00:00 Well, we're ending the week dry in the Northeast, but the rain it's here for the weekend.
00:04 Perfect timing, right?
00:05 What can we expect beyond the weekend, though?
00:07 Let's head to Bernie Rayno and active weather long range expert Joe Lundberg to find out.
00:12 All right, it's time to take a look at next week.
00:17 Another interesting weather pattern setting up, Joe.
00:20 And when you take a look at next week, what are the three things that we need to be ready
00:25 for?
00:26 The thing that catches my attention most is beware the ides of March is a big trough that
00:31 will come through the northwest Tuesday.
00:33 Dive into the Rockies Wednesday.
00:34 I think it means a severe weather threat for March 14th and 15th.
00:38 The ides of March.
00:39 So keep an eye on that.
00:40 It's really cold air lacking in the pattern for from the plains of the East Coast next
00:43 week and you're in the East.
00:44 You're going to get a much deserved break from all the rain that you've seen over the
00:47 past week or so.
00:48 And, you know, Joe, across the country, we've had ample rain so far this winter.
00:53 And when you take a look at the drought monitor, other than the Midwest and plains, we're in
00:58 pretty good shape.
00:59 Yeah, look at this out in California.
01:00 Obviously, as you guys have been pointing out, the drought's gone.
01:03 I mean, you're not going to see it here in the middle part of the country.
01:06 This is the area of greatest concern in the East.
01:07 You've had so much rain.
01:08 You have no drought worries for some time to come.
01:11 If you look at the pattern next week, you know, we're going to be seeing some changes.
01:15 I've mentioned already in the West is a system that's going to come through on Thursday on
01:19 Tuesday.
01:20 That dive southeastward ridge pops up behind it.
01:22 That means dry, mild weather for most of the second half of next week and next weekend.
01:26 But watch this trough as we go toward the end of next week.
01:30 That system is going to be working its way out of the Rockies into the southern plains,
01:34 pulling more moist air up from the Gulf of Mexico.
01:36 That means a threat of severe weather.
01:37 Texas, Oklahoma, all the way to basically the southeastern states.
01:42 At least it'll be mild and dry in the northeast.
01:44 And one thing to get ready for for the end of March, Joe.
01:48 Keep an eye.
01:49 The storm system that I just talked about will work its way northeastern behind it.
01:53 It looks like there's going to be a piece of energy coming out of the plains, northern
01:56 plains and Rockies and really central Canada.
02:00 And it's going to bring with it cold air.
02:01 So the period from the 19th to the end of the month, maybe winter's last stand.
02:05 A few episodes of cold, typical for early March as opposed to late March.
02:09 And there may be an opportunity for some higher elevation snows in the northeast.
