00:00 >> From 44 Street in Campbell, this is the Arizona daily mix.
00:05 And it all starts right now.
00:08 >> And welcome to their daily mix. I am a man child Brett
00:20 Perry.
00:27 >> And I'm like the Romano grown adult woman.
00:30 >> Just a minute. Discussing but tomorrow.
00:34 >> It's all in day and we're celebrating the day early by
00:38 giving some fun ways to incorporate all men into your
00:42 diet and I got to.
00:43 >> I'm a guy.
00:44 >> Okay so do you like the all men that are like flavored or
00:51 do you like the like regular plane.
00:54 >> So I love the raw plane on the side someone just turned me
00:57 on to like the barbecue flavor had some there was a ranch one
01:02 that was a little OK but not much but I like the smokehouse
01:05 when the ones that's that's spicy right. Those are really
01:08 that's good. It's good. So also if you're trying to refresh
01:11 your space and you're in luck because a painting company is
01:14 here to help you do just that nothing changes your space like
01:19 a paint job, I'm telling you like it just can revitalize the
01:23 whole thing yes, I'm looking forward to talking to those on
01:25 the side because it's almost time to pay my house. All right
01:29 plus we're giving away some risks on tickets. So don't want
01:33 to miss out on a chance to win going to the hottest spot in
01:37 town. It is a red hot sauce bowl. Yeah, you know what I
01:41 should go because it's so fun. I've been for a couple years,
01:44 but it will say that if you're going to go it is a whole day
01:49 event it is a track get out there. Well, you know if you
01:52 live where I live which is more like way out in a cell,
01:56 but I will tell you it's gotten better so thank goodness,
01:58 you know my goodness when I first moved here we had to go
02:00 out and cover it. It was like going to like a whole nother
02:03 world like really got on dirt road because after the 60 it's
02:06 it's it's still how it is no you know the highways really
02:10 nice to get out there. Also there's a neighborhood now
02:13 built out around it. That's what really for a couple years.
02:17 Yeah, I went like maybe maybe 3 years ago 4 years ago, I don't
02:21 know so I'm it's become it's it's crazy. So we're talking
02:27 about again how men are children before we came on
02:31 because guys do things but last night I believe your man
02:37 stepped up to a great Valentine's he did he did so I
02:40 had to Valentine's yesterday which was Josh and Arlo and
02:45 Josh did a great job. He brought me some beautiful
02:48 flowers or just roses and 2 bottles of wine. 2 bottles of
02:54 wine. So we had a lovely dinner last night I cooked surf and
02:58 turf for us. It was great. Yeah, we enjoyed some of the
03:02 delicious wine and then I was serenaded by my 2 guys.
03:07 >> You don't know Josh is a Josh is a very talented musician
03:11 piano player conductor and we're slowly teaching Arlo,
03:16 you know our dream is that someday he'll play the piano
03:19 like like it's all the is it was very very sweet. Our first
03:23 our first Valentine's Day with with the baby and yeah, it was
03:28 interrupted a couple times.
03:31 >> And I'm very proud of you because there's something
03:33 that's not there because we talked about it and that was
03:36 dessert you guys. We did not have dessert last night now
03:40 our dessert was the line and that you know was was plenty
03:44 for me. That's what did you do last me nothing I okay, I'm
03:50 going to go ahead and make a confession. Here and that is we
03:55 had the you know the big face here. Yeah.
03:58 What you do I took the sponge cake. The cheesecake sponge
04:06 cake home, what you do what happened.
04:11 I didn't have just one little slice.
04:14 And to slices done.
04:22 >> Yeah from last night and I went to a food for one late on
04:26 the couch with sleep all right until Ralphie was hit me about
04:31 2 o'clock in the morning going. I got to go outside mess.
04:34 >> That's why he woke you up because you're asleep on the
04:36 couch. It was like dad what's going on. My spot, let's go so
04:42 yeah, I there you go you're in his spot right and so the
04:45 biscuit was this like I don't know what's going on he stayed
04:47 asleep, but no that was my thing last night was just
04:50 really eating those 2 pieces and I was sleeping in you know
04:53 then of course somehow my nutrition has gotten my head
04:56 going Brad what were you thinking and so.
