00:00 So, you get acclimated there, you talk about Jared here, who's it been on the baseball side?
00:06 I would say like Will, Carter, like those are just, those are guys that are, everyone's
00:12 like all the pitchers are really cool like they just have a really open like
00:17 open their arms and like let me come in their house but with open arms so
00:21 everyone's been awesome and just really helpful yeah for sure.
00:25 I'm guessing the big reason why you're here is that flexibility to play two sports.
00:32 I'm sure not everybody's offering that opportunity. How much did it mean to get that opportunity?
00:37 Um, like no every every school that I had like had like was offering the two
00:42 sports side. The big part of why I would say that was different about OU is
00:48 Coach Skip and Coach BB like they know how to do it they know what the schedule
00:54 looks like just like with Kyler like Coach Gaines I had a meeting sit down
00:59 with him and like he just explained everything to a tee how it's gonna be
01:02 done and I really hadn't heard that from a single college besides like here and
01:06 that was like big pushing point too for Will like they know what they're doing
01:09 it's gonna be very possible to do this here for sure.
01:11 I'm guessing the Kyler plan, the Kyler kind of precedence problem that they could say hey we've done this before and it's here.
01:19 Yeah absolutely for sure just from knowing like they know how to do it and they have product for it.
01:27 That's what I make the for sure.
01:29 You ready for Taylor Tate to get here so you can kind of share in your um...
01:33 Yeah yeah definitely like...
01:35 Not pain but you guys knowing the same thing.
01:37 Yeah like everyone says like oh it's so hard to play like two sports and stuff like that but not like if you don't do it like you don't understand so like having
01:44 someone beside me like know what I feel like I'm doing like going through like
01:48 would be I feel like it's gonna help me out a lot for sure.
01:50 Yeah someone that can sympathize.
01:52 Yeah.
01:53 So how's it been working with Coach Alley? I'm sure it's kind of a unique situation to be like okay now I'm not forever recruited I'm gonna have a new position coach.
02:03 What's it been like?
02:04 Yeah he's been great he's from Charlotte too he's from exactly where I'm from he's like 15 minutes away from where I'm from so he's a really good guy he's a genius like he knows the defenses
02:13 like in and out like he's really smart and he's really good at explaining things so he makes things like he makes things really simple to understand for sure.
02:23 So getting to know a guy like Danny I'm sure from a linebacker standpoint that's someone to kind of aspire to be like a little bit better.
02:31 Yeah yeah for sure I'm soaking in all the information that I've learned and he teaches me from him and just learning how he goes day by day and just like how he controls his
02:42 situation is that's a guy to learn from for sure.
02:46 Coming in you know Brent Vanderbilt is obviously the defensive minded coach did that mean anything to you did that factor in your decision at all?
02:52 Yeah absolutely it played a huge part my actual high school defense was based off of his so it also played like a part of the recruiting like just off tape like I know how to I can play a role in his defense and the versatility I have so yeah definitely the linebackers are the playmakers he sets it up for for sure.
03:11 You guys have a new defensive coordinator Zach Alley what's it been like getting to know him?
03:15 Yeah he's a great guy really smart keeps things very simple very easy to understand and he has a really good mentality so he's great to learn from for sure.
03:28 I'm sure a lot of people have probably watched the high school tape but from your perspective what do you think you provide to Oklahoma's defense?
03:34 Yeah I provide like I said versatility I'm a great playmaker I got great instincts and I'm an overall ball player I know how to find the ball so yeah for sure.
03:44 And how would you say just overall playing both sports how's that been so far with the college transition from high school?
03:51 I mean it's definitely the workloads a lot more but I've done this my entire life few sports just like multiple workouts in a day so naturally I kind of knew like it was going to be a lot but I'd already been doing a lot.
04:02 It's definitely a little more but just breaking it in like first few weeks were definitely challenging but now it's clockwork to me like I know where I'm going it's not a surprise like just like having a recovery plan and stuff like that.
04:16 Learning how to get rest and keep my body functioning has been a huge key for sure.
04:21 I heard the fastball touches 95 is that true?
04:24 It has yeah it has.
