00:00 This is Connor from the Plough in Shenston which has been named as Staffordshire's poshest village.
00:07 Connor, what do you like about Shenston?
00:10 I love working here because of all the regulars that you get.
00:12 I mean, it's not very often that I'll see new faces in here, whether that's at the restaurant, if you come into the bar.
00:19 I know all the regulars, we know each other's names and everything.
00:22 It's quite a safe and nice environment and it's just really nice people.
00:27 I wouldn't say they're posh, I'd just say it's a really nice area, you just feel comfortable.
00:33 You never feel depressed, no one's rude.
00:36 Everyone just gets along here and everyone knows who everyone is.
00:39 It's just a nice, peaceful village, that's why I like working here.
00:42 And what do you think people like about the Plough?
00:44 I think we're a very reasonable price place.
00:47 I think we do really nice food, we've got a really nice restaurant.
00:53 We've got two upstairs, we've got an upstairs private room, we've got a downstairs private room.
00:57 People can have parties, we've got lots of recommendations for parties.
01:00 The telegraph said about the poshest village, it's close for commuter people in London.
01:07 Do you get any City London high flyers in here?
01:10 We do, we get a lot of people from different cities here.
01:13 And I know I say it's a lot of regulars in the bar, but when we have people in the restaurant,
01:18 people from all over the country, down south, up north, and they mention it to their friends,
01:23 and mention it to people about it, and the word gets about it, it travels a lot and it's really good.
01:27 We're here with Corinne, and you're a postie in Shedston.
01:32 It has been named as the poshest village in Staffordshire.
01:36 Are your residents posh, do you think?
01:39 No, our residents are very nice.
01:41 Are they very nice?
01:42 It depends, doesn't it? It's good and bad in every area.
01:46 There are some posh, but generally most of them are nice.
01:49 Is it a nice round to have, Shedston?
01:51 Yes, it's lovely.
01:53 How far do you reckon you're walking there?
01:56 Between 8 and 9 miles.
01:59 All rolling hills of Staffordshire?
02:02 Yes, well maybe I'll do Shedston.
02:05 So we're giving Shedston a thumbs up then?
02:07 Oh definitely, yeah, and if we are so happy to do it.
02:10 President Bruce Smith, tell me what you like about Shedston.
02:14 Well I'm retired, and it's the sort of place you can walk around,
02:19 not feel worried, you can look at the shops, etc.
02:24 They know your face, and of course there's the pub, the famous Plough.
02:30 So I like coming here for lunch and evening meals sometimes.
02:35 What about, say you're at your house and you look out your back window, what do you see?
02:40 Fields.
02:42 I'm on the edge of Shedston, so I look out the front,
02:49 or at least as far as the eye can see, fields and woods.
02:55 I look out the back at the garden, and the same thing, fields and woods.
03:01 Occasional farms way in the distance.
03:03 Where else have you lived in the West Midlands, and how would you compare Shedston to that?
03:09 Oh, Shedston's way up in there.
03:12 Nothing against Perry Bar, but it's in the middle of Birmingham.
03:16 Great bar, that's again in Birmingham.
03:20 I've enjoyed it, but there comes a time when there's quieter life.
03:29 And this is the quiet, when I say quiet I don't mean boring, there's lots of things you can do.
03:34 But, quieter life.
03:37 And you're not from Shedston?
03:39 No.
03:40 Where are you from?
03:41 I'm originally from just outside London, but I now live in Birmingham.
03:44 So, you've only been in Shedston, we've spoken to people who live here,
03:48 but you or somebody who's just come here, what are your first impressions of Shedston?
03:52 Lovely.
03:53 Well put together place, isn't it?
03:55 It is?
03:56 Yeah, really nice.
03:57 It's been named as the poshest village in Staffordshire.
03:59 And it's got good rail links, good everything links.
04:02 You're all the literature up there.
04:03 Yes, that's a city, this is a village.
04:05 Very nice, this place in particular is very nice.
04:09 Great Caesar salad.
04:10 What do you do for a living?
04:12 I work in medical sales.
04:14 And would you come back to Shedston again?
04:16 Definitely, we're going to be doing it regularly, aren't we?
04:18 Perfect, thanks mate.