04:59 >> Sometimes you got to treat yourself though don't you get
05:01 one sheet a week.
05:03 >> Yes, but I've been up to.
05:06 >> Sunday was supposed to be that she did because it was
05:12 Super Bowl right, it was big game Sunday. Well.
05:16 >> So okay.
05:17 >> Make it until next Sunday. I believe in you you can do it.
05:23 I can do it I I'm going I'm going to do it so we will see
05:26 what that you can do it. I was there almost Michael, I'm a
05:29 little e 2 pounds away you are just really impressive like I
05:33 honestly we're very proud of you look great to feel great.
05:37 Yes, I'm getting very very healthy so what happens and you
05:40 know what the almonds actually good for us all about it there
05:45 ago so all right coming up it is almost tax. I don't want to
05:51 talk about it. We have tips to prepare you for the filing so
05:56 come on back.
05:57 >> The following portion of the Arizona daily mix is sponsored
06:13 on behalf of into a credit karma by Gorbets communications.
06:17 >> It's almost tax season and last week I talked to Courtney
06:23 love the head of tax it into it credit karma who's providing
06:28 useful tips on how to prepare for tax season and how to make
06:31 the most out of your tax refund.
06:33 >> I Courtney thanks for being here so it is that time of year
06:39 tax season is upon us unfortunately what can
06:43 consumers do to prepare.
06:45 If you hear the words tax season and get nervous you are
06:49 far from alone nearly one in 3 Americans have told us that they
06:53 are dreading filing their taxes this tax season. But if that's
06:57 you I'm here to tell you it does not need to be scary.
07:00 If you're feeling nervous, the best things you can do or to
07:03 get organized and make a plan you're probably already getting
07:07 tax related documents sent to you either through the mail or
07:11 via e-mail a shoe box on your desk and put anything coming in
07:14 the mail right there or create a folder on your computer for
07:17 anything electronic that way when it is time to file you
07:21 already have everything ready to go. And as hard as it can be
07:25 do try not to procrastinate I know, I'm the queen of waiting
07:28 until the last minute when it comes to things like this.
07:31 But the earlier you file your taxes the earlier you're going
07:35 to get that tax refund if you're owed one this year.
07:37 Courtney that's such a good point and I know for me that
07:40 when I get things done I just kind of feel that weight lifted
07:43 off of me so those tips are so great and there are so many
07:47 options now to doing your taxes, I mean how to consumers decide
07:50 what's best for them.
07:51 There are a ton of options out there it can be really
07:55 overwhelming, especially if you're a first-time tax filer
07:58 it's really helpful to spend a few minutes online and do some
08:01 research to figure out what option might be best for you,
08:04 but the good news is that online tools have gotten really
08:07 smart. They're fast easy intuitive and they really hold
08:12 your hand all the way through the process. But if you're
08:14 still feeling nervous and you just really want that human
08:17 touch and a little bit of reassurance to make sure that
08:20 everything is looking good. A lot of online options like
08:23 turbo tax also offer expert assistance.
08:26 >> That's so nice so you can still go with the online
08:29 option, but you have someone there like you said the human
08:32 touch to really personalize it so I love that option and you
08:36 already mentioned refunds everyone is thinking about
08:39 refunds and excited for them what you consumers really be
08:43 looking forward to or thinking about in terms of that.
08:45 We know that 3 in 4 Americans are expecting to receive a
08:49 refund this year and one for actually expecting to receive a
08:52 larger one than last year. But if you're hearing this and
08:55 thinking I don't know if I'm going to get a refund or how
08:57 big it's going to be there are free online tools like on
09:00 credit karma that can help you estimate either the size of the
09:03 refund you're going to get or the tax bill that you might in
09:07 just a couple of minutes and it's really helpful to do that
09:10 in advance now I can help you avoid some surprises when it
09:14 comes to actually filing your taxes, but you can start making
09:17 a plan either for how you're going to use that tax refund or
09:20 how you're going to pay that tax bill. You know I have owed
09:24 in the past so I know that feeling when you're surprised
09:26 and it's like that sinking feeling in your stomach so
09:28 that's such a great tool. But what if people can't quite
09:31 make that April 15th deadline, I mean talk a little bit about
09:35 extensions.
