00:02 Former Law Minister Zayed Ibrahim has questioned the authority's decision
00:06 not to initiate a probe in the absence of a police report.
00:10 He wondered whether such a law existed and questioned whether the police could do anything
00:15 if the country was burning and no one lodged a report.
00:18 Zayed said when he was charged for insulting then Prime Minister Najib Razak in 2015,
00:23 the report initiating the investigation was made by a policeman, not a member of the public.
00:30 Zayed voiced his suspicion that the authority's recent decision not to initiate an investigation
00:36 was because the relevant subject matter or person involved was a high-ranking UMNO leader
00:41 while he was a nobody.
00:43 While he did not identify the UMNO leader,
00:46 it is believed that he was referring to UMNO Youth Chief Dr. Atmal Saleh.
00:50 Recently, Senator T. Leon Kerr questioned why Atmal had yet to be investigated for sedition
00:56 despite uploading a photo of himself holding a sword with the caption,
01:01 "No matter what, we will not waver from our stance. Better to die standing than live kneeling."
01:06 In response, Inspector General of Police Razaquddin Hussain said
01:10 no reports were received regarding Atmal's Facebook post,
01:14 saying that according to standard procedure,
01:16 the police would only initiate an investigation if a report was lodged.
