00:00 Hi, my name is Sam from the Sussex World and here are today's top stories from around the
00:04 county for Wednesday, February 28th.
00:07 A driver has been treated for injuries following a bus collision which saw the vehicle come
00:10 off the road in Pevensey. Sussex Police responded to reports of a bus having been involved in
00:14 a collision in Walsing Road at about 9.50pm last night.
00:19 The driver was treated at the scene by the ambulance service for minor injuries, police
00:23 confirmed, while all occupants of the bus were safely evacuated with no injuries. The
00:27 road was closed in both directions while emergency crews dealt with the incident and reopened
00:31 at 10.43pm.
00:35 The historic Winter Garden in Eastbourne could finally get a facelift, years after securing
00:38 funds. A planning application for improvement works to the Grade II listed building in Compton
00:42 Street has been submitted to Eastbourne Borough Council and comes nearly four years after
00:47 it was announced that the council would receive £1.6m from the government's Getting Building
00:51 Fund to restore the historic venue as part of Eastbourne's post-Covid economic recovery.
00:59 And finally, six new council homes have been completed for local residents in the Ada District
01:03 who are in need of somewhere to live. Former garage compound between Sylvan Road and Avonclose
01:08 in Sompton has been redeveloped to create four two-bedroom houses and two one-bedroom
01:13 bungalows. Ada District Council said each of the properties will go to residents on
01:17 the council's housing waiting list. And more council homes are currently being built
01:21 on Fishers Gate, Shoreham and Southwick, while new sites have also been identified in Lansing.
