00:00 So all eyes are on this yellow helicopter you can see in the background here.
00:05 It is fuelled up and ready to make the estimated 300km trip inland to extricate this convoy
00:12 of seven who were found yesterday after being effectively lost for three days.
00:18 It is unfortunately unable to take off at the moment due to the continued rain and low
00:23 cloud here at Kalgoorlie.
00:26 The convoy of seven left Kalgoorlie on Sunday afternoon making the trip inland to the remote
00:32 Indigenous community of Djun Djun Jarrah.
00:35 They were not spotted from about 10pm on Sunday which is when the search party began.
00:41 Unfortunately that search party had to be grounded for a couple of days as this weather
00:44 continued to make it unsafe for planes to take off and search that area.
00:51 What we can tell you is that a police fixed wing aircraft was monitoring the area they
00:57 were thought to have last been spotted yesterday and they did make contact with them, located
01:02 them and were able to relay that information back here to Kalgoorlie and send a local helicopter
01:08 pilot out yesterday.
01:10 That chopper did deliver an initial care package of some food, water and blankets.
01:15 A flight briefing is underway here this morning in Kalgoorlie to determine whether the chopper
01:19 will be able to take off to extricate this family.
01:22 When they do that they will determine if any medical attention is needed.
01:26 If so they will bring them back here to Kalgoorlie otherwise return them to their home base at
01:31 Djun Djun Jarrah.
