00:00 We're expecting showers across Sydney today, but the Bureau are also forecasting thunderstorms
00:07 and they're warning that those thunderstorms could be severe, so that could impact that
00:11 clean-up effort as people clean up after those storms that swept across Sydney yesterday.
00:16 We saw about 75,000 lightning strikes across Sydney.
00:21 One of those struck a tree at the Botanic Gardens and there were four people sheltering
00:25 under that tree.
00:26 They suffered burns and were knocked out momentarily, they were unconscious momentarily.
00:31 They were taken to hospital where they're now recovering in a stable condition.
00:35 Now the SES responded to more than 600 calls yesterday, as well as attending to 330 call-outs
00:42 for things like fallen trees, damaged roofs, and there were also several house fires around
00:48 Sydney as a result of those lightning strikes.
00:51 The SES also conducted seven flood rescues for people who were trapped in their cars
00:56 after flash flooding.
00:58 Now there was also chaos at Sydney Airport with flights delayed and cancelled after flash
01:03 flooding on the runway, and there were also reports that the runway was damaged too.
01:07 So people couldn't fly out of Sydney and people in other cities struggled to fly in to Sydney
01:12 as well with many cancellations and delays of flights.
01:16 Now today the clean-up does continue, but as I said, with those storms on the way, that
01:20 could be hindered for the cleanup effort.
