00:13 Open we'll break down all of that Patty gas. Oh went an incredible 21 minute press conference on Tuesday
00:21 Impossible to fit it all in we'll try to hit the highlights
00:24 But we also get to talk to Ella Parker got to talk to Carly Keeney got to break down
00:27 What Oklahoma will see this weekend as they look ahead to opening the OU?

00:37 Hello hello Ryan Chapman here back with the all Sooners softball show as we carry on
00:53 The calendar is about to flip to March one more day elite day, but March 1st will be a
00:59 monumental day in the history of not just OU sports Oklahoma softball, but softball as a whole the Sooners are setting the new standard
01:08 With what it means to have a softball
01:10 Facility in this country with what it means to truly support your athletes in the sport of softball and that facility will be
01:17 Loves field the Sooners have tripled their square footage not of just the stadium
01:22 But all the guts everything that goes into it the indoor facility the recovery rooms the training rooms the locker rooms the clubhouse
01:29 All of that stuff is not all gonna be open this weekend
01:34 But a hundred percent operational on the fan side on the game day side
01:39 Oklahoma will have to get dressed get warmed up at Marina Hines shuffle over to loves field
01:43 That's just a temporary thing by the time postseason rolls around it'll be fully open and firing
01:48 But the fans a sellout crowd we packed in this weekend as the Sooners get rolling
01:53 I went back way way back to when loves field was announced Patty Gasso at that time had said man
02:00 She doesn't know what it's gonna be like standing that third base coaches box
02:03 Come the bottom of the first and as we approach the day, it's finally here
02:09 Coach gas is kind in the same spot. I don't even know what to tell you about loves feel because I it's still a dream and
02:16 Until the first pitch is thrown is when I will really pinch myself because I won't I go by it every day
02:23 I try to look over and see anything new
02:26 I did get down on the ground floor
02:32 When I wasn't supposed to
02:37 And it is an absolute wow factor empty
02:42 I can't even imagine when you get excited senior fans in there what this is gonna be like
02:47 But I think we all feel a little anxious about it because we just don't know what it's gonna play like what it's gonna feel like
02:54 We may not know that until a consistent theme for Patty gas
02:59 So for the players that we've talked to this whole time has been
03:03 This is not just a stadium for the here and the now but it's built on the shoulders of those teams all throughout
03:10 Oklahoma softball history Patty gas those first teams that played across the street from Rita Hines at Reeves Park
03:15 Patty gas those teams that moved into Marita Hines the
03:18 2000 championship team all the way through this year's three-time defending national champions
03:24 No one person that Patty gas was really thinking of as Oklahoma heads in is more of what it means that
03:31 This is the kind of facility that dreams are made of the kind of facility that no one even
03:36 Patty gas so could have imagined when she took the helm in Norman three decades ago

