The LA Clippers are one win away from reaching their first-ever conference finals, but the team doesn't seem to care.
Transcript
00:00 The LA Clippers took a commanding 3-1 series lead of the Never-Nuggets on Wednesday night,
00:04 winning 96-85 behind a monster showing from Kawhi Leonard.
00:09 As a result, the team is now just one win shy of advancing to the West Coverage Finals,
00:13 a would-be first in the history of the franchise.
00:16 According to ESPN Stats and Info, LA's 49 seasons without reaching the league's penultimate
00:20 playoff round are by far the most among any team in the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL.
00:27 This is a big deal not only for Clippers fans, but in the history of American sport.
00:32 Clippers players and coaching staff, on the other hand, don't seem to care about how close
00:35 they are to making history.
00:37 Just ask Doc Rivers, who said after the game, the team had "zero reaction" to ending up
00:41 3-1 in the series, saying "That's not our goal.
00:45 I don't even think anybody cares, to be honest.
00:47 We haven't done anything yet."
00:49 Leonard echoed Rivers' sentiments, downplaying the results of the contest, and has touched
00:53 it from the focus to closing out the series on Friday, saying "It's always good if you
00:58 can make it to the next round, but you know, we've got a lot of work to do still.
01:02 The Denver team does not quit.
01:03 They've got a good group over there and a good coach, so we're still fighting."
01:07 Now lastly, Clippers in the current position blew a 3-1 lead, which has the team in the
01:11 West Coverage Semifinals to the Houston Rockets.
01:13 It was a historic crash, one that LA never seemed to recover from.
01:16 In the two seasons that followed, the Clippers felt they made it out of the first round,
01:20 and eventually took up the entire roster, trading Chris Paul, trading Blake Griffin.
01:24 A lot of things happened as a result of that series loss, really.
01:28 Of course, this current group shares little more than a name with the old LA teams.
01:33 Doc Rivers is the only real consonant there, so it's understandable that making it to the
01:37 second round doesn't really hold the same significance of this team as it does to a
01:39 team like that.
01:40 Game 5 between the Clippers and Nuggets will take place this Friday, September 11th at
01:44 6.30pm Eastern Time.
01:47 If the Clippers go the series out, they'll await the winner of the Los Angeles Lakers
01:50 and Houston Rockets in the Conference Finals.