09:36 Yeah, you know tax has been in mid April for a long time,
09:40 but it has this funny habit every year of sneaking up a lot
09:43 of us but the most important thing is that whether you're
09:45 going to file your taxes or file an extension you want to
09:48 make sure to take action by April 15th. And if your reason
09:52 for wanting to file an extension is because you owe a
09:55 tax bill and you're feeling nervous about paying it which
09:57 is really understandable. The good news is that the IRS
10:01 offers payment plans that can really break down that bill
10:03 into more manageable chunks. But whatever is you want to do
10:06 whether file immediately or file an extension make sure to
10:10 take action by April 15th.
10:11 >> Those are some great tips. Thank you so much for the
10:14 somewhere can viewers go for more information.
10:16 >> Viewers can go to credit karma dot com or turbo tax dot
10:19 com to get the answers to all of their tax questions and get
10:22 ready to file for the season.
10:24 >> All right, well I feel prepared for that April 15th,
10:26 thank you so much.
10:28 Thank you.
10:29 >> Okay stick around because after the break easy in
10:35 companies here to talk about how they help you refresh your
10:38 space with Arizona daily mix returns on the station that's
10:41 all good. The CW 7.

10:54 The following portion of the Arizona daily mix is sponsored
11:02 by Arizona painting company.
11:06 The weather has been just perfect outside lately and
11:08 that's why now is a great time to think about painting your
11:12 home, Arizona painting company founder Doug Harris is here to
11:15 talk about how you can nominate someone in your community for a
11:18 free paint job welcome Doug yeah, thanks a lot for having
11:21 me we love when you're here because you guys do so much
11:24 incredible stuff in the community so before we get into
11:26 all that just tell us a little bit about you and what you guys
11:28 do. Yes, we're interior exterior residential and
11:32 commercial painting company so we do.
11:34 >> Homes businesses buildings will do a poxie floor coatings
11:38 we do window washing. So basically anything to do with
11:41 painting a home or building we can do it you guys are there
11:44 all right that's great and what promo are you doing right now
11:47 because we're coming into fed or were in February coming
11:49 into spring, but you guys have some great problems. Yeah,
11:52 I mean we're hopefully through the rain that we've had in
11:55 January got great weather. This month in February, a full
11:58 exterior paint job we're doing 15% off plus the year for
12:02 next year painted we're getting 50% off cool decking so
12:05 percent yeah, basically half off so you get your whole house
12:08 pain you're going to get a great deal on getting the cool
12:10 deck that can painted to yeah, wow that's an incredible deal
12:14 and tell everybody at home in case they don't know why the
12:18 good weather right now is such a great time to paint your
12:21 home, yes, 70 degrees 7075 degrees is great time you can
12:25 paint the whole day, you know it's starting to warm up even
12:28 in the morning so you can get longer days in and the paint
12:31 dries really well and quickly. Okay, so just just because I'm
12:34 curious when it's really hot outside like our Arizona
12:38 summers that we get out here is that something that you guys
12:40 can't do is it just something that in terms of your guys
12:43 being out in the heat is it something you just don't like
12:45 to do no we still can even in the summers, we have to start
12:48 really early and you don't get as long of days because
12:50 naturally and it gets just too hot for the surface
12:53 temperature on the the stucco or whatever is getting painted
12:55 it it gets harder to be able to do it and make sure the
12:59 temperature of the sun. Really hot yeah got it got it so now
13:04 definitely is a great time to have this incredible promotion
13:07 going on but tell me a little bit about what you guys do for
13:10 the community because you get back so much so tell me a
13:13 little bit about your your promotion that you have going
13:16 on where you can nominate somebody.
13:18 >> Yeah, one of my favorite things that we do as a company
13:21 is called painted forward so we asked for nominations in the
13:24 community that if you know somebody that needs to have
13:27 their house painted but maybe can't afford it because of you
13:30 know bills because of you know something to do with health.
13:33 We've we've painted people before where they lost a child
13:36 like this and sad stories, but we're you know we asked for
13:40 nominations and then we choose internally in our company we
13:43 choose somebody we go out there Sherwin-Williams donates the
13:46 paint our employees and team members donate their Saturday
13:50 we paint the house for free and manage this makes such a big
13:53 difference to somebody something as simple as getting
13:55 their house painted and we love doing it so we're asking for
13:59 nominations really need people in the community to nominate
14:01 somebody that needs to have their house painted.
