An annual music festival hosted by BBC Radio 2 has chosen Moor Park in Preston as its location this year.

Being held in Victoria Park in Leicester last year, Radio 2 in the Park will take place in Moor Park, Preston on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8.

The radio station came to Deepdale stadium, home to Preston North End F.C, to announce the news whilst also giving away 40 free tickets to lucky members of the public.

Former Strictly star and now BBC Radio 2 host, Richie Anderson, was in attendance where he spoke enthusiastically about the festival coming to Lancashire.

00:00 I've had to keep so many secrets this week, like they only told me that I was coming here
00:07 yesterday because I'm like the radio too busy body, like they know if they tell me they
00:10 might as well walk in the megaphone down at High Street, you know what I mean, so I've
00:13 had to keep that a secret. And then last night, just before I went to a birthday, Stronger
00:17 met them. We've given tickets away and you've got to look after them, so I literally was
00:21 so anxious in my hotel room and just getting away this morning was amazing, like you heard
00:25 the reaction from everybody here this morning, it's amazing that we've come into Moor Park
00:29 and I don't know if you saw our coverage in Leicester last year but we had Kylie Minogue
00:32 there, tears for fears. We are bringing some stellar music acts to Preston, over that road
00:38 where people jog, play football, walk their dogs, it is going to be the most amazing weekend.
00:44 Any hints you can give us about who might be playing?
00:46 Again, they tell me it's stellar music acts but they're not telling me anything because
00:50 they know what I'm like, I've just literally got the biggest guy. If they tell me, I'll
00:53 tell my other half, he'll tell someone at work and then it spreads like wildfire, so
00:57 I don't know anything. If you look at all the headliners we have at Radio 2 in the Park,
01:02 we always match it every year, so you know there are some absolute superstars coming
01:07 to Preston in September.
01:09 They didn't give you a day off, you're still doing the Traffic and Travel, how has it been
01:13 being live from deep down?
01:14 It's been so much fun, this is what radio's all about, coming down here and meeting our
01:18 listeners who are just absolutely incredible. We've had such a laugh this morning, like
01:22 you've seen when we've been off air, we've all been laughing and joking when the records
01:25 are playing. It's been a busy morning, but it's probably one of my favourite shows to
01:28 do in the year actually when we do the announcement because it's always so exciting. We always
01:32 have this little panic, like what if nobody turns up for the tickets? But you can see
01:36 this morning, people have turned up, people are excited. In September we're bringing the
01:40 whole Radio 2 family here, so I'm going to go back and tell everybody, it's going to
01:43 be amazing, and then Vern's going to be coming up, Scott, you name it, we're all going to
01:47 be here in September.
