Passengers at Garforth station can look forward to soon being able to have a safe, step-free route between platforms for the first time as installation of a new accessible bridge reaches a major milestone.

00:00A first-of-its-kind railway bridge has been installed at Garforth train station.
00:07The beacon bridge will give passengers a safe, step-free option for the first time, and was
00:12officially lifted into place over the weekend of the 20th and 21st of April.
00:17Network Rail are hopeful it will be partly open to the public towards the middle or end
00:21of June, and a temporary footbridge has been put in place while workers continue to ready
00:26the new one.
00:27The station's car park has temporarily reduced spaces by 60, with construction of the £6
00:34million investment beginning in May last year.
00:37424,784 people are estimated to have travelled through Garforth station between April 2022
00:45to March 2023.
00:47Garforth's previous Grade 2 listed bridge has been carefully removed and relocated to
00:51the Bredshire and Wormshill Light Railway in Kent.
