00:00 Isfahan on Friday morning.
00:03 With these images and music, Iranian TV sent out a message.
00:09 Everything is calm in the central city and around its strategic facilities.
00:16 Hours earlier, the day started with a news flash reporting on suspected explosions near
00:21 the city.
00:22 The airlines diverted their flights.
00:25 Roughly at the same time, Israeli stations aired their own news flashes saying that an
00:31 alleged attack had been attributed to Israel.
00:34 Unnamed U.S. officials told ABC and the New York Times that Israel launched a limited
00:40 strike - the latest retaliation after Iran attacked Israel directly last Sunday in response
00:47 to an Israeli strike on its consulate in Damascus, linked to fighting between Iran's proxies
00:53 in the region and Israel, and to the war in Gaza.
00:56 There are a host of targets Israel could have hit in Iran in the vicinity of Isfahan to
01:02 include some nuclear research laboratories, the Natanz nuclear facility, as well as production
01:09 facilities for drones and other advanced ballistic missile capabilities.
01:16 They chose this target probably because it was none of those and could demonstrate while
01:22 Israel reserves the right to strike those more sensitive targets, they weren't going
01:26 to do that this evening.
01:28 With every alleged strike, Israel and Iran have tried to show they had the capacity to
01:34 retaliate while hoping to avoid an escalation.
01:38 (upbeat music)
