The LA Clippers won't get star reserve Montrezl Harrell back for their final seeding game.
Transcript
00:00 The LA Clippers are just days away from beating the postseason.
00:03 Before they begin their run, they need to play one final seeding game on Friday night
00:07 against Oklahoma City Thunder.
00:09 Coming into tonight's contest, the hope was the Clippers would have Montrezl Harrell back
00:12 in the lineup, the star reserve, and six-man of the year finalists return to the bubble
00:17 over the weekend.
00:18 It looked though he could suit up against Thunder this Friday, but that likely won't
00:22 be the case.
00:23 The Clippers announced on Thursday that Harrell will miss Friday's game, as he still hasn't
00:28 joined the team and finished up with his quarantine period.
00:31 Additionally, Patrick Beverley and Landry Shandman will sit out due to injury as well.
00:35 The game is essentially meaningless.
00:37 LA is already locked into a first-round matchup with the Dallas Mavericks, as the Thunder
00:40 are with the Houston Rockets as well.
00:42 However, it is as important as ever the Clippers get Harrell reps.
00:45 He still hasn't made his double debut, after missing all three scrimmage games and all
00:49 eight seeding games, if he does in fact miss tonight, and is the third leading scorer on
00:54 the team with 18.6 points per game this season, which is a career high.
00:58 There's always a chance that his status could be upgraded ahead of tonight's contest, but
01:02 as it stands, fans should prepare to wait a few days to see Harrell back on the court
01:06 until they begin their postseason run on Monday.
01:09 As for Beverley and Shandman, look for their absences to extend into the postseason as
01:12 well.
01:13 Coach Doc Rivers clarified that while neither injuries are severe, the team is exercising
01:17 extreme caution in bringing them back.
01:20 Clippers and Thunder will take the floor on Friday, August 14th at 6.30pm Eastern Time.
