00:00 Well, staying in the West,
00:01 there's a lot more on the way for
00:03 California from that storm system.
00:04 I was talking about and this is
00:06 after a week of a break from all
00:08 the recent weather that we had
00:10 throughout February.
00:10 Bernie Reynos shows us what
00:12 to expect as March begins.
00:13 Well, it's hard to believe March
00:17 begins on Friday and it's going
00:18 to come in like a lion,
00:20 especially across the Western
00:21 United States as we have a
00:22 powerful storm that actually
00:24 begins on Thursday and it's going
00:25 to last in the Sunday as well.
00:27 Now this storm is going to be
00:29 different than previous storms.
00:30 This is not a rainstorm for cities like
00:32 Los Angeles, Sacramento or San Francisco.
00:34 The main thrust of this storm is
00:36 going to be the snow in the mountains.
00:39 This is going to be a huge snowstorm
00:41 with several feet of snow up above
00:43 6000 feet. The worst of the wind and
00:46 the snow is going to be Friday into
00:48 Saturday when this is going to turn
00:50 into an all out blizzard and I do
00:53 believe there's going to be road.
00:55 And pash closures,
00:56 especially during that time frame,
00:58 a Friday and Saturday.
00:59 Where's the storm right now?
01:00 There it is in the Bering
01:02 Sea and across the Aleutian Islands.
01:04 Now we're going to track this.
01:06 It's going to come across Alaska.
01:08 There it goes and then come right
01:10 in to Northern California.
01:12 Notice where this storm is coming from.
01:14 It's coming from the Bering Sea,
01:16 so this storm is going to be a lot
01:18 different than its predecessors.
01:20 'cause this is going to have a lot more
01:22 cold air, less moisture, but a lot more
01:24 cold air and we're going to see snow
01:27 that we haven't seen a lot to worry
01:29 this winter down to about 1500 to 2000
01:31 feet and the snow is just going to be.
01:34 I think extreme.
01:35 This is the biggest snowstorm in the Sierra.
01:37 I think overall for the Siskiyou's in the
01:40 Sierra that we've seen this winter time
01:42 about 4 to 8 feet above 6000 feet.
01:44 Again, a blizzard unfolds Friday
01:46 into Saturday and there will be
01:48 dangerous if not life threatening
01:50 travel conditions during this time.
01:51 Friday in the Saturday.
01:53 Meanwhile,
01:53 out ahead of this storm,
01:54 well, here we go again.
01:56 You get that big dip in the
01:58 jet stream in the West.
02:00 What does that mean?
02:02 Look at the incredible warmth that
02:03 we're going to be looking at in
02:06 the central Plains states.
02:07 So for example,
02:08 in Dallas as we cool things down
02:10 during the middle part of the week,
02:12 we're back up in the 70s and 80s by late week.
