00:06 >> Yeah, it is really amazing cuz if you look at Steve Wilkes in the 49ers,
00:10 like earlier this season, I knew there was something going on.
00:12 When Kyle Shanahan was not happy with a blitz that was not picked up well,
00:17 in terms of coverage, remember that game against Minnesota.
00:21 Then against Seattle, he admitted on the record to their media
00:25 that he called more man coverage against DK Metcalf.
00:28 You don't normally see that, now it's within his rights, he's the head coach.
00:31 Let's go to the Super Bowl, they're up 10 to 3.
00:36 Their defense could not have done a better job.
00:37 They did a phenomenal job of making Mahomes hold on the football.
00:40 Mahomes was just not willing to pull the trigger for whatever reason.
00:43 Now second half, they collapsed somewhat, but
00:46 their offense was not great in the postseason.
00:49 Let's call it like it is, they just weren't for whatever reason.
00:52 Their defense is actually pretty good.
00:54 Now, what Kyle Shanahan understood, he talked about this on the record,
00:59 Wilkes is running not the same scheme that he's run in his career, and
01:02 it was a little bit harder for him.
01:03 But the results were the results,
01:04 they were top ten in most good categories, the ones that are important.
01:08 So now he's gotta redo this.
01:11 And they lost, by the way,
01:12 some really quality assistance to better jobs elsewhere.
01:15 So you gotta look at this kind of stuff.
01:17 When you lose your best assistants, it's not always easy to replace them.
01:21 Name to look at here internally is Daniel Bullocks,
01:24 who's their defensive backs coach.
01:25 I know of two teams that were looking at him potentially.
01:28 Had the Niners been out early,
01:30 they probably would have interviewed him for a defense coordinator job.
01:32 You might remember him and his brother were longtime defensive backs in
01:35 the National Football League as players.
01:38 So that's a name internally to keep a look at here.
01:39 But the Brandon Iyuk situation, look, we have to understand here, and
01:44 we've talked about this, this is a controlled offense.
01:47 They're not gonna be pass happy.
01:49 You can't make everybody happy.
01:50 McCaffrey's gotta get the ball in the pass game.
01:53 Kittle's gotta get the football, okay?
01:55 Samuel's gotta get the football.
01:57 He's not gonna average seven or eight catches a game.
01:59 He's gonna average between three and five.
02:01 That's just the way it is.
02:02 He had one game this season of eight catches or more.
02:05 By the way, that was in week one.
02:06 That's the way it is.
02:07 He's a terrific football player.
02:09 So keep an eye on his situation cuz you can't pay everybody.
02:12 Kittle's eyes paid 10 in football.
02:14 Samuel's making a ton of money.
02:15 McCaffrey, they may have to look at his contract over the next season.

02:21 That is absolutely something to take a look at here when it comes to Brandon Iyuk
02:24 in the future.
02:25 >> Yeah, if I were Lynch, I'd trade him to a team where he could catch seven to
02:31 ten targets a week and never even come close to an NFC title game or
02:35 an AFC title game.
02:36 See how he likes playing on a team that never wins.
02:39 Those are the teams that have guys that get 12 catches a week and
02:43 they never win.
02:44 But when you're part of something special, you can catch six or seven passes and
02:49 make it to the Super Bowl and be part of something.
02:51 But when you're all about yourself, you end up being a guy like Brandon Iyuk.
02:56 And I have said to you repeatedly, this guy talks more smack than anyone in
03:00 the NFL.
03:01 After catches, after drops, after plays, he's always in someone's face talking.
03:06 And then, I'm sorry, the results just aren't there.
03:09 I don't think he deserves the money that he wants.
03:12 He wants all these passes.
03:13 Well, ship his ass somewhere where he can get all the passes and
03:15 never play in a big game.