03:44 I'm looking at the wall behind you. I think of the 2000 team

03:56 Think of the team that was over at Marie or over at Reeves
04:00 And never got a locker room and even when we had this bill
04:06 We didn't have this building
04:07 So players were still dressing in the bathrooms or dressing at home and going home in their uniforms
04:14 So I think about those
04:16 athletes that
04:19 Are alums but never got to experience this and so what we're really trying to do is
04:25 Is embrace all of our alumni and say this is you've all built this
04:30 and
04:32 That's really I mean, there's no one particular person. There's been some amazing performances and
04:38 You know
04:41 Jocie alo Lauren Chamberlain Kehlani Ricketts. I mean those are the big names of the people you think of but I
04:48 Want to honor those that came way even before me because this they played over at Reeves and they got this thing started
04:55 So we're really trying to make a good push for our alums and embrace all of them to celebrate this moment
05:02 Wrapped up in the bubble here in Oklahoma easy to be fired up by Loves Field, but Carly Keeney
05:07 Actually had a really unique perspective on Loves Field
05:11 Patti Gasso talked about reaching out to Liberty wanting that to be one of the first teams that got to come in and play with
05:18 Doc Richardson so Carly Keeney knew she'd be playing at Loves Field
05:21 Not sure she ever thought she'd be donning the crimson in the cream
05:25 But this is Carly Keeney
05:26 Oklahoma transfer pitchers perspective on what Loves Field meant when it was announced at the college softball world and how excited she is to actually
05:33 Get to take the field in it this weekend. So actually
05:36 We had talked about whenever I was at Liberty
05:39 Coach Richardson and come up to me and was like hey
05:42 What do you think about going to play in the first tournament that OU is hosting at their new field?
05:48 And so we had already kind of agreed and planned to come play here before so it was definitely news and other programs
05:54 And just like wow, this is really cool
05:57 Now Loves Field wasn't the only thing we talked about on Tuesday
06:01 As I said Ella Parker Carly Keeney had some great insight Carly Keeney a really really weird journey once she arrived at Oklahoma
06:08 She broke her finger essentially in the first practice of fall ball just in a regular drill
06:14 Patti Gasso's told that story but Carly Keeney had a pretty interesting perspective of someone coming from
06:18 Being the anchor of a staff to the member of a staff that immediately taken that step back
06:23 She believes that being able to sink it in learn from Jin Rocha while not actually in the bullpen all
06:29 Fall was actually a big help for her progression as she has started off a fantastic final year her only year in Norman
06:37 It gave me a whole new perspective. I've never really been able to sit back and
06:43 view things
06:45 Differently, I've always been kind of go go always the one pitching and so being able to sit back and look at other pitchers bullpens
06:53 Here what coach Rocha was saying to them and looking at different like
06:56 Statistics and things like that and being able to kind of decipher things from a coach Rocha point of view really helped me and understand
07:03 the game more
07:04 So I think that was really valuable for me and kind of helped me transition into this
07:08 New phase and the more information I have here how to digest that
07:13 Keeney isn't the only one who's had a great start to the season true freshman Ella Parker has come in Patti Gasso talked about her
07:20 All the way back the first press conference of this year if you remember here on the all-senior softball show
07:26 This is someone that Patti Gasso said this is a bat that needs to be in the lineup and while she got her first two
07:31 Home runs to push over the fifth this past weekend one consistent part of Ella Parker's game has been how calm how cool how?
07:38 Collected she always looks in the box
07:40 She talked about that mentality and what's allowed her to settle in so quickly at
07:44 Oklahoma as part of one of the most powerful lineups in college softball. I
07:49 Do my best to just like keep all the outside voices
07:52 shut off and I really focused on my breathing and that's what helps me stay calm because if I
07:58 Start to lose track of that. That's when I start to get all rampant ramped up
08:03 So just really focusing on my breathing is what's helped me stay calm and no matter what situation it is
08:09 You could be forgiven between the spectacle of this weekend to not quite remember. Oh, you know five games
08:15 They got to play this weekend
08:16 It's not just gonna be opening up loves field
08:18 But the soonest riding that 67 game winning streak have one game against my of Ohio and then two games each against Liberty and Louisiana
08:26 It's gonna be a monumental weekend for everything about loves field settling in all that stuff
08:31 But there's still business to be
08:33 attended to and Patti Gasso has stocked this with a pretty good field one that will test
08:38 Oklahoma in different ways as they move from the Miami of Ohio game into Liberty into Louisiana
08:43 Across the five-game slate Friday to Friday to Saturday and one on Sunday who were playing this weekend dot Richardson from Liberty
08:51 They're always competitive. I think they're having a little bit of a rough start, but they're always competitive
08:56 And I personally wanted her to be here for the opening. So that meant a lot to me that she would do that
09:03 Miami of Ohio we took that trip out there last year. They're returning the trip and
09:09 They play hard. They're gonna push us. I think their record is 10 and 2 or something very respectable and
09:15 Louisiana
09:18 is
09:19 Always in postseason always usually in the top 25
09:23 They played a very heavy heavy schedule and they have some losses
09:29 But they they're close losses and they almost beat Texas the other day
09:33 And Jerry Glasgow is a great coach. It does gets the most out of this player
09:38 So you're gonna see some extremely competitive softball this weekend
09:42 Well without further ado Friday it is
09:46 Showtime 11 a.m. There will be the stadium dedication first game first pitch, Oklahoma, Miami of Ohio
09:54 That's gonna fire off at 2 p.m. On Friday. And as always all Sooners will be all
10:00 Over the opening of Love's Field this weekend. We'll have our guy Randall Sweet with me alongside
10:04 He'll be taking video little sights action sounds give you an idea of what it would be like to be inside
10:10 Love's Field as it opens up this weekend as well as me
10:14 I'll have five stories five different games going on
10:17 Obviously see who I can track down who I can catch up with get their thoughts on the opening loves field all across the weekend
10:24 So you won't want to go anywhere. You want to be all over all
