00:00 So as the final few stragglers from the away end leave over my shoulder there, they'll
00:07 be celebrating Newcastle United's 3-2 win against London Forest. It was, what can you
00:13 say, it was a nervy affair again. Newcastle very slack defensively, not brilliant, but
00:19 you know what, they got the three goals, they got the win, and on a day like this it's all
00:23 that matters. It was one of them where they just had to win, they really did just have
00:26 to get themselves over the line and get that three points. I wouldn't say put the memories
00:31 of Luton to bed, but that's seven points in three games, it's a good return, two wins
00:35 on the road in that time. It was a good win for Newcastle, inspired of course by their
00:41 Brazilian maestro Bruno Guimaraes. In the first half Newcastle twice took the lead,
00:46 were pegged back twice, exactly what happened last week against Luton. First goal was Bruno,
00:52 he was brilliant to be fair, rightfully get two goals, but he was fantastic, it was a
00:56 fantastic work corner. And we're on to Trippier, Trippier's long corner to Bruno who then
01:03 volleyed home past Mat Sells for the opener. It was a fantastic, well-worked goal, reminiscent
01:08 of their goal to score against Brentford, Bruno scored that again last year. It was
01:11 a brilliant corner, you think right this is Newcastle, whether they need to really press
01:15 on the advantage and try and avoid doing what they've done in the last week and throw that
01:20 lead away. They didn't, it was Olanga this time and now, there was questions before the
01:24 game about Dan Byrne, was he the right selection, had Liverpool meant no left back, and maybe
01:28 when you see the first goal you see Gibbs right, threading a brilliant ball through to Olanga
01:33 to be fair, and Olanga gets on the end of it. Olanga gets between Botman and Byrne,
01:37 Martin de Bravica runs out and the former Man United man just pokes the ball home for
01:41 1-1. And then you think right, Newcastle have to regroup. And then to be fair to them, they
01:45 did, they got another free kick, Trippie has a long, I wouldn't say hopeful ball, but a
01:51 long ball, finds Botman, who heads it on and there's Fabian Scheer on the hard volley,
01:56 smash home his third goal in three games, yeah, after he got his two against Brace,
02:00 so that was brilliant. Newcastle go 2-1 ahead, and then you think right, this is the time
02:03 they really need to tighten up, don't come through before half-time, and what do you
02:06 know, right on the stroke of half-time, Callum Hudson-Odoi cuts in on the right, fires a
02:11 shot, it takes a wicked deflection of Lewis Miley, pass to Bradcland, nothing Miley or
02:14 de Bravica could do, and then Forrest all of a sudden, probably deservedly, going to
02:18 the break level, and Newcastle once again payback twice, and you do think where they're
02:23 going to get this extra momentum from, this extra belief, it's been a difficult year,
02:27 they're going to have to get this belief that they can win this game. They come out the
02:31 second half, a couple of scares, but they tighten up, they really do tighten up the second
02:34 half, God give them praise for that. Bruno gets his second in the game, that was a brilliant
02:37 effort, brilliant goal, all fours to him, initially it seemed like it just fell, but
02:42 I think it was a great pass, he takes it, one touch, settles himself, curls it, pass
02:46 settles, gives Sells after it more chance, to be fair, and then Newcastle, yeah, Newcastle
02:50 3-2 ahead and they managed to keep a hold of that lead. Liveramento, like this against
02:54 Villa, Liveramento comes on from Miley, go to back five, not really nullified, Forrest
02:58 don't want to get it wrong, he still had a couple of chances, it was less, I think,
03:01 you know, they dealt with it less well than Villa, but you know what, it was a brilliant
03:05 second half performance, they needed that win, they really did, it was one they absolutely
03:09 needed and they'll go against Bournemouth next week full of confidence in it. It's
03:14 sometimes not about the performance, there will be worries on that performance, plenty
03:17 of worries defensively certainly, some maybe about squad selection, substitutions, there
03:22 will be plenty of fairly out-of-concert, but right now they just need that win and they've
03:25 got the three points set up for seventh as it stands before Sunday's game, so that's
03:28 brilliant, return conceding the first half of the season, the injuries they've had and
03:33 all that, so yeah, it was not the best performance but they got the win and that's all they need
03:37 from the day of the city ground and hopefully it's going to be the start of a good end of
03:41 the season.
