00:00 >> Headache when that situation comes, I can definitely say Jaden cuz in the moment,
00:05 he's been my teammate for the last two, three years and having him there in that
00:08 moment, it's easy to lose sight of what's it,
00:13 the goals that we have set for ourselves.
00:16 But it's also easy to feel overwhelmed that we're not meeting those expectations.
00:21 And just having someone there to make sure that, okay, it's okay,
00:26 you might not have that, might not hit your goal this game.
00:30 But next game or next practice, you gotta go harder cuz it was something earlier
00:35 in the week that led to the preparation of you not being able to meet the goal.
00:41 And that's something that I take personally,
00:43 that's something that I feel that to myself.
00:47 But just even Jaden, he always tells me, it's okay if you don't succeed right now
00:52 because the next opportunity that comes, you will.
00:56 And it's great having a teammate around like that,
00:59 that's able to be able to keep you level-headed in hard situations,
01:03 vice versa, I do the same thing for him.
01:06 Remember, there was a game at IMG where for each other, it was pretty hard.
01:11 We were back at his hometown and of course, him being in his hometown,
01:15 he wants to be able to make plays that to his expectations.
01:21 Like you said, and so just being able to be there for each other to make sure that
01:26 keep each other cool and be like, okay, it's okay that you're not doing so
01:31 good right now, but you're still doing good.
01:34 It's just not to the level where you set the expectations to.
01:37 You're still excelling way past everyone else, but
01:42 it's that expectation that we have for ourselves that are past expectations that
01:46 people set.
01:47 And that's why sometimes we could get a little bit overwhelmed in the situation,
01:52 but just make sure that we're there for each other.
01:53 That's very big.
01:55 >> Your career just getting started, if you could fast forward and
02:00 see the future, what do you hope you accomplish in the next three,
02:03 four, five, or how many years from now?
02:05 >> Just getting my degree, that's the one thing that I'm looking forward to being
02:10 able to do.
02:11 Hopefully, God willing, I could get drafted first round.
02:15 That's the expectation I set for myself.
02:18 Just being humble, though, is something that I'm very big on.
02:21 I don't wanna put the goals out there, but
02:23 just know they're mentally written down, and I'm checking them as they happen.
02:28 >> What are you studying right now?
02:30 >> Right now, I'm studying in biology.
02:33 I have plans to go to medical school, so academics is very big for me.
02:37 I take it with a grain of salt, though,
02:39 because I wanted to study in neurology, and they don't offer it here.
02:43 But biology is something I'm definitely enjoying.
02:47 I didn't know if I was gonna enjoy it, but man, I've been loving it.
02:51 We had a lab today or earlier, and it was definitely something,
02:54 a great experience.
02:55 I had a video on my phone.
02:56 It was a good experience overall.
02:59 >> Are you cutting stuff up?
03:00 What were you doing?
03:01 >> Got some details.
03:03 >> So it was this organelle that we had, and
03:09 it gave birth on the camera, which it wasn't really supposed to.
03:12 And I had got it out the tank, and I noticed that, okay,
03:15 it was pregnant at the start of our experiment.
03:18 And I noticed that, okay, that the egg is getting bigger.
03:22 I'm like, how big is the lifespan of the organelle?
03:26 And it was two weeks, so I'm noticing, okay, it could give birth in the next day or
03:30 two, but as the lab went further on,
03:34 I could notice that the baby was starting to move around, and she started to contract.
03:39 So it was probably a 20-minute window of us just waiting for it to happen.
03:43 And so we were switching phones out, recording it, and
03:46 it ended up giving birth on camera right before everyone left.
03:50 And it was definitely, everyone in the class was going crazy about it.
03:53 It was a fun time.
03:54 >> So is that what you wanna do after football?
03:57 >> Yeah, definitely.
03:58 I wanna do something in the medical field.
04:01 I wanna become a neurosurgeon.
04:02 That's my goal.
04:03 And so going to med school is something that I'm very serious about.
04:07 Hopefully I could take the MCAT sometime, maybe in college.
04:14 But I'm pretty ahead as far as when it comes to credit hours.
04:20 And so I feel like I could graduate probably in three years,
04:24 maybe two, if I just rush it.
04:27 But I don't have to be in a rush because I am a semester ahead of everyone else.
04:32 >> We need to talk to Walter Rouse.
04:34 He wants to be a neurosurgeon too.
04:36 Or a 3D printing maven.
04:38 >> He's so funny.
04:40 >> Yeah, he wants to rule the world.
04:42 So talk to him about med school.
04:44 So if you're thinking about med school,
04:46 who's the smartest student in this freshman class?
04:49 You guys got some scholars in this group?
04:53 >> Everyone definitely has their things that they're good at.
04:57 I feel that intelligence is a very broad scale.
05:00 And so you can't really just say anything when it comes to-
05:04 >> Grades.
05:06 >> Yeah, cuz anything can play a factor in that, whether it be mental issues or,
05:11 I see mental issues, not like- >> Bad.
05:14 >> Yeah, but just like something that's going on wrong off the field.
05:17 So all I can say is that everyone's pretty intelligent.
05:21 Everyone has their quirks about them that they're great about.
05:24 And everyone in our freshman class is definitely scholars, and
05:29 that's something that I'm great about.
05:30 I'm very happy about that we have kids that want to excel in the class and
05:36 in the classroom and on the field.
05:37 And so I'm definitely happy for our 24 class.
05:41 >> You've got a lot of guys that are from the state of Oklahoma too.
05:45 What's that meant to have guys like Danny and Xavier?
05:48 And Xavier's from your school district, for crying out loud.
05:51 You probably played Little League against him or something.
05:53 >> Yeah, it's definitely a surreal feeling because Xavier,
05:59 we went to the same middle school.
06:00 We're on the same middle school team.
06:01 We played running back together.
06:03 And so just be able to have someone on my team that we grew up together,
06:08 and they're near him.
06:09 So having Oklahoma kids here at the next level, I'm grateful and
06:14 I'm happy that this is something that I could do.
06:17 That was the reason I chose to come back to the school was to give a pathway for
06:23 Oklahoma kids to excel and come live out their dreams at the next level.
06:28 Cuz I wanna be that example of, you might come from a rough situation,
06:35 but you can always strive to be a better person than
06:39 the situation presents that it might want you to be.
06:42 >> Thanks, David.
06:45 >> Thank you, David.
06:45 >> No problem. >> Thank you, David.
