00:00 So, Nigas might have suffered yet another major injury blow with the news of Sven Botman
00:06 is likely to be out between six and nine months after he picked up a knee injury against Man
00:11 City last week in the FA Cup. Now, first of all, from the players point of view, from
00:15 Nigas point of view, it's a massive blow. Botman may not have had the best of seasons,
00:19 but he's a key player for any house side and it's going to be a huge blow not seeing him
00:22 between now and the end of the season, maybe now and the end of the calendar. Yeah, you
00:26 know that if you're looking at the upper limit of that timescale, the sort of nine months
00:30 that takes you to about December. So, it'd be really, it'd be a big shame not to see
00:34 him in action because he has been really good for Newcastle since he joined. Again, may
00:38 have had his struggles this year, but he is one of their key players. And for Botman,
00:41 obviously that rules him out of the Euros. In some way, he'd have liked to try and force
00:46 himself in that Holland squad. That's not going to happen. And yeah, Newcastle now have
00:51 to deal with another one of their key players out, who are obviously Joel Linton and Callum
00:55 Wilson both in a race against time to be, you know, for them to play again this season.
00:59 Obviously, Sandro Tonali won't play until next year after his suspension ends. So yeah,
01:03 it's a big blow for Botman and on a personal level, he'll be good. Obviously, he's already
01:08 missed a large period of the season with injury. And yeah, it is a shame that he won't play
01:13 a part between now and the end of the campaign. How Newcastle deal with that in the short
01:17 term, we'll probably see Jamal Assel's play more regularly alongside Fabian Schär. Then
01:22 two have been good together this year and Botman's absence. So that's not really too
01:26 much of an issue. You'll see some of Dan Byrne there, who can't cover in the centre back
01:30 if needed. You've still got Paul Dumit and Emil Kraft. So there are options. And so between
01:35 now and the end of the season, which is only 10 games, they should be okay. How that changes
01:39 their plans for the summer window, I think they probably want to strengthen in all areas
01:44 of the team. And I think defence is probably one they looked at in the heart of defence.
01:50 Probably they would have looked at wanting to strengthen this summer, but I think it
01:53 was one they might have thought they could get away with not buying. Anyone, you know,
01:57 maybe push that problem in the next summer is in 90 years time. But that's really now
02:02 going to have to change. Their priorities are going to have to change. They're going
02:04 to have to sign a defender. They can't go in the next year with the options they've
02:08 got now, especially Sven Botman and Jenna said, because that's not going to be enough.
02:11 So we really need to see how they deal with that in the summer. And of course, the fallout
02:16 will be, and we've seen on social media recently, the fallout will be how this injury has happened.
02:20 You know, as I mentioned, Botman picked up a knee injury against Sheffield United early
02:26 on the season that went undiagnosed for a little bit. The injury was then discovered.
02:32 He then missed three months or just a shy three months of action, opted not to get surgery
02:37 on that issue. So that was that was the call made then, you know, surgery would have knocked
02:42 him out for nine months and probably the whole season at that point. They opted to try and
02:45 avoid having that surgery. But obviously, that has now come back to bite them because
02:52 he's now facing surgery. The sources do say that the injury is different to what he picked
02:56 up early on the season, so he can't legislate for another injury. But really, it's been
03:01 a mismanaged situation, really. It's one that could have probably been avoided, one that
03:06 he will now have to deal with, I think. You know, as I said, between now and the end of
03:09 the season and summer, that is something they're going to have to deal with. But yeah, it's
03:12 a major blow, it's a spot that's been out for the next sort of at least six months,
03:16 potentially nine months. And then you have to react. That's the whole season. They have
03:20 to react to this injury blow. They have to come up with a solution and they can't be
03:24 OK. They can't be down in the dumps. They can't be using this as an excuse because they've
03:27 got 10 really big games between now and the end of the season to try and secure European
03:32 football again and getting that European football, no matter what it is, will be a major help
03:35 in the transfer window and trying to entice players to either stay at the club or try
03:39 and come to the club. And as I said, now they're going to have to, they're going to be looking
03:43 for a new defender. They're going to have to try and find someone of Botman's ilk. That's
03:46 really difficult because Botman is, you know, a very good player and was one of the best
03:50 defenders in the league last year, no doubt about that. So yeah, Botman's absence is going
03:55 to be massive and one that you guys and I really have to sort out. But yeah, so as the
03:59 start of this video, the latest injury news from you guys tonight is Sven Botman is out
04:03 between six and nine months with a knee injury.
