00:00 >> Yeah, quarterback change, offensive coordinator change,
00:03 just making the decision that just was the right fit with a lot of change going on in
00:07 the offense.
00:08 >> I was definitely sad.
00:09 So pretty much my whole thing was I just wanted to get developmentally.
00:13 I know I feel like I'm feeling good physically wise, but
00:17 I wanna get developmentally and be in a program where they got a history of
00:20 winning and knowing how to win.
00:22 Coach BV played a big part of my decision as well,
00:25 like just the whole soul mission thing and just talking about life at the football.
00:29 And I kind of change a tire or just how to just be like a businessman and
00:33 just uphold yourself.
00:35 So I feel like that definitely played a big role in my decision.
00:39 >> Had you had any interaction with any of the coaches, either Coach Venables or
00:42 any of the other assistants recruiting wise along the way or
00:44 anything like that prior to- >> Yes, also Coach Jones played a great,
00:47 great, great.
00:48 He's a great dude, man.
00:49 Like just seeing how he could change the whole receiving room,
00:52 just seeing how everybody paid attention to him and just listen to him.
00:55 It's a great thing to see.
00:56 He definitely has a history of changing the whole receiving room.
01:01 Man, I love Coach Jones.
01:02 >> You've got some really young guys, talented, but young.
01:07 So how does your role come into play?
01:09 I mean, you do have some veterans clearly in the room as well, but
01:13 the young guys, and you being new but not young, how does your role,
01:17 how does that fit in with this group, do you feel like?
01:20 >> I feel like it fit in well.
01:22 I mean, everybody bring their own thing to the table.
01:24 I feel like just with the veteran guys, it's kinda easy just to follow after them
01:28 as well.
01:29 I still feel like I'm a veteran guy.
01:30 I've been a few different offenses, so I can kinda pick up on it quick as well.
01:34 But even the young guys, they don't really seem young.
01:36 You could just tell, man, they're way ahead of their years right now.
01:40 And you got Pettaway, he's a great dude, man.
01:44 And veteran guys will listen to Pettaway.
01:47 So just seeing the whole room just wanting to get better all in one is just
01:50 a great thing to see.
01:51 >> What was the, in your mind, you're obviously picked OU for
01:56 the stuff that's here, but going to the SEC,
01:59 you come from a pretty good conference too.
02:01 >> Most definitely.
02:02 >> But what about the SEC?
02:04 Was there something about getting a chance to play in the SEC that was appealing to
02:08 you, that took it to a different level in your mind?
02:10 >> Yeah, the SEC, everybody knows pretty much this big room, big group.
02:14 So definitely, it was pretty much more of my decision to just come here,
02:19 just to see how the locker room is.
02:22 Just a well put together locker room, everybody's just together and close.
02:25 And in today's age of football, you really don't see that everywhere now,
02:28 because it's just so different now.
02:30 So just seeing that together, it's like, yeah, I definitely wanna be here.
02:34 And just SEC, I look at it as a plus, yeah, I wanna be in SEC too as well.
02:38 >> So if you're thinking about the whys of OU,
02:41 it was more about the camaraderie and the development for you?
02:45 >> Most definitely, that's definitely what it was.
02:46 It was more just BV, you could tell he's a real down to earth guy.
02:51 Everything felt real genuine with Coach BV, so.
02:54 >> So have you learned how to change a tire yet?
02:56 >> I haven't learned how to change a tire yet, but
02:58 I've definitely learned how to uphold and wear a suit.
03:01 So we're moving slowly but surely.
03:03 [LAUGH] >> Best to not have that.
03:05 >> [LAUGH] >> Best to not have that.
03:07 >> Triple A, that's how you do it.
03:09 >> [LAUGH] >> Coach Wolters said at some point last
03:12 year that you were the fastest guy on the team.
03:14 Did they ever put a stopwatch on you?
03:16 >> No, we ran the 40 one time and I think I clocked in low 44.
03:21 But we was running the 30 yard dash, so we pulled up before the 40.
03:24 So that's what they clocked, clocked at 22.3, 22.4.
03:29 So yeah, never really clocked it really, ran a 40, but yeah, definitely ran.
03:34 >> So just generally speaking, how was your experience like?
03:38 >> It was a great experience, man, just being around Coach Wolters, man.
03:41 Like he's a real down to earth guy too, man.
03:44 You got Coach CP, man, he was a great receiver coach.
03:47 Just being around them guys, man, it was great.
03:49 Like I said, I could call them right now and they're gonna pick up the phone and
03:52 still give me advice or give me anything I need to hear.
03:54 So I love them dudes as well.
03:56 >> [INAUDIBLE] >> Why Oklahoma?
04:00 I'll say just everything, the success that Oklahoma has had.
04:03 You got Coach Smitty, man, he has a history of developing guys.
04:06 Definitely why I wanna come get developed.
04:08 We got Coach BV, he's a man of God in my eyes.
04:11 And he's just a real down to earth guy.
04:13 You really don't see that and see a coach so passionate at the head coach position
04:17 about his players outside of football.
04:19 So it was a lot to it, especially with the offense to as well.
04:22 You got Jackson Arnold, he's a great talent.
04:25 You got Coach Jones where he could develop a receiver group.
04:28 So it was a lot of things that played in my part to come in here.
04:30 >> [INAUDIBLE] >> Yep, no problem.
04:32 >> Best accent on the team, clearly Daniel.