14:03 >> That's really really cool and you were saying it you know
14:07 in in the face of other things that maybe are a really big
14:09 deal it maybe doesn't seem like a huge deal but having that
14:12 refresh on your home really makes you feel proud and really
14:16 makes you feel like you you know love your space and you
14:18 can be really proud of the space that you're in so that's
14:20 an incredible thing that you guys do can I ask how you pick
14:23 the person.
14:24 >> We just we really do a vote we can try to narrow down to 3
14:27 or 4 that we feel like man this would be an awesome person to
14:29 be able to paint for we get we asked for the nominations we
14:32 get the story kind of a why they need to have their house
14:35 painted and then we just vote we let our team decide who they
14:39 want to paint for and we choose and we we let them know and man
14:43 they're just so excited and just it just really helps lift
14:46 their spirits and and give them something that they can feel
14:49 really good about definitely now that's really great you
14:51 guys do so much cool stuff for the community so tell everybody
14:54 how they can nominate someone and also how they can get in
14:57 touch with you guys.
14:58 >> Yeah, if you go to Arizona painting company dot com we've
15:00 got a pain for section right there is really easy just click
15:03 that link and you can nominate somebody right there.
15:05 >> How long are you doing that how long do you have so we
15:08 you've got until the beginning of March. So we're going to be
15:11 doing a few of these throughout the Valley. We're going to be
15:13 doing 2 homeowners and a business between the end of
15:18 March through beginning of May case you can also nominate a
15:21 business. Yeah, we're looking for a a nonprofit charity
15:25 business. Somebody that again needs to have their building
15:28 painted or there could be inside outside whatever it is
15:31 but maybe can't afford it or doesn't have the resources
15:33 right now all right, I love that and you guys have an
15:35 amazing a promotion going on like you said so yeah, you can
15:38 go to their website and check it all out all right Doug,
15:39 thank you for being here, I love hearing about what you
15:41 guys are doing here in the Valley. Very cool after the
15:43 break see how you can win tickets to the Renaissance
15:46 festival so stick around.

16:16 we're checking out one of the restaurants here in the
16:18 Valley. Yeah, and if you're looking to head up north this
16:21 weekend. We've got some great events for you to check out

16:30 injury law we travel the Internet the social media
16:32 websites, our own backyard to give you something to talk

16:37 This is really important because we were having a
16:40 conversation the other day about marriage. Yeah, when you
16:44 said fun that.
16:46 >> When you get married. It's almost like a unwritten
16:50 contract that you have stuff to do and Josh has stuff to do
16:54 yes, yes, and one is kind of like the homeowner stuff like
16:58 like that that the fix it stuff right those are things that
17:02 that
17:03 I we never agreed on this, but it's just like that is his
17:07 that says I I'm not doing the same okay, so I found 20
17:10 things every homeowner should know how to do okay, all right
17:14 so let me just say you do our first fixing a running toilet.
17:18 Yeah, that's Josh okay, all right, I'm called the dream
17:22 that's also Josh, no okay, set the thermostat probably.
17:26 What do you mean by that like go to the thermostat and push
17:29 74. I guess I said it so it's like heat or air at certain
17:34 times. Well, I think that's something anybody can do that
17:37 right that's good. I got that. Yeah.
17:41 No kids never touch. As an adult I never was allowed to
17:46 touch that there was that my mother's. Yeah, exactly.
17:49 I will talk cracks and gaps.
17:52 What is it talk talk or call call. I know that's Josh okay.
17:58 Turn off a smoke detector so that's going off to that.
18:02 I definitely don't know how to do that that's easy broom.
18:06 There you go.
18:07 Run across the room. Let's see. This is one important here.
18:12 Find your main water shut off valve.
18:15 Because I know you guys had a flood there today, but no idea
18:18 no can I tell you a funny story. Okay, so we had all the
18:21 water shut off for everything because they were doing all the
18:23 work and stuff, but they had finally reinstalled the
18:26 toilets and I was like hey, okay, can I you know, you know
18:29 use the bathroom and Josh was like yes, we have to turn the
18:31 water back on and I was like I don't know how to do that.
