00:00 >> All right, you got a hold of one tonight.
00:02 How good did that feel?
00:03 I know that there's been some challenges that's played for you so far this year.
00:07 >> Yeah, I mean, it felt good.
00:08 I think anytime you can get a head like that and start, it feels good on the swing.
00:14 So I think it was good.
00:16 I think it helped kind of get everybody going a little bit.
00:19 So and then obviously have the pitching and
00:22 everything like that tonight was really good.
00:24 So it felt good.
00:27 So try to get back on track here, so just gotta keep doing what we're doing.
00:32 >> You've been the Friday starter for the first several weekends,
00:35 hitting in the middle of the order.
00:36 How are you balancing everything coming your way right now?
00:39 >> Yeah, I think it's been a little bit of a little tough sometimes, but
00:44 just kind of listening to our body, trying to understand whenever I'm kind of feeling
00:49 off or stuff like that, but also just trying to attack it from
00:54 a just most I'd say grit is the right word,
01:00 but just kind of like going out there every day trying to be the same guy.
01:04 And then it just keeps showing up.
01:08 So we've done a good job of the low part of it with
01:13 getting off my feet every now and then.
01:17 But then we also do a great job in the winger with Weedy.
01:22 So just gotta keep doing what we're doing and then keep trying to stay healthy.
01:26 >> How important is it, Kirk mentioned you got your transfers or
01:31 portal guys, but you also got four or five, six freshmen.
01:35 >> Yeah. >> That are maybe helping you guys.
01:37 >> Absolutely, yeah, that's huge.
01:39 I mean, you got guys coming in and making big plays.
01:42 We had Brunks with a home run and
01:44 Sammy had a great weekend this past weekend.
01:48 I think that's huge, just get those guys that experience super early.
01:52 It's gonna make those games here later in the season,
01:56 just gonna make them flow a lot easier for them.
01:58 And all freshmen wants having to get that experience early,
02:03 gotta get those first couple game jitters out of the way.
02:07 I mean, they've came in and just took it by storm and it's incredible to watch.
02:11 >> So you guys got the pitching tonight,
02:14 the bats have been on fire for the first 12 games.
02:17 And you guys have won in a lot of different ways so far this year.
02:21 What does that say about maybe the character of the season?
02:24 >> Yeah, toughness, grittiness, we're always in it.
02:30 There's been a few times where we've been down,
02:34 it's like, it really doesn't feel like we're down.
02:37 I still feel like we're good in control of this game.
02:41 And that's the thing about this team, man, we never go away.
02:45 We're gonna keep going and we could be down however many runs and
02:49 it's we're just gonna keep going.
02:50 And then I think that's something too that we need to keep harping on,
02:54 is whenever we do have teams down, just trying to keep them down.
02:59 And not let them fight back in the ballgame.
03:00 I thought tonight was a big night about that,
03:04 like just pitching coming in and shoving and keeping them down.
03:08 >> You excited about going on the road?
03:12 >> Yeah. >> Different mentality.
03:14 >> I mean, it's a little bit of a different mentality,
03:16 get ready for the routine and everything.
03:19 Big 12 play, that's exciting to me.
03:22 >> So what are you looking forward to about your first go around in the conference?
03:26 >> I'd say there's a lot of things that I'm looking forward to, but
03:31 I'll probably say them after those things are done, so.
03:33 [LAUGH] >> That's great, awesome, appreciate it.
