00:00What's going to go on with Niners wide receiver Brandon Ayuk, Scotty?
00:08This has been going on, let's just say this has really been going on for months, right?
00:12This has been months of this stuff with Ayuk, and it seems like it's kind of getting to
00:16the end, right?
00:17They've allowed him to talk to other teams.
00:20They allegedly had deals in place with Cleveland and New England.
00:24New England has then backed out saying when they got to talk contract with him, he didn't
00:28sound like he wanted to go there, so they have kind of bowed out of all the proceedings.
00:34I'm going to give you the Steeler side of it too.
00:36I did just see a report from Adam Schefter that said that the Ayuk, the situation is
00:44at a standstill and that the 49ers are not in a rush to make a move.
00:51So maybe all of this for nothing.
00:53Here is Kyle Shanahan yesterday talking about the Ayuk situation.
00:58I mean, it's been at this point for a little bit, so it's nothing really new to me.
01:03I mean, you're always disappointed when you can't keep a hold of all your players or it's
01:06not going exactly right.
01:08I mean, I don't like losing anybody, so that's why I'm hoping it does work out here.
01:13But right now we don't have that solved yet, so I hope it does.
01:16Is the offer you guys made a final offer or is there a chance?
01:21I mean, I'm not getting any specifics with offers, contracts, trades, anything like that.
01:26What I can tell you guys is nothing has changed.
01:28A lot was out yesterday and stuff, but from the situation that we're in with Brandon,
01:33nothing's changed.
01:34Listen, I'll tell you what's changed is that they are not giving him the money he wants
01:42and it's not happening.
01:44And there is no way that it will happen when they're out having negotiations with upwards
01:50of three to four teams.
01:53Now, a couple of them have already backed out of it.
01:56Allegedly, the Patriots backed out and that turned into a big story.
02:00I don't understand, frankly, why that's a big story.
02:04What's so big about backing out of a deal?
02:06There was no deal.
02:07There was nothing consummated at all.
02:09And they turned the fact that they backed out into a story.
02:13Backing out of what?
02:14Backing out of nothing.
02:15They didn't have a deal.
02:16So the Niners are negotiating.
02:18Now there was talk of the Browns.
02:20There was talk of Amari Cooper being involved because he's got one year left on his deal.
02:25I can see that.
02:26That's what Adam Cabin was telling us yesterday here on C2C, that it's the Browns in the lead.
02:32And then I am selfishly imploring the Steelers to give this deal whatever it takes to be
02:40crossing the finish line.
02:42I mean, if they had Pickens and Iuke on the outsides of that passing attack and they allegedly
02:48have these, you know, Wilson, you can say whatever you want about him.
02:52He put up numbers in Denver and you can say whatever you want about how bad Denver was.
02:56They still had a winning record.
02:58You can say whatever you want about fields.
03:00But when they got him, you would have thought they got King Tut and Hamann.
03:04Like the Steelers acted like they had scored this great quarterback and then they didn't
03:09pick up his fifth year option so he can leave after this year either way, which is a mistake
03:14if you ask me.
03:15I think they need him there.
03:18And they're so cheap.
03:19I can see him not giving fields what he wants because fields is going to get a lot of money
03:23from somebody.
03:24Somebody's going to make fields a starter in this league.
03:26That's all there is to it.
03:27Now, he's going to start tomorrow night or Friday night, whatever it is they play, Saturday.
03:32I can't keep track of all these games.
03:34I think it's Friday.
03:35They're playing the Texans.
03:36Anyway, he's starting that game.
03:39But look, if they had Iuke to throw to and Pickens is already a badass.
03:44Can you imagine?
03:45Those are two great receivers.
03:48Great receivers.
03:49And they already have a pass rush.
03:50They already have a defense.
03:52They already have a running game.
03:54Now they have two quarterbacks that can play.
03:57What don't they have?
03:59If they got that guy, to me, they are a legitimate AFC North contender to win the division.
04:06Yeah, I don't disagree with you.
04:10And I think that fields is interesting.
04:13And I think that that's a guy that may, you know, I think he's made enough headway here
04:17where he might be the guy in week one, depending how things shake out.
04:21But when it comes to Iuke Scottie, I think you said the key word when it comes to the
04:25Steelers.
04:26And that's why it makes me seeing the Steelers involved, it's kind of interesting.
04:30You said they're cheap.
04:31They're cheap with a lot of these guys.
04:34How many wide receivers have the Steelers just let leave?
04:37That they drafted, that they developed, that they didn't want to pay?
04:42And now they're going to go give another wide receiver $30 million a year?
04:45That doesn't make sense to me.
04:46It's not their normal operating procedure.
04:49That's the only thing that makes it weird for me with the Steelers.
04:53You know, listen, you're right.
04:55And that is notoriously their track record is they just let him leave.
04:59Every one of them.
05:00They let every guy leave, whether he was crazy or not.
05:02Antonio Brown, they let him leave.
05:04I mean, every guy, Claypool, it goes on and on.
05:08Deontay Johnson, I could go on and on.
05:10But the reality is this, is that somebody, whether it's Omar Khan or somebody, even Tomlin
05:19or somebody, could it be Rooney?
05:22Could someone finally just admit that if they had a guy this good, and they paid him, and
05:28they had Pickens and this guy as their receivers, that to me is legitimately Lin Swan and John
05:35Stallworth.
05:36That is legitimately a sickening passing attack.
05:41And this is a league predicated on passing, predicated on quarterbacks, predicated on
05:47receivers.
05:48That's who makes all the money.
05:49So give him the money, and then you have a Super Bowl contender for the next three or
05:56four years.
05:57You'd have a Super Bowl contender for the next three or four years because Pickens is
06:00young and so is IU.
06:02And if you pay both of them now, you win.
06:06Forget about waiting for four or five years for the next star to come along that they
06:09can cheap out on in a rookie deal.
06:12This is a guy that could make them a Super Bowl contender, I think, immediately.