18:33 He was like it's the little knob right there you just turn
18:35 it and I was like okay, so I go in all of our vanities are
18:38 ripped out everything the only thing that's in there is just a
18:40 toilet and I'm like
18:42 okay, well, let me turn that so I go and I turn it but it was
18:45 the water to the vanity where the sink was and it just shot
18:49 water.
18:49 Hours drying out these back from the leak and you just shot
18:58 water.
18:59 Everywhere.
19:00 My two last ones really quick how about find a wall stud.
19:11 You know how to find a wall stud. I know that we have a
19:14 finder okay, I was like the little thing that you can find
19:17 it in the wall, but not the knocking were you knocking you
19:20 find it that's that's the old way. Change the air filters on
19:25 your AC system.
19:26 >> No this is something when you get married you you say
19:31 this is Josh this is your thing so Josh has never just doesn't
19:36 know where the vacuum is he doesn't know where really.
19:39 Idea because I vacuum that I'm perfectly fine with that Josh
19:46 doesn't know where the food comes from it just magically
19:49 appears in front of.
19:50 >> I teach our like how to do laundry how to iron and
19:55 clean and stuff how to do dishes.
19:57 >> Definitely so that I think the kid job doing the dishes
20:01 load in the dishwasher knowing, but I think as they get older
20:03 setting was Josh is how many how many kids in his family,
20:06 he's like 8, 8, 8, 8, so that other people do it so did he
20:10 get to learn how to do the laundry and do the dishes and
20:13 stuff. Josh is really good when I cook he does the dish okay,
20:16 all right that's good.
20:17 That's good like last night he did all the dishes know he's
20:21 good. We have a system. Yeah, maybe it doesn't sound.
20:26 >> Well I I I made sure my son knew how to do is laundry and
20:31 cook those are 2 things I made sure because when you're a
20:33 young.
20:34 >> Person man or woman and you have the first time I yourself
20:38 you have to know how to get the basic thing right so does Josh
20:41 know how to cook.
20:41 A nice meal probably not. You know, crack macaroni and
20:46 cheese and a pot and cook it so I know he survived.
20:50 >> I get let me ask this does not find a good cocktail.
20:53 >> He is pretty good about that yeah, yes, make it know he
20:58 would not he can he he always finds good restaurants around
21:02 town. I like it so because we have a couple of because we
21:05 have the 12th annual.
21:06 >> There you go okay, so something really exciting
21:09 happening this weekend is the 12th annual cocktail weekend is
21:12 returning to downtown Phoenix. So it's happening all weekend
21:15 long Friday to have events Saturday to have cool events
21:18 and Sunday they have something which I really wanted to call
21:21 the last slinger standing and that is a competition that's
21:25 happening this weekend. So this is great. This is the 12th
21:28 year doing it okay, they've they've done here in the Valley
21:31 for a long time so if you're a cocktail aficionado this is
21:34 definitely something up your alley and this is something I
21:36 want to talk about because it's kind of fun kind of cool bunch
21:39 of different bars and restaurants are are
21:41 participating and then you know you get to have cool cocktails
21:45 so you can buy tickets online should do a cut we should make
21:48 a cocktail we've been sent to by the way we should have a
21:51 nice I don't bring that up but what happened. I brought these
21:53 are very small small is because the Taylor Swift. A real thing.
21:58 >> But let's make a thing about making cocktails we should have
22:02 a cocktail competition right. I would sweep. Okay, I think
22:06 we're going to play that we're going to play. Maybe the day
22:10 before my birthday.
22:12 >> Are you make okay, I like that I will sweep I'm telling
22:15 you well, I know one thing that will definitely make people
22:17 winner and that is a Renaissance on festival tickets.

22:48 >> For your chance has.
22:51 >> All right national on the day is tomorrow, but we're
22:56 celebrating a day early with some great tips to add more
22:59 almonds into your diet, yeah, we're joined by ratio
23:02 dietitian Christie whale who is giving us 3 tips we need to
23:06 know about of course. Welcome how are you having me so this
23:13 is good, okay, very important, let's talk about almonds and
23:16 how good they are for you.
