceda got a punch with Sheehy.
18:53 The move in his head side to side, I get it.
18:55 That's the way he enters,
18:56 but again, Sheehy just timing that movement.
18:59 He knows exactly when he's gonna attack

21:09 and then springing off that back foot.

21:16 with all your momentum into your punches.
21:18 - You see Sheehy stepping into his shots here
21:21 in the sixth round.
21:23 Sauceda trying to land, and he does with a long jab,
21:26 but he needs to do something different here.
21:30 He's gonna turn the tide of what has been a one-sided fight

31:35 Charlie Sheehy, a comprehensive performance,
31:37 and Abdel Salseda got a lot to be proud of
31:40 because I think he brought out the best in Sheehy tonight.
31:43 - I think he did, and we saw a variety of different things
31:46 and different skill sets in there from Sheehy
31:49 that we hadn't seen in the past.
31:51 I think that Salseda was the perfect amount of,
31:54 I would say, resistance for him at this stage in his career.
31:58 It showed that he can actually take a punch
32:00 from a big puncher.
32:01 It showed that he actually, you know,
32:03 knows how to recover when things are not going
32:05 so well in there as well.
32:08 He landed his jab, you know, which was great.
32:11 But let's check out the highlights, man.
32:14 All-starred with Sheehy's jab.
32:16 You know, the best-- the best punch in boxing,
32:18 the most important punch in boxing,
32:20 you know, you can do a lot of damage in controlling range
32:23 and not allowing your opponent to get inside,
32:25 and that's what he used.
32:26 And beautiful uppercuts.
32:27 Nice slip inside uppercut.
32:28 That's a change-up.
32:29 See, usually when you get away from a jab,
32:31 you want to slip outside to your right
32:33 to be able to counter, but occasionally,
32:35 when you want to change it up, you can slip on the inside,
32:38 surprise your opponent, and lift him up with an uppercut,
32:40 especially if he's leaning over that front foot.
32:42 But Sheehy put on a solid performance tonight.
32:45 Great.
32:46 I'm going to give him a B-plus tonight.
32:48 I'm not going to give him an A because if he got that,
32:51 if you would've hurt him and knocked him out,
32:53 he'd get that A, but he's going to get a B-plus tonight.
