00:00 Hi there, my name is Sam from Sussex World and here are today's top stories from around
00:04 the county for Monday, February 26th.
00:07 Eastbourne's new hospital is expected to be completed around the end of the decade according
00:10 to the town's MP. It was confirmed in 2020 that a new hospital would be built in the
00:14 town and questions have been raised around Eastbourne's new hospital following an article
00:18 from the BBC titled 'Building work pending for many of 40 promised hospitals' which
00:22 was written by Catherine Burns and Vicky Loder.
00:25 However, during a recent meeting at Parliament, Eastbourne MP Caroline Ansell-Weaver stated
00:30 that a new hospital at Eastbourne District General Hospital is expected to be completed
00:34 by 2030.
00:38 A major signalling fault across Southern Network has caused huge disruption to rail travel
00:42 as operators urge commuters not to travel by train. At 3.57am Southern Rail reported
00:47 that there are no trains running throughout the entire county due to the fault. On ex-formerly
00:51 known as Twitter, Southern posted 'Due to a major signalling fault across the whole
00:55 Southern Network, no trains were running until further notice'. Thameslink, Southern Rail
01:00 and Gatwick Express trains have all been counted as delayed due to the fault with further disruption
01:03 expected until 3pm.
01:06 And finally, a landslip has occurred in St Lennon's for the second time in a matter of
01:10 days. The landslip occurred at Caves Road in the town and is not the first time that
01:15 there has been a landslip in the area. Residents face having to leave their homes on February
01:19 21st after a landslip in Old Royal Gill and residents affected by the landslide asked
01:23 for urgent talks with Hastings Borough Council to prevent more land being lost and homes