23:18 >> Oh my gosh, yes, so almonds are definitely one of those
23:21 nutritious foods that we want to be implementing more into
23:24 our diets for so many reasons from trial to both. So first of
23:30 all they are such a great source of healthy fats healthy
23:33 plant-based fat so those monounsaturated polyunsaturated
23:37 fats we definitely want to incorporate that more into our
23:39 diets also great source of fiber so fun fact you can
23:44 actually get 3 grams of fiber per every one ounce of almonds
23:48 yes, I feel like 2024 is definitely the year of fiber
23:50 everyone should be everyone is trying to increase their fiber
23:54 intake and almonds are really great way to do this.
23:56 >> Okay so for those of us out there who who maybe don't know
23:58 like me why is fiber so good for you.
24:01 >> Oh gosh so you should definitely be trying to get
24:04 across the board minimum 25 grams of fiber every single day
24:08 for great digestion really gets things moving which is going to
24:11 help decrease the chances of colon cancer which is definitely
24:14 a big issue now.
24:16 >> All right, well, let's get into what we have on the table
24:19 what we have going on.
24:20 >> So first I have some honey almond granola Sir really one
24:24 of the comments to be the star of the show so I kept it very
24:27 simple very minimal. It's sweetened naturally with the
24:30 honey but the Oats these to the base and then I have the
24:34 almonds just chopped them up in a little food processor, but
24:37 you can also keep them whole or even talking about by hand if
24:40 you don't have a food processor. All that on a baking
24:43 sheet, yes, you just think you you know mix it all up get all
24:48 coded and then you throw on baking sheet for about 30
24:51 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
24:53 >> So you see the only thing that's really here are the is
24:56 the Oats the almonds and a little bit of honey, yeah,
24:59 it's so easy a lot of good mess. All right here.
25:03 >> This one is going to be almond milk so this is whole
25:07 on this is the first idea that I had and then this is going to
25:10 be another way to get on this which is going to be almond
25:13 milk. So I didn't a little smoothie already blended up,
25:17 but you'll see here look how good this almond milk looks
25:20 yeah, it's beautiful, it looks just like cows milk, but it's a
25:23 really great alternative to a cosmic for those who can't have
25:26 dairy right so those who are lactose intolerant so you would
25:29 suggest just just downing a glass of almond milk sure
25:32 absolutely.
25:33 >> I don't really whatever you're going to have.
25:36 >> So I have a sweet they have different flavors to write
25:39 that are good. Yeah, I do this is not a sweet and one which I
25:42 do like because you can customize it, however, you want
25:46 you can add just like it did with this movie I did the
25:48 unsweetened and I added banana for sweetness and some maple
25:51 syrup. Yeah, I'm not sure the stuff exactly just kind of like
25:55 this kept very minimal same thing with this very much
25:57 tasty OK now these look like the start of the show over here
26:00 all my gosh, yes, so I'm in flower is my other tip for
26:04 getting an almond is another great way it's a great
26:07 alternative to traditional flower. So those who can't have
26:10 wheat flowers are with a gluten intolerance someone who has
26:13 celiac disease. This is a really great way you get that
26:17 healthy fat that fiber and it's just I made a traditional
26:21 blueberry muffins so who doesn't like a blue.
26:23 >> Okay, well we also I have to ask because for me I have
26:27 tried to cook with alternative flowers and more.
26:29 >> A big with alternative and it was a mess. How do you know
26:34 is it one to one is it to what how do you know how much to
26:37 do that's a really great question I think it depends on
26:39 the recipe because there's so many things you can do with the
26:41 flour you can make it in baking like like I did here you can
26:45 also use it and like a savory dish you can like coats.
26:49 >> Yeah, like let's say if you want to make chicken tenders
26:52 you could do some almond flour coated chicken tenders really
26:56 just depends but I would just play around with it like don't
26:59 take it too seriously.
27:00 >> So you say almost use it like regular flower, yeah,
27:03 that's so use the same portions. Yeah, you could even
27:08 make like pancakes. You said for people who have like
27:12 problems because it's not made from the wheat flour like a
27:15 traditional. Yeah, I never thought about that.
