00:00 >> All right, walk us through those late innings and
00:02 just your thoughts on the game today.
00:04 >> Yeah, first and foremost, that was my fault.
00:08 Ben three out of four days, he wasn't his normal self and that's my fault.
00:12 So, and I told him that, that's the deal where you turn it over to a guy like that.
00:20 But three out of four days, that was the biggest thing I kicked myself about.
00:26 But I thought David did really well, but Louis threw the ball good.
00:31 And then in terms of the name of the game, Kyle Ayers,
00:34 to be able to get them off the scoreboard and give us an opportunity to win.
00:39 Like Sammy, I thought their guy came in and threw those breaking balls.
00:43 It was really, really good.
00:45 The bases loaded, nobody out, striking out the side.
00:48 So that tells you how good the breaking ball was.
00:51 And then Sammy had an opportunity again.
00:52 And like he did, I think a couple days ago, they all started running together.
00:57 But similar type hit for a win.
01:00 >> Kyle said he's been working on that fastball a lot since getting up to 98.
01:04 But then so we got to see how nice it is to have that kind of element in your
01:07 bullpen. >> It is, and I was super excited for
01:10 Kyle because it hasn't been easy for him so far this season.
01:13 And for him to come in in a game where there's a lot on the line and
01:19 he's been pitching his best that he's been at TCU, at least in the regular season.
01:22 We've seen him like that leading up to the year.
01:25 But he did a really good job of mixing pitches.
01:28 And Coach Lon did a really good job pulling pitches.
01:31 And the fastball, like you said, you gotta get it going.
01:35 You gotta get the bat going when you're sitting at 98.
01:38 And I thought he did a good job with the second intercept as well.
01:41 >> Coach, totally 5.1 innings today.
01:43 Can you talk about his performance on the mound starting today?
01:45 >> Did he go 5 and a third?
01:47 >> Yeah, I believe it was.
01:47 >> [INAUDIBLE] >> I thought he was just okay.
01:55 The big part of the game for me was when he balked.
01:59 And I went out there to argue it just to kind of almost have a timeout.
02:04 Where they had some momentum.
02:05 And then I thought he found his secondary against the next two hitters and
02:11 was able to get out of the inning.
02:12 I thought that was huge in terms of not letting that get from three to two to four
02:16 to two or even more.
02:17 So again, he hasn't hit his stride yet in terms of that.
02:22 He's been solid.
02:24 It's just a matter of kind of eliminating some of the walks,
02:27 which has gotten him into trouble.
02:29 >> What's your team's game after the game?
02:31 What was your message to the guys?
02:33 >> Well, I'll always bet on them.
02:36 No matter what it looks like, they have an opportunity to, they're just gritty.
02:41 They're a gritty club that plays for each other.
02:45 And when we struck out, Mason's loaded, struck out the side,
02:49 you knew it was gonna come back around to a guy like Sam Myers.
02:54 And he delivered.
02:56 So now it's back to O and O mentality and learning from tonight,
03:01 our today and then tonight.
03:03 And then showing up tomorrow with the same desire to win.
03:07 And not put your feet up.
03:09 Any team in the country can beat anybody.
03:12 And so we have to show up tomorrow ready to play.
03:15 And that was the message.
03:16 It's, you gotta show up.
03:18 It's O and O.
03:19 You have to have that desire to win and play good baseball.
03:23 And so this game's behind us now.
03:25 >> Kind of a corny question, but
03:26 did it kind of feel a little bit like a postseason game?
03:29 >> A little bit.
03:30 >> Yeah, a little bit.
03:31 >> Just cuz there was some punches back and forth.
03:32 >> Yeah.
03:33 >> I got myself a couple times in the dugout thinking to myself,
03:37 I hope these guys understand this is kind of a regional type game.
03:41 Where it's almost like people do or die.
03:46 That's what it felt like in terms of what they did in the ninth.
03:49 And then for us to respond back in the ninth,
03:52 that's what the postseason comes down to do is situations like that.
03:55 And it's not getting too big.
03:56 And I thought both sides did a really good job of handling their emotions.
04:00 And I thought it was a good game overall.
04:02 >> What does that say about the football?
04:07 >> Well, it means they've won ten games.
04:09 But it's been a bunch of different ways, which I think is awesome.
04:15 Because it hasn't always been easy, but they just find a way.
04:19 Winners win.
04:20 And I think there's a lot of winners in our dugout.
04:23 And they're never out of a game.
04:26 And so when you have a lot of guys that believe that and know that and
04:29 understand what it takes to win, you're gonna have games like this.
04:33 And you're gonna have opportunities to win every game.
04:36 And that's our goal.
04:38 It's not to win, our job is to make sure that we have an opportunity to win
04:41 the ball game in the ninth or after.
