00:12 The data from 2022 shows that
00:15 the overall fertility rate of Malaysians is only 0.8%,
00:17 far below the 2.1% of the population,
00:20 which is the fertility rate that balances birth and death.
00:23 In fact, from 2015,
00:24 the fertility rate of Malaysians has dropped to less than 1.5%.
00:27 It was even lower than 1% after 2020.
00:30 The Chinese in neighboring countries like Singapore are also not too worried.
00:32 In 2022, the fertility rate of Chinese people in Singapore was only 0.87%,
00:35 which shows that even if the government keeps making fertility subsidies,
00:37 it is not very effective.
00:38 As for Macau's 0.68%, Hong Kong's 0.7%,
00:41 Taiwan's 0.87%, and China's 1.09%,
00:43 they all created a new low this year,
00:45 while the world's fertility rate was in the last half.
00:47 The new generation of Chinese people seem to have said goodbye to the idea of "children and grandchildren".

00:51 the fertility rate has fallen in the opposite direction.