27:20 >> And it's crazy because sorry it's crazy because these
27:24 almonds are just dried up in ground into a really fine
27:27 flour like who would have thought that you can make a
27:29 flower. Yeah, wow.
27:31 >> So all right we also talk about this a handful of
27:33 almonds, I mean you recommend just one handful a day or what
27:36 he.
27:38 >> It's funny because I wanted to bring a 3 like unique ways
27:41 yeah, and all means so you don't have to eat almonds by
27:43 the end full if you don't want to but if you did want to sure
27:46 yeah, I think a handful a day is absolutely great way to do
27:49 that.
27:50 >> All right, well, these are some great tips get in those

29:16 Queen in surprise. You're excited because there's a happy
29:20 hour that is all over the different barrio Queens that
29:24 you're so proud to come back with and you got some great
29:26 dishes on that menu don't you.
29:27 >> Really good dishes we have 7 different dishes all varieties
29:31 of everything so yes, it's a great great menu so.
29:33 >> And you have the people's favorite sets of course the
29:35 street tacos.
29:36 >> Yes.
29:37 >> So guacamole.
29:38 >> There's no guacamole on the happy hour menu but you can
29:40 always you can always do a table side but we got some
29:43 mellow the race we've got some flout that's in Panadas some
29:46 not cheat those which is a small abortion or not just so
29:49 yeah.
29:50 >> Oh my gosh so a lot there on thank you all man this is
29:51 awesome, what's also awesome is that you guys have decided to
29:54 bring back the but he does right after makes could be with
29:57 the PDS with the heat us now they are permanently on the
30:00 menu.
30:01 >> They are we started as a summer special they did so good
30:03 that we brought it up for the fall and now they made into a
30:05 regular menu so yes, let's make some could you make some right
30:08 here for so how does this all start so we got some a mix of
30:11 peppers a lot of peppers, red peppers, red onions and and
30:14 yellow onions, some going to start with some oil here.
30:16 >> All right into the veggies hot.
30:18 >> Stand back a little bit who wrote stand back OK.
30:21 So just going to stop saying this for a little bit let it
30:27 go.
30:28 And they will add up what some seasonings so this a mixture of
30:32 spices oregano cumin and other things that I can tell you you
30:35 can't tell me later on you well that I will and then and then
30:39 to finish it off a little bit of so it's us which is going to
30:41 add a little a lot of flavor and just bring everything
30:44 together. Let's see.
30:46 >> Look at that and that's what's so great about this dish
30:49 is that it's healthy it's good for you. Yeah, and it could be
30:53 more than one person absolutely so what we have over here we
30:56 have a trio for heat us which is some a double girl shrimp
30:59 from kind of saw that and some are marinated chicken as well
31:02 yeah, we've got the veggies right here.
31:04 >> And then I like that is that a side of rice and beans.
31:07 >> Yeah, so this is a site for the heat as we've got some
31:09 charlby's we've got some Mexican rice some of the
31:11 government and some fresh flower to be a sort of you to
31:14 make tacos so I guess this is amazing that also to we've got
31:18 to mention you got that for real that everyone loves that
31:20 is just I mean to die for yeah, the idea is take a break.
31:24 >> It's it's rice and that should be short rib and it's
31:27 up with our green sauce and red pepper sauce man this is
31:30 great all right is this almost ready. Yeah, this is it so
31:33 we're just going to play it.
31:35 So the veggies right here and they were just finish it off
31:38 like that we have just a little bit of a water there so so you
31:41 get that smoke so right there and this looks so delicious
31:44 well, we also know that with those happy hour. Menu items
31:49 we've got to have a drink right. I'm going to bar.
31:52 >> Chef just put me the amazing the heat of that's back on the
32:04 menu. Yeah, now there is a happy hour that you have to
32:07 buy for cocktails everybody can do beer, but here at bar,
32:10 a Queen you guys do to keep that we do we do we do a lot
32:13 of it. Yeah, for sure so let's start down here what we have
32:16 here for happy hour.
32:17 >> So starting down here that's going to be our house made
32:19 sangria so we're going to put a little bit all natural mango
32:22 puree down at the bottom fresh red wine sangria and that
32:25 garnish that with an orange wheel we've got amazing food as
32:29 well, you know Julio did a great job curating a menu
32:31 specific for happy hour, a potato and bananas and loathe
32:35 ribs of flout does tacos tons of great food, you know,
32:39 all right, you can't come into the bar, a Queen while having a
32:41 margarita my right you have to you have and you've got not
32:44 just one you've got a couple different ones we do so in all
32:46 the margaritas are going to be $5 during our happy hour,
32:49 the ones that we're going to feature is going to be the
32:50 barrio margarita that's just a classic straightforward
32:53 margarita we've got the skinny margarita as well we've got the
32:56 info a go for a spicy margarita and then we have our
33:00 jalapeno margarita we're going to infuse that to kill it in
33:03 house to gosh OK you got the down who are going but not just
33:06 one shot of down who do you got a couple of different shots of
33:08 that we do we've got 3 right you can't just have one so

34:52 more and here to help us is Lindsey her of the AJP how are
34:56 you doing I I'm great thing that made all sense to people
34:59 because people are wondering okay, the Arizona justice
35:03 project and it's really where we said it's help inmates who
35:06 have been incarcerated or you know are on the way to the
35:10 incarceration. And their case is kind of been either.
35:16 We want to say either overlooked in a way and so that sends
35:19 them to jail or not even being heard in the right way and
35:22 that's where you guys come in.
35:23 >> Right, yes, so we're we're a nonprofit organization and

35:32 serving their sentence who have a claim of innocence that they
35:36 did not commit the crime or a claim of manifest injustice
35:40 which might be an excessive sentence or something like
35:43 that. We'll write into us and we receive about 400 requests

35:50 And our staff and our our legal interns that every case and
35:55 investigate cases and then we go from there on who we can
35:59 represent and help.
36:00 >> Yeah, and this is a very important project as we do have
36:02 people who have been you know sent to jail. On just for a lot
36:07 of different reasons. It's one maybe they did not even commit
36:10 the crime or be in the wrong place the wrong time are
36:12 associated with people and that's what again these cases
36:15 are very important here because you're really taking someone's
36:18 life away for a crime they didn't commit.
36:21 >> Yeah, there's impact on that person in the case of you know
36:26 when someone is innocent and they've they've been charged
36:29 and convicted of a crime that somebody else committed that's
36:32 something that the entire community deals with because
36:35 then a guilty person is still out there. And you know for
36:40 individuals who are excessively sentenced,
36:43 you know that impacts not just them but their entire families
36:47 and loved ones and so so there's a lot of rippling
36:51 effects of both wrongful conviction cases and manifest
36:54 injustice cases.
36:55 >> Yeah, because people to realize like you know when
36:57 someone does break the law. There's so many other laws

37:15 Amazing you guys have helped 43 people already in Arizona.
37:18 Of course get freedom which is so important to their families
37:21 and their lives. Yes, yes, I want so in the game coming up
37:25 let's talk about the last like a Lindsay so proud of you guys
37:27 should be it's it's a big project take on and it's there
37:30 as you said you're you're helping families and people so
37:33 this gala coming up March 1st is very important for people to
37:36 attend is that.
37:37 >> Yes, yes, so it's our big annual fundraiser where we
37:41 bring the community together to support the work of the
37:44 Arizona justice project. And this year I think we have 15
37:48 of our free to exonerated clients and some of their
37:51 family members that will be there. So we're excited to
37:54 honor them and then we have a keynote speaker is a man named
37:58 Kirk bloodsworth out of the state of Maryland. He was the
38:01 first person to be exonerated by the use of DNA testing
38:05 having been convicted of a crime and sentenced to death

38:11 we've seen since the 90's how many more people you know how
38:16 whose innocence have been proven through the use of DNA
38:18 testing including here in Arizona. Yeah, and that's the
38:21 thing about this project is that you listen to every case
38:24 of the way you guys are there's pretty much criteria to it's
38:27 not just where anybody send you something you're like OK,

38:32 doesn't it. Yes, yes, I mean it takes us months if not years
38:36 to vet and investigate cases and see if we uncover evidence
38:41 of a wrongful conviction. Yeah, OK so if someone right now has

38:47 incarcerated. You know wrong how they get a hold of you is
38:50 there is a letter they sent to you or they sit with you what
